Can't beat my own demons, so I beat up fictional ones instead. It's fun!

There could be a hundred hours in a day and I still wouldn't get around to half the things I need to do.

Something about winter makes me want to curl up on the couch, wrap myself in a blanket, and join way more RPs than I have time for.

This is the kind of site where you think about it every day even if you haven't actually done anything here for months. Or is that just me?

Bio

Luminosity

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. I'm Luminosity, but feel free to call me Lumi or Lum. If you're here, I suppose that means you have some interest in me, my writing, or in roleplaying with me. Here's a bit about me and my preferences. In general, if you want to talk, about RPing or anything else, just shoot me a PM. I always try to make time for new friends.

About Me

Basics

I'm in my 20s, female, and currently trying to figure out how that whole "being an adult" thing works. I've been roleplaying on this site for a while off and on, but in general I've been roleplaying for over ten years, here and there. I'm on US Central Time currently.

Writing Level
My writing level on this site varies from casual to advanced, though the sweet spot is usually around 3-5 paragraphs per post. If I'm feeling inspired I tend to write kinda long posts, so be warned. I've never been a free-level roleplayer, and writing that little per post is typically something that makes me lose interest.

Activity
I love RPing, but I am busy quite often, and so my posting rate will vary. Sometimes I'll be able to post multiple times a day, and sometimes I won't be able to post more than once a week. Please keep this in mind if you'd like to RP with me. Also that more applies to 1x1's, I do my best to be consistent if I'm joining a group RP. My normal writing times for RP are first thing in the morning or somewhat late at night, but sometimes I can squeeze posts in during the afternoon.

Preferences
I'm mostly into fantasy RPs with a good dose of adventure and action, especially dark fantasy settings. In terms of mature content, I prefer a certain level of realism, and I'm totally fine with language and gore (I actually really like writing fight scenes). I'm happy to write romance, but I really prefer not to force it or have it be the main focus of a roleplay, but rather something that happens naturally if it feels right for my character. I've never written smut/sex scenes without fading to black, and it's not something I'm especially interested in trying. I enjoy group RPs as well as 1x1's, and while I've GMed in the past, I don't do it very often now, due to stress and time constraints.

I really only RP as female characters here, as that's just my personal preference. I write all kinds in lots of genres in my personal work, but I RP here to simply write what I enjoy most. I'm fine with taking on minor characters or NPCs of any gender if the RP needs it, though.

Games

Do You Play League of Legends?

I used to! You can probably guess who my favorite champion is. I haven't played in a long time, though, since I was never very good and ran into one too many unpleasant online experiences. I still follow the game for all of the amazing art and characters it produces, and I'm interested in the upcoming titles in that universe that aren't MOBAs.

So What Do You Play?
Lately? Apex Legends, Mortal Kombat 11, Final Fantasy (VII, VII Remake, VIII, XII, a real FF trip lately), and Resident Evil 3. Honestly, not a lot lately, just haven't had the time/interest in anything for a bit.

That's about it! Thanks for the interest, and if you want to get in touch, don't hesitate to send a PM my way. See you around :)

Mari took Po's hand and shook, then accepted the chair he brought over for her, feeling a little more relaxed as each moment passed. They all seemed friendly enough, this group, save for the elf, but she was starting to suspect the woman was like that towards everyone. She smiled at the others singing the dwarf's praises, eventually leaning back in her chair and lifting one leg over the other.

She jumped, however, at the booming voice of Kane, though she ended up laughing nervously a few moments later. "The Forge? Gandelyn the Smith? Seven Runic Rings?" she repeated, looking from one group member to the next. "I'm not familiar, I'm afraid." If she had to guess, it was some sort of dwarven thing. Dwarves weren't all that common in the Sea of Swords, really. The waters often didn't agree with them, as they preferred the bellies of mountains to that of the seas.

"If that significance includes a bit of coin, I'm happy to tag along and help out." It was perhaps the most adventurer job she'd ever had the opportunity to join, the only motivation being the promise of some significant artifact, and the journey requiring a group to delve into forgotten places, full of unknown dangers.

Sounded like fun, really.
Freya Carstensen

Freya wondered how long her adrenaline was going to last, how long it would be before exhaustion crept over her, before thirst and hunger got the better of her. They'd need to find somewhere to rest, somewhere safe, and they needed to figure out what the hell was safe to eat and drink in this place. So far, it seemed like they had no plan for any of that.

Freya yelped in surprise and fear when she noticed the bow being pointed at her and the others. "Don't shoot, don't shoot!" she pleaded, raising her hands, before she noticed the age of the child, and that was enough to give her a moment of pause. She was about as frightening to look at as anything else down here, but was that hesitation in her eyes? Everything else that hunted them so far seemed so certain.

Oh no, more of these things! More lake goblins, or at least one of them, and Aubrey couldn't hit it. Freya tried to run up and kick it as she had earlier, but it turned on her with startling speed, jumping at her and knocking her backwards. Freya splashed down onto her back in the shallow stream, the cold of the water shocking her senses, but she was more concerned with the goblin now on top of her.

She screamed, desperately covering her head and face with her arms as she felt angry claws raining on her. Her forearms took a few cuts, and then she felt a sharp blooming pain in her right side, the water immediately around her starting to turn a dark shade of red. Freya squirmed and writhed in the shallow water, but couldn't get free.
I'll go by the end of tomorrow at the latest as well.
Mari found herself pushed forward into a dashing group of adventurers, smiling a little awkwardly back at Ithaca. One of her sisters had fashioned her leathers, and while they were finely crafted, embossed and studded and fitted comfortably to her form, with swirling and twisting decorative elements of Norgardian design, Mari felt she was certainly the least impressive of this group.

Kane and his plate armor she'd already encountered, but now she got a better look at the elven woman in her beautiful priestly robes. They were of Nestariel, the healer, or at least she thought, as the design was more exotic and archaic than other traveling priests she'd encountered before. Her gaze seemed to pierce through, but Mari paid it little mind. She was new, after all. The dwarf seemed friendly enough, Orek, and then there was Po, his hand outstretched towards her.

"That's me," she said, giving it a shake. "My name's Mari, I've come from the Sea of Swords. I'm going to be here for a little while at least, so I thought I'd look for some opportunities." Her holy symbols of Rán were displayed openly hanging from her belts for the observant.

She didn't laugh at Po's joke, only smiling a little, as she wasn't sure what the dynamic here was yet, and had no desire to turn the elven woman's disposition against her before they'd even begun. "I can pull my own weight in a fight and in the wild, if you'll have me."
I can post again in a few days, just thought I'd wait for some others to catch up and get a post in, but it doesn't seem to be happening? *shrug*

Regardless I'll go again for Freya pretty soon.
Mari had always made friends easily, but even she hadn't expected her first encounters in the Blackwood to be so pleasant. Of course, she was swiftly reminded that she was an outsider to these parts when the dwarf, Orek as Ithaca named him, spoke to Kane in a tongue unfamiliar to her, and lured him away from the table. The adventurers already here had established connections, which she'd likely need to do as well if she wanted to get anywhere.

For the moment, she was alone at the table with Ithaca, and she finished another long drink of her ale as she watched the Drogator leave, feeling the warmth of it seep through her. "I'm not sure," she answered. "I'll be coming and going at the very least, hopefully starting tomorrow. The Daughters are sellswords, after all, and I might as well look for work while I look for a lead." There had to be no shortage of it in a place like this, where there seemed to be an endless supply of danger.

She'd need the coin, too, if she wanted to keep a roof over her head while she searched. And it'd be good experience for her, as Mari had accomplished very little on her own, which was no surprise given how young she was. Asherah had given her excellent training, but training could only take her so far.

She ran a hand through auburn hair, enjoying the atmosphere of the barroom. "Actually... I don't suppose you've heard of anything I could help with? Or know who I should ask? I'm not picky." She was no knight in shining plate, certainly, and would take just about any honest work if I meant she could get out and do some exploring the next day.
Freya Carstensen

Come on, Freya, keep it together...

The scores of panicked breathing and frantic curses behind her were seriously stressing her out, but Freya supposed that total silence would be even worse. She put one foot in front of the other and made it deeper into the cave, the damp cool in the dark serving to send a chill through her, enough to make her shudder before long.

She saw the light ahead and slowed to a stop, squinting to try to make out what it was, but her eyes refused to adjust, or perhaps it was still too far away. Regardless, her attention was drawn away when she heard one of them drop to the ground behind her. She turned her back on the light to see Brenton on his hands and knees, breathing rapidly, each gasp clearly paining him.

Freya knew a panic attack when she saw one. It had to be either the dark or the cramped cave, or both, that was getting to him. She didn't know exactly what to do, but she wasn't going to just stand there and watch. She knelt down in front of him.

"Hey, it's okay," she said, putting a hand lightly on his shoulder. "I know it's dark, but we've got a lot of space still. We'll just take it slow. Look at me. Just try to breathe slow, okay? Don't force it." She really didn't know if that would help, but they really had to keep moving. Multiple people were bleeding still, and for all they knew something was on their tail. And there was still the light ahead...
Mari had to force herself not to stare at the Drogator in fascination. It took her a moment to realize what he was. No doubt Kane was used to stares; his armor alone was enough to provoke gawking, to say nothing of the being encased inside it. He seemed friendly enough, if a little terrifying. She would hate to see how he looked as an enemy.

She was mid-drink of her ale when Kane chuckled, and Mari nearly spat out a mouthful, but managed to contain herself, holding the back of her hand to her lips until she was sure she wasn't going to be an embarrassment.

"Brave, or perhaps just stupid," she said, smiling broadly. "I serve Rán, the sea goddess. I'm on a pilgrimage to one of her oldest temples, here in the Blackwood. I'm to become her Ninth Daughter. If I can survive the rite of passage, that is."

There was a chance they'd heard of the Daughters, if Ithaca and Kane were as well-traveled as they looked. The eldest of them had much fame in the Sea of Swords and even beyond, and while Mari had no legend to speak of yet, the name of the little group carried some weight. Perhaps not here, though. As far as Mari knew, the last time a Daughter of Rán entered the Blackwood was over twenty years ago, when the Eighth passed her initiation.

"Thing is," she continued, "it's said that only Daughters of Rán can find and enter the temple, so I'm not sure if anyone here can help me." A few of the Daughters Mari had spoken with suspected that the temple actually moved somehow, and that old, powerful magic protected it from curious eyes and those that the Widow didn't care for. If she couldn't pick up on any lead, Mari felt she'd have to simply set out on her own, and hope the Goddess guided her.
I was kinda in the same boat? Sorta feels like just us :(
Mari found Rittenvos to be new and exciting and yet somehow quite familiar. It was the mood of the people, she decided, that was similar to the Sea of Swords. Lots of travelers and mercenaries and merchants, people in general not tied down to any location, simply passing through in search of adventure, fortune, or their own goals. For once Mari was one of them rather than simply a local.

By the time she made it to the barroom her purse was two lordlings lighter. She felt lighter too, given the layer of sweat, dirt, and grime she'd washed off, though perhaps that was also because she'd left her plate, shield, and pack in her room. Considering how many other sellswords there were here wearing armor and weapons, Mari simply changed into a fresh white tunic and dark brown leggings, and cleaned her leathers as best she could before donning them again. On her belt were her sword, daggers, coin pouch, and necklaces of Rán.

She'd managed to get a decent meal to fill her belly before turning in to her room, so it was ale she sought after now, and when she had two pints in her hands she made her way over to the right side of the room, trying to catch Ithaca's attention as she approached. She seemed to be conversing with the... man? Next to her, though Mari had to admit she'd never seen any of their race before. The plate armor was certainly fine, far better than what Mari could afford.

"Hope I'm not intruding," she greeted, offering the pint. "I promised the Road Warden here an ale. If not for her I'd probably be wyvern food by now."
