Name: Zachary Burns

Nickname: Zack, Z

Sex: Male

Age: 18

Birthplace: Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Year: Senior, 12th

Favorite Subjects: Math & History

Least Favorite: Science

Current Goal: To make friends before starting school in yet another town.

Talents: Athletic, great sense of humor, much smarter than he appears.

Fears: He is afraid of not knowing anyone and being the outcast at yet another school. He’s terrified of never being loved.

General Personality: He is an army brat. He has issues with making friends because he has moved so many times. He tends to be shy when in a new group, which makes getting to know people difficult, especially considering he moves so much, but once he gets comfortable with people he opens up and can be very outgoing. He has abandonment issues, and he is afraid to get attached to other people.

Inner Personality: Once Zack finds people he can be comfortable with, he becomes fiercely loyal. It doesn’t happen often with all the moving but when it does he fights like hell for his friends. While he doesn’t show it, he longs for closeness. He is a much smarter than he lets on.

Secret: He wants nothing more than to tell someone he loves them and have them say it back.

Biography: Its been Zack and his father as far back as Zack can remember. His mother left them both when he was 2 years old because she was tired of the travel and military life. While Zack loves his father, he sometimes wishes his mother took him with her. He hated the travel, 13 bases in 16 years.

Australia makes number 14, but this one is different. His dad fell in love, retired, and married some women Zack had never met. Zack doesn’t mind his step-mother, and doesn’t mind potentially living in one place for more than a year, but Australia is nothing like the US which scares the hell out of him. Either way, Zack is starting over…again.

He has always excelled in sports, especially anything that involves hitting people, or a lot of running. He likes sports because they’ve always been a good way to make friends, and hitting people has always been a good way to let his anger out “constructively.” The only other thing he has been able to keep constant in his life is his grades, he has always been a straight A student.

He and his father moved into town at the beginning of the summer, but Zack has struggled to make any friends. He doesn’t know anyone, doesn’t know where anyone hangs out, and he’s so shy that he doesn’t dare ask. The only person he has really talked to more than once was a girl names Lyn, who works at the local pub. She seems very nice, and has always been kind to him, so he frequents the pub…daily. Other than going to the pub he has been working on an old jeep he bought, trying to get it working before the school year starts.

Zack is still really skeptical about starting school this year. All the other times, even if he was an outsider, at least everyone was from the same damn country! Now he’s in a foreign country, but he isn’t moving anymore so he’ll make the best of it.

Likes: Sports, hunting, reading especially about history, working on cars.

Dislikes: Being the odd man out.
Name: Eamon Hatcher

Nickname: Mr. Hatcher

Age: 28

Gender: Male

Allegiance: Maebh Brannagh

Allegiance Faction: HMS Strumpet

Role: First Officer on HMS Strumpet

Personality: As the Maebh’s first officer, Eamon is in charge of the day to day activities. A professional demeanor and dedication to perfection makes him very skilled at getting things done and keeps the ship in top shape. However, this professional attitude can sometimes give way to Eamon’s sense of humor. He is known to make jokes with the crew, even after having disciplined them.

When Eamon drinks, it’s usually a lot. He tries to avoid it when with the crew on shore, in case someone needs backup. However, from time to time, Eamon will enjoy some drinks and will usually end up singing at the top of his lungs late into the night.

Loyalty is hard earned with Eamon. He trusts very few people and is always watching his back. While this distrust of other people makes him very unpopular outside of the ship’s crew, he is completely loyal to the crew and his captain. He would gladly give his life for any of the crew but would gladly kill anyone, including the crew, for Maebh.
He is a fierce fighter, and skilled in hand to hand combat. He enjoys fighting pirates and his hatred of them is only matched by his hatred for the English. When going into battle he wears 6 pistols which after firing he often uses as a weapons, along with the pistols he will wield two cutlasses. He can be seen howling and screaming in the heat of battle as he cuts through his enemies. The heat of battle has, however, been known to get to him. He sometimes gets carried away and needs to be held back by the crew.

Biography: Eamon was born on the Irish Coast, the third of five childen, with 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters. He grew up in a fishing village and practically lived on different ships. He would often go on trips with his father and two brothers. When he was 11 years old his father and brothers went on a fishing trip, Eamon had fallen ill and was left behind. Days later, the ship was attacked by pirates. Everyone on board was killed.

When he was 18, the English arrived in his village. English soldiers went door to door and gathered all of the people of the village. They claimed that the people of the village were sheltering and supplying “enemies of the crown.” The English soldiers tried to have their way with his sisters, and his mother fought back and was murdered. His sisters were kidnapped and disappeared. They turned up dead in London years later.

Eamon has spent the last several years on the Strumpet hunting and killing pirates under the command of Maebh.
Great movie! I'd love to join.
The street is dark and littered with debris. Trash, and abandoned cars along the sidewalks. The windows of each and every store shattered. Tim thought to himself, who the hell would break every window? Even the store that sold designer clothes had been trashed. Why would someone need a fancy dress in all this? But there was no more time to waste, Tim closes one eye and looks through his Night Vision Monocle with the other, scanning the storefronts for movement. Satisfied that nothing is out there, he makes a hand gesture pointing at a lone store about a block away with a small parking lot.

Zack, seeing the hand gesture, advances up the other side of the street, checking the windows of the buildings he passes as he approaches the store. Once at the entrance to the store he looks back to Tim, nods then enters the store.

Tim begins limping down the street, unable to bend his left leg because of the makeshift splint on it. Tim moves slowly, grunting slightly from the pain of trying to move on a broken leg, he doesn’t bother to check the windows of the buildings and focuses on just getting into the store as fast as he can.

Inside the store, Zack sweeps through the aisles looking first for “biters” then for food. Nothing. Tim limps inside the store and looks to Zack who says nothing. The silence is painful, Tim knows what it means.

Tim drops himself down on the floor near the door, looking around the empty store, then looking at the limited supplies left in his backpack. He looks up to Zack, who is watching the street for biters.

Tim whispers, “This was our last chance, bro.”
“Yea, I know it was.”
“We’ve checked the whole damn neighborhood. We’ve only got enough food for a few more days. We’re going to have to hit a bigger place.”
“Last time we did that, we lost Chris.”
“I wouldn’t be suggesting it if we had another option, Z.”
“Shit” Zack hesitates for a few seconds, thinking about their fallen friend Chris and the unknown dangers that lay inside the mall a little over a mile away. “Okay, Eaton it is”

Zack pulls Tim up to his feet and checks his rifle quickly. Tim puts his arm over Zack’s shoulders helping keep the weight off of the bad leg. The two slowly step back out into the streets, the dark outline of the Eaton Center in the distance.

Friends Tim and Zack have been nearly inseparable since they were 7. They grew up a block away from each other and spent their childhood at the same schools, playing on the same sports teams, and always fighting or competing with each other.

After graduating high school they went to the same college. They were both members of Army ROTC and after graduation joined the Army. After 3 tours in Afghanistan, they became Police Officers in their home town Boston, MA.

They were in Toronto for a police conference when the outbreak began. The conference was probably their only saving grace. As things started to get bad they tried to help maintain order. While there was almost no way of doing that, they were at least able to load up on weapons and ammo. When the Emergency Command Center was overrun Tim, Zack, and a few other survivors made it out of the city. They survived in a small suburb for a while but the supplies ran thin they were forced to scavenge. After a few weeks Tim and Zack were the only ones left.

Other:
Tim and Zack have no family except for each other. Tim is very intelligent, while Zack has always been the more athletic of the two. Since the outbreak, Tim has always been focused on trying to find survivors and a safe place to live, Zack almost seemed to enjoy the lack of civilization in the beginning. Their years in Afghanistan and military training allow the pair to have no problem shooting to kill, but after months of witnessing horrible events like the fall of Toronto, they’ve started to lose a piece of their humanity and the new way of life has started to wear them down, even Zack. They long for something normal.

Tim recently broke his leg and has it in a make-shift splint, which has significantly slowed the two down and they have almost no food left.

“Is everyone dead?”
“Dead-ish”
“Is everyone dead?”
“Yeah, in the sense that they all, sort of, fell down, and then got up and started eating each other.”
