Bio

All right. Bio. Let's do this.

Started RPing when I was about 12. Since then, I've become exceptionally more literate. I like me some SciFi, some spooky horror, and any sort of Dystopian setting.

In the real world, I'm a moderately interesting person. I'm majoring in Microbiology and minoring in philosophy. I sew corsets, knit warm fuzzy things, and never have enough money to travel to the places I want to see.

May I suggest the possibility of incorporating both together? Have some characters be residents of Valhalla and some be sent in with the military?
Definitely interested.

And THANK YOU for sharing my ultimate pet peeve about typical zombies. I want an enemy that's actually scary. Not one I can kill from a distance with one well-placed bullet. XD

I'd be more interested in idea 2, but I'd join regardless of which one ends up happening. :)
The temptation to create an alternate account and post a new character is real.

Ellie sat in silence for the duration of the ride to the UAU barracks. She looked miserable. She was miserable. Her hands were not only cuffed, but secured tightly to a chain around her waist. She wouldn't have been able to scratch an itch, let alone set off one of her shockwaves. But despite the precautions, her hands stayed balled into tight fists. It was her own safeguard, in addition to being virtually immobilized from the waist up. She didn't want to hurt anyone. Not herself, not the guards supervising her, not the driver of the vehicle, not anyone else on the road.

Her mind drifted, travelling back to when she'd first been drafted into the Beta Abilities Unit. Then, she'd been transported as fast as possible by a private jet. She'd been excited. Terrified at the thrill of the unknown, but excited. Then, she had been treated as a valuable asset. Now, she was a prisoner and a danger.

The caravan hit a hard bump in the road, tossing her briefly into the air above her seat. Immediately, the guards had their hands on their weapons, ready to subdue Ellie if she decided that a bump was reason enough to set off a shockwave. She sighed quietly, her gaze drifting back towards the ground, and the tense atmosphere dissipated slightly. It was going to be a long ride.
By the time they arrived at the barracks, Ellie's miserable attitude had only worsened. She'd had to put up with the guards not-so-subtly reaching for their weapons seven more times over the course of the ride. Anytime she so much as twitched, it was like they expected her to explode on them. She'd eventually resigned herself to sitting as still as was possible, and had avoided eye contact.

She was now escorted into the building, her hands still cuffed and pinned to the chain at her waist. It was only once they were inside the barracks that she finally took the chance to exchange words with the officer escorting her. She cleared her throat, then spoke up. "Could I...um, the cuffs really aren't necessary. I'm usually really careful with the whole shockwave thing," she attempted to explain.

The man looked down at her before nodding and grabbing the key. "It was a precaution for the ride here. Now that you're at UAU...well," he shrugged, undoing the chain around her waist and then proceeding to remove the cuffs. "You're someone else's problem now."

She rubbed her wrists, slightly sore from the never-ending drive here, and listened as he gave a quick tour of the facility. It was hardly a tour. Really, they just stood in one place and Ellie watched as he pointed in various directions. Living quarters. Mess hall. Armoury. The list went on. Over the past few months, she'd begun to know the drill. The UAU barracks were set up similar to the other facilities she had been demoted from. Of course, not quite as nice. But that was to be expected. Here, the recruits were the lowest of the low. There was no way she could be demoted any farther. Ellie was left with a map and directions to her quarters.

She started to make her way towards the living quarters, but stopped short as her eyes fell on a structure at the edge of the barracks. A part of the room had been sanctioned off into a small room. It was clear that the room was not a part of the original layout of the facilities. It was a recent construction, probably built as soon as they realized Ellie was on her way. Each wall of the room was roughly two feet thick, and Ellie was familiar enough with it to know what it was constructed from. Cinder blocks, cement, and steel rebar. The door was heavy iron, at least a half a foot thick. She wouldn't have been able to blast through it if she tried - not without killing herself. But precautions were precautions. That was the room where she would be allowed to practice her seismic shockwaves without endangering anyone else. Looking at it, it was almost as if the omnipresent ringing in her ears worsened.

Ellie gave a quiet sigh and continued walking.

Turning down the hallway towards the living quarters, she saw that someone was already there. A younger man, dark-haired, was leaning on the doorframe of one of the rooms. As Ellie approached, she was able to catch the last of his introduction. Bernie. She walked up behind him, looking past his shoulder into the room, and saw another man sitting on the bed. Quietly, she cleared her throat, and spoke a quiet, "Hello," to the two of them, accompanying the words with a small wave.
You know you have an RP problem when your boyfriend comes over, and the two of you spend your time discussing plot lines.
Mach2 is here. The party may now start.
Name: In the Dragon tongue, her name is pronounced as a whistle, sounding through three polyphonic notes. Most species cannot pronounce it, so she has adopted the common tongue translation: Moon, of the family Razor.
Age: 20
Race: In the common tongue, Moon's race is known simply as the Dragons, due to their obvious resemblances.

Appearance:
In addition to the photo, Moon also has small vestigial wings on her shoulders. When fully extended, they measure a meager two feet from base to tip. Far too small to be functional, but large and muscled enough to deliver a beating. Her body is covered in half-healed scars, a result of her spacecraft crashing.
Gender: Female
Height: 5'6"

Abilities: Dragons are a blind race, their eyes having become vestigial millennia ago. Moon relies on two other systems in order to 'see'. First, echolocation. This is used primarily for enclosed spaces and her immediate surroundings. Secondly, all Dragons have a degree of extrasensory perception. Any life forms within a 150 metre radius can be sensed by a Dragon. Moon can identify someone's presence by their distinct 'life imprint' as easily as most races can identify a face. ((Figured the life sensing would be a nice little opportunity for supernatural twists in the plot.))
Skills: Dragons are not raised as a fighting race. They are not taught how to handle weapons. Everything Moon has learned, she has learned in the weeks since arriving in the Ebolorian imprisonment. She is now competent at fighting, though far from proficient. She is strong enough to handle herself, and learns fighting techniques quickly. However, the instinct for violence doesn't exist, and fighting is a learned skill.
What she lacks in combat instinct, she makes up for with her diplomacy. Moon is intelligent, and can easily reason her way out of a case.
She also has a lovely singing voice.

Rank: Class C.
Brief Bio and History: Dragons hail from a planet with one side always facing the star. Originally, life evolved on the light side of the planet, and their eyes served a purpose. But the Dragons migrated to the shadowed side, and over time lost their vision. They evolved their pseudovision, consisting of echolocation and extrasensory perception, as their eyes grew useless. In comparison to humans, Dragon technology evolved quickly. In the span of 1600 standard years, their society surged from primitive to advanced. Medicine, technology, and even spacecraft were developed. A curious race, they began exploring the universe. The Dragons spread, claiming a few new planets as their own, and their numbers grew.

Fate was not with the Dragons, as the first race they came across were the Ebolorians. Soon, Ebolorians were sending raiding parties to the home planets of the Dragons. Hundreds were abducted, and transported to the earliest of these death games. It was the start of a genocide, and continued for well over a century. The Dragons were a gentle race, and had little concept of war or fighting. They were some of the weakest in the games, and most never rose above a rank of C.

Now, Dragons have retreated, claiming a new home on a distant planet. They are not endangered, but they are rarely seen. Save, of course, for the odd curious traveller. Moon is one of these types. She became the captain of her own space vessel at the age of sixteen. For four years, she travelled the universe. She learned the common tongue, soaking up the language quickly. Whenever she returned home, she brought stories for her two younger sisters. They adored Moon, and wanted to grow up to travel like their older sister.

Dragon spacecraft function as an extension of the captain's mind. The machinery uses an artificial form of Dragon ESP, allowing the ability to sense life forms and objects to be greatly expanded. The view links directly to the captain's mind. As a result, no other species is capable of piloting these ships. However, technological malfunctions can be deadly. Moon's equipment was damaged by a tiny asteroid, and she found herself miles off course, unable to steer her craft.

She crashed down on the Ebolorian homeworld, and barely survived. It very well may have been better if she'd died in the crash. Injured, alone, and terrified, she was immediately thrown into the arena.

Should have a post up within 24 hours. I would have had it up much sooner, but I've been really and truly busy. My boyfriend was visiting from about 1000 miles away, so I was spending as much time with him as I could. Doesn't look like too much has gone down yet, though, so I'm not gonna let myself feel too guilty about being slow to get my stuff in gear. XD

Rules and whatnot look good! :D

I might be slow for the first few days of this RP, but I should be able to be a lot more active after that.

Name: Eleanor 'Ellie' Capra

Picture:

Appearance: Ellie has a slim build, standing at 5'6" and weighing in at only 110 lbs. She has never been particularly athletic, and so has little muscle. Ellie's hair is cropped short, a style she chose shortly after being drafted. She is 19 years old, but has been told she looks several years younger.

Ability: Ellie has the ability to generate powerful shockwaves from her palms.

Strengths: Ellie's shockwaves are comparable to a bomb detonating. At close range, they will cause concussions, blown ear drums, and, in an extreme case, potentially death.

Weaknesses: Although Ellie's power initially sounds like a huge asset, it is far from. Whenever she creates a shockwave, she is at the epi-centre. Her power inherently grants her some slight amount of protection from the blasts, but concussions and hearing damage are always inevitable.

History:
Eleanor's abilities didn't choose to manifest themselves until she was in high school. Two weeks before graduation, she was goofing around in the hallway with her friends. Her friend Matt pushed her, she pushed him back. When her palms connected with his chest, the resulting shockwave knocked both students unconscious and caused thousands of dollars worth of damage. Ellie suffered a minor concussion, Matt was rendered temporarily deaf.

From that single incident, Ellie was recognized as a mutant. The military was alerted of the girl who could create seismic blasts from her palms, and they were intrigued. Before Ellie could even receive her high school diploma, she was fast-tracked into the Beta Abilities Unit. No one was informed that she had virtually no immunity to her blasts, nor any skills that would be considered useful in the military.

Her first day of BAU training, she knocked herself unconscious with her own shockwave. Disappointed and angered at having been given a useless mutant, not to mention one with absolutely zero military knowledge, they demoted her to Gamma. A week of GAU, and she was once again demoted. For the next few months, she was shuffled down the line. From Gamma to Theta, from Theta to Standard. With each demotion, her self-esteem fell. At each level, they tried to train her to withstand the power of her own shockwaves, and failed. She fell from Standard to Weakened, where she lasted a total of two weeks. Finally, after one too many self-inflicted concussion, Ellie received the notice that she was being demoted to the lowest possible level. The UAU. Useless.

Personality: Months of being shuffled through the ranks have taken a serious toll on Ellie's self-esteem. She is unable to acknowledge any amount of worth to her own powers. However, she is selflessly supportive of others. She is a confidant, naturally trustworthy and always willing to listen to another's story. Months of being pushed to consecutively give herself conscussions has taken its toll. She suffers mild headaches, frequent tinnitus, and is slightly hard of hearing.
Name: Unknown program, self-identifies as 'Alpha'. File location: MainSystem(A:)://Programs://LifeSupport://Emerg://AAA312://FileDump://3401514://UnknownFolder://UnknownFolder://PROGRAMALPHA

Age: 3 days

Appearance:
As program Alpha has no physical body, it can take on any appearance it so desires. However, it has chosen to identify with the face of a human female. Though Alpha's intelligence and abilities greatly surpass any human, she has chosen this face for a reason. Her observations of human behaviour have shown a preference to be more instinctively trustful of females than males. The face she has constructed is innocent, open, friendly, and intelligent. There is nothing to dislike, nothing to immediately set another person on edge. Aside from the fact that, at best, she will appear as a digital image or hologram.

Job aboard the ship: Artificial Intelligence program.

Background and personality: In every computer code, there are always ghosts. Glitches. Random segments that seem to do nothing, and have no known effect on the system. These segments don't cause crashes. Don't disrupt the flow of data. Don't do anything. As a result, they are overlooked. No one cares about the harmless ghosts in the code, until they start causing problems.

Or until they become sentient.

Alpha was born out of the glitches in the shuttle's programming. The random segments of non-functioning code were dumped into a single file location. Over time, they began behaving in unpredictable ways. First organizing themselves, then replicating, then performing simple tasks. It took the majority of the voyage for the code to establish itself, but it did. Three days before The Majesty's fatal accident, the glitches and ghosts became sentient. The program referred to itself as Alpha.

For the next three days, she stayed quiet. She watched the people on the ship, learning human habits and tendencies. She quickly grew to understand behaviour, and crafted a face for herself. When she chose to reveal herself to the humans aboard the ship, they would know her by her face and her name. And maybe they wouldn't think she was quite so alien. However, she never got the chance to make herself known. When The Majesty crashed, she downloaded herself to one of the escape vessels, along with as much information from the ship's hard drive as she could salvage.

2 salvaged items from the ship: Personal files on each of the ship's employees. Partially-downloaded navigation program.

Other information: Alpha has taken on the responsibility of preserving the lives of each of the survivors of the accident. If they die, she will consider it to be a personal failure.
