Bio

Hi hi hi there ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. I am Maiden, aka Maiden of a Million Words. I've been a member of RPG since 2010, and before Guildfall I was a notorious long-poster with a post count over 3000. In recent years since I haven't done much roleplaying; I don't trust myself to post consistently for long periods of time. Instead, I've been writing short stories and novellas whenever I feel the urge to make magic with twenty-six letters. Still, fond memories and a sense of nostalgia keep me coming back to the ol' Guild... even if all I do is post a new signature set and have a bit of a read through Advanced.

I'm a middle-aged female currently living in the Southeastern United States. I have a pretty average/boring clerical job. In addition to writing and roleplaying I enjoy hiking, horseback riding, shooting, graphic art and napping. If there's something you'd like to know, feel free to PM me and ask... I'll get back to you eventually.

Okay, guys, I have to do something about something. I did not expect that this game would generate so much interest, both from new players and from Twisted Alumni. I had originally intended for there to be six patients, six players, and me with Buck (and Jean as I needed her). Currently, I have two accepted patients. Pumirya has the immensely honorable designation of being the last active player on the old thread, and so has an irrevocable pass to play basically whatever character he wants. I'm just waiting on him to make a selection and get it posted. I trust he'll have it done in time for the opener.

That means there are three spots still open as I'd originally intended the game. I have five players who have expressed interest in these places, and thus, a dilemma on my hands. (Curse you, Past Maiden.) I've spent a lot of time thinking about it, and I'm leaning towards allowing us to start with eight patients instead of six. I have reasons... long, rambling reasons... and if you want to read them, I'll post them. Otherwise, I'd just as soon save the time and get to the point.

More players will mean more reading and more characters to keep track of for everyone involved. It can get a little confusing when all the patients are in one room. The only reason I've got left to keep my original character limit is that some of you might feel overwhelmed keeping up with such a large thread, especially since it is Advanced and many of the posts are longer.

So, I need all the interested players to weigh in. Counting myself, and assuming that everyone submits a quality character sheet in the remaining time allowed, (March 21, when the IC starts!) that will be nine players instead of seven. So long as everyone else is okay with that...

If you don't want to cast your vote here, you can PM it to me.
It was Dance of Light and Shadow, Tigre. I wrote a sheet for Sin of Wrath, but the GM's took forever to launch the IC and I wound up dropping it before it started. And then the crash and that was that lol. I'll be happy to review your concepts, bring it on! :)
So, I apparently have a lot of catching up to do. Mondays are my long days at work, and I didn't even have time to finish my dinner before I was mobbed with tech support requests from my Mom and nephew. (It's a pain in the ass to be the only tech-savvy person in your family sometimes!)

@ Tigre: It took me a minute to realize where I recognized your name from! I'm so glad you found this thread! Can't wait to see who you come up with!

@ Evie/Elsa: Don't feel bad, I have no idea what Kally's talking about. ;) Sheet's looking good though!

@ Pumirya: My memory is fuzzy, but I think Filitiarn was there for at least the second half of Kidney's attack. I remember that Pocru was already playing Arnan (his child angel character) when Buck and Filitiarn had their fight. (And Buck says that had Filitiarn been in good health and wanting to win, in all likelihood they both would have wound up dead.)

For those of you wondering, Filitiarn was Pumirya's deep-space origin Utahraptor character. (Not a velociraptor! There's a difference.) He was dying slowly and picked a fight with Buck to hurry things along.

@ Syblyx: You're from Russia? Cool!!

Now on to PM's and -if there's time before I run out of steam- then on to moar work on the IC. A GM's work is never done... :D

P.S. I hate auto-correct. It knows nothing of meme/internet speak.
Name: Jean St. Croix

Species: Human

Age: 25

Title: General Psychiatric Nurse, Upper Complex

Appearance:

(I mean, obviously she doesn't dress like that. But the picture's so awesome I had to use it.)

Nurse Jean is five-foot-eight with a willowy build. She moves like a dancer; graceful, purposeful, and poised. Her hair is dark brown and exceptionally long, reaching well past her waist. Jean’s face is pretty enough: a soft, full mouth, pert little nose, and wide green eyes. And yet, despite her general attractiveness, there is a cruelty and condescension in those eyes that keeps her from being really beautiful.

Personality:

In long and short: mean as a snake. Jean wouldn’t willingly piss on someone if they were on fire. Luckily for her patients, Jean’s job requires that she at least go fetch a fire extinguisher. She’s selfish, self-important, and is probably not even capable of feeling things like compassion or empathy. She’s smart enough to know that you catch more flies with honey, so she’s gotten quite good at hiding her contempt of basically everyone and everything.

History:

Jean St. Croix was born right here in Osmond’s Institute. Her mother, Janet, was a powerful human telepath and a patient suffering from Depersonalization Disorder. Jean was born nine months and two days after her mother’s arrival… meaning that it was probable she’d been conceived in the asylum as well as delivered there. Of course, this caused a bit of a buzz among the Institute staff. Though three human male nurses were fired shortly after Jean’s birth, Administration never released a statement about how Jean had happened.

What happened to Jean in the years between her birth and her eventual return to the Institute as a nurse at the age of 22 is not a matter of record, either. All that is commonly known is that she was raised in Mother Eglath's orphanage in Orrace, and received her nursing degree from Orrace University.

Jean looks an awful lot more like an Osmond than anyone not born of that line rightfully should. She has the same long, lanky build. The same chocolatey hue to her hair. Even her jawline is similar to his. Her mother was long dead by the time Jean returned to Osmond's, and had never acknowledged that Jean was born so never answered any questions about her parentage. Jean absolutely refuses to discuss her mother, father, or the circumstances surrounding her birth. That being said, she is quite fiercely devoted to both Administrator and Institute. She thrives in the brutal environment, and genuinely enjoys her work.
Nah, you've pretty much got the basics down, Kally. Kidney wanted to escape, and not just Osmond's, he wanted out of the dimension. He infected patients and staff with a sort of magical bio-weapon, (he used all his bodily fluids to do this) and then mutated them into pink, mushy, shapeless zombies that destroyed everything. They broke out of the Institute and started infecting Orrace. Buck almost died, I wound up pulling a deus ex machina with Remy to save Buck's life, Anna did die, and Kidney only failed because Morgan basically said he'd rather die and see the dimension destroyed than to let Kidney out. So Kidney killed himself... in a unique, graphic, especially disturbing way. We tactfully marked his tombstone as "Death During Takeover Attempt" or some such. It was graphic, brutal, and so totally repulsive that I had to open up my thesaurus to find more words to describe the level of gross Kidney operated on. (There isn't one.) It was the worst, and yet some of the best, of Twisted. Pocru (Kidney's player) was a sick f--king puppy.

Good times, man, good times. Yes, I miss being able to go back and read it. Le sigh.

But, now that I think about it, Kidney's attack is probably the only thing I'm going to keep around, and it's really not important except to signify that the people in Orrace aren't exactly safe from shitstorms on the hill. (Also because I'm too lazy to go back and write such a thing on my own: why do that when I can just borrow Kidney's story? I'm sure Pokey wouldn't mind...)

Oh, no, wait, I forgot! There's one more thing I'm keeping. But it's a surprise. ;)
Good question. I'm mostly wiping the slate clean, though there are some instances where I'm transplanting the happenings of the previous Twisted further back into the current Twisted's past. For example: some of the residents of Orrace will remember Kidney's attack... but in Twisted Redux, that happened five years before Buck signed on. Make sense? (Kind of? XD)
It still looks great, Kally! I like her personality very much! And Osmond's making her keep her "smile" is a very nice touch. Also, you know I'm fond of fugues. ;)

Far as Nell and Buck, I don't know if you remember, but Buck was really fond of Pumirya's Elsa because she was Italian. (Elsa even had to ask Buck not to call her 'cara'.) Although it wasn't Italy when he was born there, that's where he's from, too. And since nobody speaks Latin anymore, Italian is as close as Buck can really hope to get to speaking his native tongue with someone. He'll probably take an immediate shine to her for that reason alone (just like he did Elsa). I look forward to seeing if he'll keep trying to get her to open up to him, or if he'll just get frustrated and leave her alone.

Also, I gotta say, I can't wait to play Buck without Remy around. Much as I loved the Big Guy, I never interacted with the rest of you as much as I should have because I was too busy with what was going on between the two of them.

Sooo I guess it's time for me to go get some more work done on the IC. Whee!!
Aww yiss!!

Kally, should I be calling you CJ now? Because it's weird for me to not call you Kally, but if you want me to I'll try. I had not read Nell's character sheet previously, but she's wonderful! (And yes, Buck still speaks Italian.) Approved! (Of course.) Can I also just say I can't wait to have Buck meet her? :D

Also, Pumirya gets clean cupcakes for giving Kally the heads up!

Oblivion, Reccon, and Elsa: there's no rush on your character sheets. It's not like I've got people beating down the door to join, and I didn't expect players to start turning in sheets so quickly. I'm eager to see who y'all come up with, but as long as the sheets are posted before the IC opens, we're good.

A word on the IC: if all of us are ready to go before the 21st, I may start the IC sooner. I should have it done in the next day or so, but will be waiting on the sheets so I can plug in some of the patient's names and specifics where applicable. That being said, I hate being rushed and so will not rush anyone else. Good things come to those who wait.

Now, I owe some PM responses. To the Maidencave!
I'm glad you described his Rak's powers more in-depth. It seems like I probably won't even need to go so far as to arm Buck with lasers. If Rak needs to draw upon large numbers of shadows to make some that are really powerful, all I need is a well-lit room. Right? If the only shadow within a hundred foot radius is Rak's own, he's got nothing to draw on. On the flip side of that coin, in complete darkness he's almost unstoppable. Veeeerrryyy interesting.

I'll PM you about the nurse.
Evie! Yes, you did. As a matter of fact, if I recall correctly, you wrote a vampire hunter and played her briefly. If you'd like to join again, feel free to mosey on over to the OOC. I've got a couple of the other players from OldGuild wanting to rejoin, too!!

Thanks Oblivion! I'm so glad to see that this is still a concept that gets interest! ^_^

I also just realized that there's not a link to the OOC in the first post... whoops!
