Setup Material:

- Setting: Late at night. After a journey that took almost half a year, _______ has found the sorcerer. He lives in a small cottage nestled in a valley, about a league from the nearest village. There's a terrible storm going on and she's exhausted, ready for this journey to end.
- the girl comes to the magician, desperate for help. She's so young and naive. She won't survive on her own if someone doesn't teach her how. But how can he teach her to control her powers when he hates himself for having the same gifts?
- In your kingdom, magic is just barely tolerated and your father is trying to get rid of it. But you yourself possess magical powers. You've been kept away from people your whole life, an embarrassment to your royal family. One night, you run away. You travel a nearly impossible distance, even across an ocean, to find the son of a powerful sorceress who you believe can teach you to control your power. But what if it turns out he doesn't want to?

Character Descriptions

I tend to be random with my bodily details.
Hands here, knees there. Mostly hair and bright eyes.
Brow creasemarks, necks strained especially, a limp, cheekbones
or the folds in skin as a body moves. Reaction takes, etc.
I kinda transitioned through certain phrases of writing
- only thoughts
- only action
- only description
Thankfully, now I'm a (better) mix of all! ^___^
Well, somewhat still in the description part.
Which is probably why this thread so appeals to me.

I don't mention weight usually because one, it's complicated
(what is a foot and can I say everybody weighs 50-60kg instead?)
and two unless, it involves sentences along the lines of:
"That kid looks like they weigh a quarter of a truck"
and or, "Wow, those veins man. Scary movie3.", thinking the units
exactly a person weighs is irrelevant in my book.

I do however, notice height is more of a staple in my
writing than others. Weird. Never thought of it before.
@vilageidiotx brought up something else I hadn't thought of before
until now.

Maybe since (most, casual or otherwise) RPs are more about
telling than showing, prose is based mostly on telling about
the sort of impression you're supposed to get.
Given people are different and imagine differently from individual
to individual, @foster's point then, about keeping things nice and vague
to accommodate the other person- which I had admittedly,
first scoffed at- fits better too..

Creating your own world is easy.

I love world building.
Creating logic where there would be none
should be a national sport imho.
Maybe it already is.

However, the funniest (and perhaps most useful)
resource I've been directed after sharing my
love for the stuff has been an article on
creating sewage systems. Hydraulic goodiness!

maybe this is a thread for group players.
I would thus agree on being intimidated by
non-fantasy worlds. What are the offerings otherwise?
Unless you mean fantasy that's more focused.
Ie, creatures, weapons, monsters of the week, etc.

Aside from the easy adaptation thing, which @lucius outlined
rather brilliantly above- I'd say yes, it is indeed
about how easily the ideas are understood, what they can take,
breed, etc. Do you have a more concrete example
of what you perceive or have found to be a more difficult
integration into the wider audience?

In all's honesty, I don't think about liking a world
or not. It's more about how the characters interact and
or what happens within it. Not leaving out of course,
what I can do with it *_*

The character you REALLY want to play

Hard one. Mostly, it's just rejected ideals.
I guess off the top of my head:

- frequent narcoleptic in the waking world
- human sacrifice
- 40 year olds with existing crushes
- comic druggie
- eccentric mistress of wrongly ordered slave
- little girl obsessed with girls and shoes
- a skunk with the lives of a phoenix
- a talking mushroom
- house pixies making trouble on a farm
- spoiled pets
- street beggar
- blind man living in foreign land
- kid that opens locks
- crazy fortune teller turns caring stalker

Huh. Why are most of my only (RP) characters who
are female, all on this list? T__T Otherwise,
more plots than characters which is triple sad
T__T
