It's been seven months since the start of the war. When North Korea finally made good on its threats against Washington, the Pentagon building was the first casualty, the nuclear fallout sending the nation into a panic, surging westward toward the center of the country. Capitalizing on the upheaval, Isis took its revenge on the UK, firing missiles that took out a good quarter of the royal navy. With all of Europe drawn into the fray, it took weeks for anyone to realize that the strain of influenza making the rounds was anything out of the ordinary. By the time the CDC had done their due diligence, the death toll had reached one million. Another bomb dropped, this time in Paris. Brussels was next. More grew ill, and the number of bodies climbed. Two million. Three. People were getting more and more ill, and the bombs continued to rain down, almost indiscriminately.

As fear turned to panic, as fallout shelters began springing up across the globe in response to the madness that was World War III, a signal began broadcasting over the radio, an advertisement of sorts. Black Dawn Academy, a political/military training facility for gifted youths. The advertisement was brief, concise. It called for students between the ages of 17 and 21 to take an aptitude test online, those who performed to standards were offered sanctuary and training at Black Dawn, where they would learn the skills they would need to survive the war and help rebuild the world, after. Application was open; regardless of alliance, race, religion, creed, or country. Parents, desperate to save at least one or sometimes even two of their children, encouraged their offspring to take the test, risking their lives to leave bomb shelters and safe zones to gain access to the internet and a chance at survival.

What I'm looking for:
Definitely not looking for a big group. 5-7 max, and since inevitably someone(s) will drop out, we can add more if and as needed. I'm looking for characters between 16 and 21 years old with some sort of outstanding qualities that make them special enough to be hand chosen from among the thousands of applicants. I'm not looking for Mary-Sues, Anime girls, superheroes, etc. Black Dawn Academy is a highly-secretive training area, its location so secret that not even those that attended it are aware of what country houses it. Physical military training, political science training, leadership workshops, survival training, and more are all taught at Black Dawn, a place that will break down the best of the best and then build them up into something even better.

Which brings us to here:
Are you interested? I thought you might be. In lieu of the traditional CS, what I'd like is the answers to the OSA (Online Segmented Assessment), as outlined here:

Online Segmented Assessment

1)
2) City/State/Country of Origin
3) What do you consider the most important quality in a leader, and why?
4) Describe a time when you could have demonstrated good leadership skills, but failed to do so.
5) If you were the leader of a world power, what are the first three steps you would take toward ending the war?
6) In wartime, which is more important - military protocol, or the morale of the people?
7) Throughout all of history, name the leader whose style you would most closely emulate, and why.
8) Rank the following in order of least to most important: Wilderness survival, espionage training, getting a good night's rest, the art of persuasion, martial prowess, agricultural skill.
9) Which do you think has the capacity to be more dangerous in the long-term - the ongoing war, or the illness ravaging the population?
10) Describe your personality in in one concise paragraph.

Still accepting apps. Please post (or re-post as the case may be) your CS to this OOC thread BEFORE your first IC post, please. If you edit any info, please seek approval of the new details BEFORE your first IC post, please.
Not waiting any longer, kiddos. IC is starting today - hold for post.

@Mr_pink

Still waiting on you kids.
@Crazy Doctor

Anyone and everyone is welcome to fill out the OSA form, it's not something anyone needs permission for. The more to choose from, the better.
@Little Loser

Sure thing, just post here when you're ready and we'll take a look.
Looking good, I'm going to wait for at least one more. I'll be adding a character to the mix as well.
Keep them coming.

It's been less than a week. I don't think anyone committed to posting more often than that, so this might just be a slow mover. I'll take slow, good RP over fast-posting mediocre RP any day.
Name: Malena "Mal" Beauchamp
Age: 14
Height: 4'10

Background: A legacy Freshman at Shermer High School, Malena has three older brothers, each one a year ahead of the other; a sophomore, a junior, and a senior. What this means for Malena is that in the upper grades, anybody that is anybody knows who this Froshie cheerleader is. Whether that is a good or bad thing is up to the other person to decide. One of the 'mean girls' in her year, Malena is a fashion-savvy overachiever with no qualms about cutting others down to size. Dismissive of 'alternative' style, she has little time to waste on people that think being popular is a waste of time. Networking begins now if one wants to get ahead in life, later. Therefore, it is her duty as a cheerleader, community service member, and aspiring Class President to REAM ANYONE THAT DOESN'T CONFORM TO HER STANDARDS. Ahem.

The illness that ran through the town was something of a major setback for Malena. A broken wrist from falling at the start of her seizure was the least of her annoyances - being ferried from one testing facility to another and being singled out as 'something odd' did not sit well with her, at all. Upon release, Malena was anxious to get back to school and get on with her life - but there is something about a neurological seizure that makes life as you know it somewhat unknowable. Already suffering from something of a superiority complex, suddenly having everyone around her slower, dumber, and seemingly less intuitive than a sack of bricks made Malena anxious, yearning for the company of more like-minded individuals. And so for the first time ever, she found herself seeking those who were different; looking outside of her tight-knit A-Lister circle for other victims of the Seizure.

Appearance:

'...I know what you're going to say before you say it - and trust me, it's every bit as stupid as you're worried it will sound.'

Supporting Characters:
1. Connor Beauchamp - age 15. Sophomore at Shermer High. First-baseman on the JV baseball team. Malena's youngest older brother. An explosive temper coupled with the charm of a potential date rapist makes Connor one of the 'bad boys' that every girl's mother warns them about. He didn't suffer the seizures and doesn't think they were such a big deal, and jokingly refers to the victims as 'Radioactives'. Not that his disdain would stop him from hooking up with one, if she was hot. He's perpetually single and ready to mingle.
2. Brett Beachamp - age 16. Junior at Shermer High. Point-guard on the Varsity basketball team. Malena's middle older brother. Far from fitting the stereotype of a high school jock, Brett is an intellectual, through and through. When he isn't on the court practicing, he takes classes at the local community college to pad out his transcripts. A poet with the roguish charm to match, Brett is a ladies' man, the type of gentleman every girl's mother hopes she'll bring home one day. He's currently quasi-single - his girlfriend was a victim of the seizures, but is one of the students that never returned to Shermer after the media frenzy died down.
3. Alec Beauchamp - age 17. Senior at Shermer High. Wide-receiver on the Varsity football team. Malena's oldest brother. A 'hometown hero' in the making, Alec is currently being courted by a handful of Division-1 universities for his skills on the football field. As charismatic as he is talented, Alec embraces his small-town god status, carrying himself with a superstar's swagger. He's inclusive however, and always has a compliment or congratulations ready for anyone nearby, earning him a reputation as an all-around good guy. If he's not particularly intelligent, he more than makes up for it by working hard at the things he does excel in. He's single and always ready to mingle!
4. Megan Stiles - age 14. Freshman at Shermer High. Mousy and somewhat shy, she's one of Malena's friends from elementary school and despite not fitting into Malena's social circle per se, she's nevertheless a near constant companion of her blonde overlord. Gopher would be the correct term, as she's always happy to fetch Malena's books or Evian water on demand. Pretty in a brown-haired, sweet and innocent sort of way, Malena goes out of her way to keep boys from getting handsy with her gal-pal, and there are rumors (Unfounded rumors! But this -is- High School after all) that the domme/sub dynamic of their 'friendship' extends beyond the walls of the high school.
(If anyone is interested in playing a character at all like this one but having undergone the Seizure, I'll happily delete this entry in favor of a player's version.)
Looking for tie-ins to characters that are either Popular or Academic, besties and rivals are good fun if anyone wants to start as 'not strangers' - if that's okay with Legion/Poet, that is. Also feel free to get in touch with me if your character would have a tie in with my bad boy brother, my artsy intellectual brother, or my rising star athlete brother. All could use ex or potential girlfriends, friends on or off the athletic teams, etc.
