I just realized that the second possibility in my last post (war between the city-states, the possibility my character hopes doesn't happen) would form a much more interesting plot, providing direction and something to do for all characters (I assume the hunter-gatherers would get involved in the war), than the first.

Whoops.

(I leave the choice of whether Bisonskull declares war or not to you, CLIW. And though my original intention was a peaceful merge, I do realize that war is the more interesting event, plot-wise)
Martin paused. That was it? He expected a little more resistance to the idea of a random stranger being allowed to talk directly to the queen. Still, it didn't matter, especially not in this storm approaching closer and closer. So Martin replied, "Excellent! Let us hurry, then." He hurriedly updated the line on the road map and followed the guards as they approached Crowhead, which was slowly becoming more and more visible.

Martin turned around and saw the trail he had left behind. His footprints were most definitely going to be wiped out in the incoming storm. Hopefully word of Martin's visit to Crowhead wouldn't reach Bisonskull until his business there was over. This storm, he realized, was actually a boon to him; his father would no doubt have him brought back to Bisonskull as soon as he was found, paying no mind to the future that such an action would prevent. Once Martin did what he'd come to do, his father would be forced to allow it.

Either that, or the city-states of Crowhead and Bisonskull would find themselves at war with each other.

Martin preferred not to think about that possibility.
(Apologies for doubleposting, but) Is there any posting order? Can I just post right now, or should I wait for someone else to post?
Martin Smith, in a fur coat, walked through the icy landscape. Holding an ancient road map in one hand and a pen in the other, he trudged west on the ruins of I-70. On the map was a crudely-scribbled X depicting the location of the city-state of Bisonskull, and a circle depicting the location of his destination: the city-state of Crowhead. As he walked, Martin drew a line to show his route.

To unite Crowhead and Bisonskull, we'd need a central road between the two. What better way to do so than to build upon the wreckage of I-70? he decided. Indeed, the crumbled highway made up most of Martin's route.

Past Crowhead, farther along I-70 were the ruins of the ancient city of Denver. Martin wished he could go there. But his business in Crowhead was far more important.

Suddenly, Martin noticed something quite worrying. A fog began to descend on the area. The sun was setting, and the clouds were unusually dark. A storm? Martin walked faster. And faster. Soon, he was running. He hadn't prepared for a storm!

In limited visibility, he saw a few silhouettes in the distance. Deciding that anyone was better than being alone in this soon-to-be storm, Martin ran up to them. Close up, Martin could see that they were Crowhead scouts.

"Scouts of Crowhead!" he called. "I come from Bisonskull with an urgent request. Would you transport me to Queen Keria Upel?"
Smiling, Mariana bowed and withdrew from the businessman.

So they were to receive Pokedexes as well. Well, that was natural; DEPTH's lead product was Pokedexes, after all. Mariana wondered why no one had yet thought to simply add a Pokedex application to, say, the Pokenav, or Pokegear. That would deal a huge blow to DEPTH.

She blinked. Actually... that's a great idea! I absolutely need to remember that for later.

Setting her mind back to the present, Mariana found herself wondering for the first time about the other new trainers in the building. They were all beneath her, yes, but during this journey they'd all be her peers, unfortunately. And if the media was to be believed, it was most common to travel with a companion or two. As unappetizing a thought as companionship was, not doing so could impact her reputation. So, she looked over each of her options and their advantages.

The weak, frail girl with the disobedient Togepi, if Mariana remembered correctly, had some connection to the Cain family.

The kid with the black hat had some connection to Professor Oak.

The Andre Bellamy impersonator could provide some comedic relief.

The major disadvantage to all of them, or really any companion at all, was that she had little leeway to work on her own goals on the island. She could do the more subtle things, but, among other things, the DEPTH headquarters were entirely off-limits.

Looking over all of them, though, made Mariana remember that they all had their Pokemon out, and she didn't.

Quickly she headed outside. She worried a little about maybe missing the Pokedex, but it was a worry muted by excitement.

Once outside, she tossed Lancelot's Pokeball nervously, hoping she had done it correctly and wasn't merely chucking a ball into the air. A flash of light occurred, and once it subsided Mariana saw the long blue snake, with its white belly and snout, staring back at her.

"W-well," Mariana began, without much knowledge of how to talk to a Pokemon. They mostly had somewhat human intelligence, right? She cleared her throat. "Greetings. I am Mariana Coelho, your new trainer. I look forward to-"

Mariana was in the middle of her sentence when she realized the Dratini had lost interest in her speech, and instead approached the little girl drawing on the bench.
I was rather busy yesterday night and today... I'll post tomorrow.
Name: Martin Smith
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Hunter-Gatherer or City-Dweller?: City-Dweller (?)
Rank: Foreign dignitary
Appearance: Martin stands at 5'11'', with a thin build, brown hair and hazel eyes. With both a fascination with the pre-Ice Age world and a need, as royalty, to look the best, Martin often has clothing that in some way dates back to the era. Though like most other people he wears a hooded fur coat, he had someone make a backpack, like people back in that time used to wear (though it's little more than an unstructured leather bag with a rope strap). He has a compass which still works (why wouldn't it?) and he has a pistol with a single bullet remaining (bullets being very difficult to come by now). Finally, he wears a cross on a necklace.
Personality: Enthralled with his great-grandfather's stories of the glorious pre-Ice Age civilizations, of great cities and the great Euesshae (it was like a city-state, but bigger!), Martin is dedicated to pushing humanity towards that again. He is zealously attached to this goal, though he's selfless in pursuing it and doesn't care much about his own status in the world. He can be stubborn, but is charismatic and knows how to push his desires. He likes pre-Ice Age books and trinkets, and collects them whenever he can find them. He's a little trained in self-defense, but would prefer to settle things diplomatically.
History: The heir to the throne of the nearby city-state of Bisonskull, Martin was raised on stories of the land before the Ice. Bisonskull, greater in population but technologically weaker than Crowhead, is equally popular a target among raiders, especially during Martin's late grandfather's rule, which caused him – and his son, Martin's father, in return – to become steadfastly traditionalist and protective of the city. The current attitude of the city-state is hostile to outsiders. Martin's great-grandfather (who would die after his son), however, was steadfastly against this, having lived in the pre-Ice Age time and knowing that working with others would lead to progress. So he took control of Martin's education, instilling within the child dreams of an enlightened time, until he died when Martin was 15. These dreams would live on, along with a plan, from the limited information spread to Bisonskull from surrounding city-states. At age 22 Martin decided the time was ripe, and set off (in secret, leaving a note for his father) towards the nearby city-state of Crowhead, to offer himself to Queen Keria Upel as a suitor for the heiress of Crowhead.
Other: At the start of the RP he's close enough to Crowhead to come into contact with the Clan of the Roaring Winds.

This assumes the heir to Crowhead is female (hence “heiress”). Is this okay to assume?
How populated is Crowhead? And about how populated is the surrounding area? How far is it from Crowhead and the nearest other city-state?

(To be realistic, it is said that 1000+ humans are preferable in order to not die out from inbreeding.)

EDIT: Sorry for so many questions, but in population, is Crowhead bigger or smaller than most city-states?
I think I might want to join, but first I'd like to know, what's the status on the US government? Are they completely dead? Or are they still influential, just less so? If the US dissolved, are there US states which survived as independent countries? Also what happened with Mexico?

Sorry, I'm just curious and want to use some background info with my character.

Unless you joined the old guild.

I actually joined the old guild just a month before it went down.
