Current Just because you can have 36 attacks per turn that threaten a crit on a roll of 14+ doesn't mean it's worth doing.

Isn't it weird how you can start a private conversation with yourself?

Martel spun on his heels and made a very proper and polite bow. "Ah, wonderful! You must be the Emperor then. Though you have perhaps heard of me allow me to still provide you with proper introductions. I am Lord Martel Corbanet, commander of the Raven Company mercenaries." He straightened up and smiled politely. "Now, I would hate to sully this fine establishment with my presence any further so I hereby inquire from you if my men and I could provide protection to the outlying villages - for a fee of course."
@Carlsberg

"Of course I have my own selfish agenda! That's just not because I am a vampire. Can you claim that humans in general do not have their own selfish agendas? My agenda has nothing to do with me being a decent person." Martel rolled his eyes and again shook his head. "Can't I help people while at the same time furthering my own selfish goals? What do you think, m'lady?"
@Carlsberg

"Oh I am not worried that much about you hurting me. I'd just prefer not to cause a ruckus before a have a chance to speak with the emperor, that's all." Martel smiled faintly and shook his head. "Well, my offer still stands if you ever change your mind. Also I thank you for your kindness." He paused for a moment and rolled his eyes. "Different what you expected, m'lady? Did you perhaps think me an inhumane monster who causes milk to curdle, women to misscarry and cattle to die by the power of my presence alone? Or perhaps you thought me a raving lunatic whom revels in bloodshed? Admittedly a part of me is like that, but I'd rather keep it well in check. It's not good for the publicity of the Raven Company if my bloodlust would get the better of me, now would it?" The tall man spread his arms slightly and smiled.
@Carlsberg

Surprisingly Martel took a cautious step backwards while still keeping his hands away from his weapons. "I can assure you it is quite alright. No harm done." He was not afraid of the woman, merely cautious. "Now, just to make sure we are on the same proverbial page here... Was that some kind of divine energy I just felt?" The tall man glanced over his shoulder and gave his men a quick hand sign informing them that there was no cause for alarm. "Now, m'lady. Though I doubt mercenary life would quite suit you I am still going to make you an offer. Now, worry not. I am a man who can take a no for an answer." The little smile was back. "You do not have to make a decision immediately of course. Let's just say if you ever need a place to rest or a few coins the Raven Company would welcome you with open arms." Martel made a little bow. "Maybe you could spy our doings for your order and give them less a reason to be hounding us?"
Ooopsie, may have gone on a bit of a motive rant there ^^;; Sorry 'bout that ^^;;
@Carlsberg

"Is that so..?" Though Martel forced a little smile to his lips his tone had gone a tad bit colder - though still not to an impolite degree. "Now what if I outright told you that we'd keep the peace even if the Empreror says no? If the outlying towns and villages suffer the entire land suffers. You can believe whatever you wish of my kind, but know this. I may be a monster, I may be a man with a small army behind me, I may be many other horrible things... Just remember this 'Judgement'. Though I am what I am these lands are still dear to me. The people - be they peasant or nobility - deserve to be protected. Now, I am not saying that the standing army is not doing their work properly, but they can not be everywhere at once." The tall man shook his head and shrugged his shoulders. "Your dear order doesn't see the nobleman from the monster. Hell, I keep to my word, avoid unnecessary casualties when it is possible and even offer more manageable pay contracts to those in need of aid."
"We keep the peace. Some of the smaller villages hired us to patrol the roads and keep their trade caravans safe. Now, I am here personally just to ask the good Emperor's permission for such an act." The tall man shrugged his shoulders. "If the Emperor says no then we'll just leave the villages undefended. After all it is not honorable to go against the orders of a sovereign."
"I do not quite understand why your order seems to have something against me - not just my kind in general - let me ask you this. Have I been such a thorn in their side that I'd earn their ire? Have I preyed on the innocent for my own amusement? No, I do not prey on the innocent. Not for amusement or need." Martel shook his head and rolled his eyes. "To ask me not to consume blood is like asking me to succumb in to madness. Still..." The tall man grinned, baring his fangs and shook the offered hand. "I will admit it is actually relieving to meet someone of your order that does not immediately wish to see me slain, m'lady Judgement."
There was a short silence as the vampire tried to comprehend if the djinn was pulling his leg. He scratched the back of his head and for just a moment his haughty, cold mask broke as he let out a little laugh - a sincerely amused one. "Take no offense, m'lady, but I was not aware your kind had any blood in your veins." Martel shook his head apologetically and shook his head. "Just shows how much I know now does it not?" He wasn't going to admit out loud that Mekkah was the second genie he had ever seen.
Martel nodded to the djinn and smiled faintly "An emperor coming to a place like this? Hmh, guess the ale is that good then." He rolled his eyes at her other question, but still smiled. "As I said earlier I tend not hide what I am. I have heard my vampirism is easy to sense, even by the average peasant." He lifted his hands slightly "Now, there is nothing to worry. I am not here to cause trouble. I give you my word."
