Skeptical, are you? Simple scraps of cardboard, you're thinking. Well, I tell you the future can be known! My predictions never fail! And I predict for you a most interesting future, indeed. Look, look at this. It is Death. No, don't give me that look. It's not what you're thinking. You're not going to die, probably. Possibly. I give it fifty fifty odds. No, this is just an ending, but where there is an ending is a new beginning and I tell you truly something is beginning. Something big. Look here, it is The Tower. What does it mean? Well, anyone else would tell you calamity; a warning; chaos in your future. Well those people are hacks. You hear me? Hacks! I will tell you what the future truly holds, and it is this: the time has come for the Game to begin anew. You're giving me that look again. It'll make sense soon, I promise. In the mean time, I suggest investing in a good bulletproof vest.

That'll be twenty dollars.

let the game begin

Fateful Spread: basically Highlander with a tarot theme. Welcome, ladies and gents and nonbinnies, to another certified Marshmellow RP (c). Today's theme is tarot cards.

It's been a long time since the Fortuna last played their Game. Theirs is a Game not for fun or mere material wealth, but for the very fate of the universe itself. Having chosen the site of their Game, the diverse Hundreds City, the spirits of the tarot have dispersed to begin the preliminary stages of the Game. The rules are simple:

1. In order to participate, a Fortuna must be allied with one and only one human.

2. To ally with a human, a Fortuna must offer it a boon in the form of a magical card.

3. A Fortuna is not required to inform an Ally of any particular details of the Game, however neither is she barred from doing so.

4. If an Ally loses its card, the allied Fortuna has lost the Game.

5. A Fortuna that has lost the Game may continue to participate in an advisory fashion.

6. The last Fortuna with an Ally is the victor.

7. The victor will reign over the world as the major tarot influence until the next Game.

With their eyes on the ultimate prize of unmatched influence over the world of humans, the Fortuna now scatter to seek out suitable Allies. The fate of the world hangs in the balance as twenty-two ethereal beings search for their champions...

do you want to play the game

if you've ever wondered what darius looks like in a suit--and i know you haven't--well now you know
"Alright then." Darius broke the silence that had fallen over the party after his suggestion. Having heard only one assent, he decided that was good enough for now.

"All those that want to meet, I'll be in the cafeteria." It was a large space, it was less destroyed than the rest of the academy, and it was far from the walls. It would be a good spot to plan their next move, and keeping all of this away from the dorms seemed like a good idea. "We'll start in an hour. If you have things to do before then, or just need to get your thoughts in order, you've got time."

With that, Darius buckled his sword into its sheath--little more than a leather strap really, given the irregular shape of the blade--and started in the direction of the cafeteria. Oh, if only there hadn't been a massive attack on the school mere hours ago, he could have set up a powerpoint for the occasion; any presentation is improved with a good pie chart. Unfortunately, that seemed to be out of the question right now, given the unreliability of the power around here and the lack of a projector. Maybe next time.

He left the courtyard to the few students that remained.

I think Eika should call for an intervention so everyone can talk about their feelings.

"Perhaps you should join us in the dorms, it'd definitely be safer than hanging out inside the school buildings, though I won't blame you if you'd rather be alone."

Darius had taken to leaning on his sword in the aftermath of the not-battle. Though certainly there would be a debriefing later, he hadn't expected the emotionless invitation. Of course he'd considered taking to the dorms at some point, though whether he would or not was still up in the air. She didn't need to invite him... wait. What if she was flirting with him? That was even almost a smile right there! Yes, the hallway would make for adequate sleeping arrangements for tonight.

Lost in thought as he was, Darius found himself a bit taken aback by the sudden appearance of Hunter pointing accusingly at him. For some people, this might be cause for anger and argument. Others might tend to get away from the situation as quickly as possible, or to shut down in the face of social danger. Darius was the last; it was his habit to passively ride out the storm. He watched Hunter through bored-looking eyes as the dressing-down continued.

Eventually the sniper was finished, and after another short speech he'd turned and left the courtyard.

An awkward silence prevailed in the courtyard for a moment, before Jace made his own closing remarks and left. Darius turned his eyes back to what was left of the students gathered in the courtyard and He cocked his head. "Williams and Stone seem a bit stressed at the moment, and it seems Eindz is taking care of Belladonna right now," he said. "Is everyone else available for a team meeting? It would be in our best interests to work out what we all know about what is going on right now." There were probably a lot of bad assumptions flying around right now. At the very least he needed to disseminate his own observations of the situation; and if the others had their own observations, he could add those pieces to the puzzle. "Although--it would probably be best to have such a meeting somewhere indoors, or at least away from the gate."
