Bio

Hi. I'm Matt. You could say I'm a Case of Identity...

1. The Important Stuff: Faith and salvation

I am a Christian. I believe the KJV Bible and that God is real, Jesus died for me, Jesus rose again and offered salvation to the world. Heaven is real, Hell is hot and the only escape is Christ. I accepted salvation the only way you can: by admitting I was a sinner (and I still am), believing that Jesus died for me and rose again, and calling on Him to save me. Anyone can do it anytime and be granted eternal life.

"Matt, why are you saying all of this?" you ask.

Because last time I was here, I did a crap job of establishing that and just tried to 'fit in.' I'm going to add a little more of this to my characters and to my signature, because it's the right thing to do and because there's freedom on these kinds of sites. Not to an extent that interrupts/derails the story, though. Your game, your rules.

2. The Actual Bio:

Hi guys. I'm Matthias Emmanuel Angel, I'm 24, and this is where I spend time when I'm not doing other things (church, homework, studying, video games).

///
What I like:
-Landscape Management (my major)
-Guitar (over a decade of experience and not much to show for it)
-PC Games (gave up on Xbox, no regrets)
-RPGs (I play them too often though)
-Water instead of soda (oooo look at how healthy I am)
-Google SketchUp (awesome 3D models, free download)
-The number 23 (it's the best number)
///
What I don't like:
-Profanity (especially when it's just filler in comedy)
-Lewd content and porn (and anyone bragging about it)
-Gory movies (how are they going to get butchered this time?)
-Jerks (you aren't a jerk, are you?)
-Insects (kill them all)
-Dying in video games (and forgetting to save)
///

I realize, of course, that this site doesn't have limits on profanity of lewd content. No worries. I'll work around it, and won't join up with RPs rated 18+. If you feel like it will be a problem, let me know BEFORE the RP starts.

3. Other Internet Presence:

You can find me in a couple other places.

Armor Games: MattEmAngel
Steam: club_blizzy
...and Comments here, of course.

See you in another world.
-Matt

So it's a Fallout kind of style with "Factions" but with more plant life?
Well you should post it so we can contribute and/or critique it.
This is based on a game that has been dead for a while now.

Let's get this out of the way first. It's a "hunger games" style game. If you're not interested in that type of game, I'm letting you know in advance.

*ahem* It's a slightly reworked "hunger games" situation with more isolation and malicious intentions. Basically, (number of players) have been essentially kidnapped and relocated to who knows where. Each of them is given a cell phone, an unmarked credit card (more on that below) and an explosive collar that can be detonated at any time (referencing "Battle Royale" and "Ratchet: Deadlocked") OR has a nano-virus injected into them that can be activated remotely. It doesn't instantly kill a person. It slows their heart until they die. The GM is a sinister overlord who communicates to everyone as a whole, but can also communicate to people individually.

Everyone is sent a text message (PM from the GM) with the name and face of another person (player). They are told that, to be freed, they must kill that person. *insert drama from innocent people not wanting to become killers* What they don't realize, though, is that after that person is dead, the GM will send them another person's face and they will have to kill again until one winner remains. This keeps it fun because you literally do not know who is out to kill you specifically, and it removes the pressure for you to kill every single person until you are the last alive (initially).

The GM posts from time to time to insert backstory. They also might send personal texts to the players with tips and advice, just to "spice things up," and can trigger the nano-virus in small doses to individual players to "encourage" them to take action.

3 Rules:
-Posts should be at least two paragraphs long. Proper spelling and grammar are a given.
-No lewd content or crude language. You won't be "hooking up" with other players, although you can try to form alliances (if you think it's worth the risk).
-No supernatural abilities or elements. You will need food, water and rest. I have a solution for those needs, though.

Questions, comments and concerns? Leave 'em here.
I'd say it's a good start, although personally I'd prefer no supernatural elements at all.

Out-of-nowhere suggestion: When I first joined this site years ago (with a different name and everything), the first RP I tried to join was called "Black Friday." Synopsis: In a modern-day America, in an era when terrorist attacks and terrorism are at an all-time low, peace has become a more prevailing theme. Crime rates are also very low. One day, on Black Friday, a single mall in (American city) is overrun by armed militia/terrorists/gang-type men in an organized hostage situation on a massive scale. The entire thing has been planned and calculated by whoever is behind it (the Weavers, perhaps?).

You have two options: RP as a "bad guy" working for whoever with a promised payoff and plenty of hostility along the way, or RP as a SWAT soldier, working together to infiltrate and neutralize the biggest and most delicate operation in years. Bad guys get lots and lots of SMGs, rifles, explosives and whatever else (bomb backpacks, camera access, etc). Good guys get riot shields, sniper rifles, breaching charges, lasers and headsets. Or combinations of each.

I was rejected (for not being realistic enough. I requested a sniper rifle that was not native to that area's police force), but it looked like fun, and it's long dead now. Feel free to tinker away at it.
I'm interested, but I'd like a story of some kind or at least a plot. "Wander around the world and survive" isn't all that exciting. I would hope our characters would interact and whatnot.

I'd also like to know the limits at which our characters start off. I'm hoping somewhere between "assault rifles and health stimulants" and "a stick."

If the scientist is going to die, it should be soon. A sniper, a guard blocks our path, whatever. If you think we should bring her with us, okay, I can work with that, but I have a feeling that she's going to die before the end. I'll leave it up to you.

Matt followed as fast as possible, holding the scientist by the hand and half-leading, half-forcing her through the exit. They were in a wide alley, facing another tall building. The alley dead ended to the left and extended far out towards what looked like a street. He had no idea where they were, but it was definitely a small city. Now what? He scowled in frustration when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw an escape.

A shuttle bus station. They cycled every 20 minutes or so. If they could make it to a bus, they would be safe. He crouched down, checking the Exit door for a camera. He sighed. A heavy white camera was swiveling back and forth. He waited until it was facing the other way, then whispered "Let's head for the bus stop. If we can make it on one..." he paused as the camera swiveled again. "...we can get out of here. We can blend into a crowd of other innocent people. They wouldn't......dare shoot us. Would they?" he asked the scientist.

The trio headed swiftly forward. Another turn brought them to an EXIT staircase. Matt watched uneasily as the cameras in the hallways swiveled, following their movements. Why hadn't they been caught yet? Something was very wrong. Whoever was in charge was either having trouble communicating with the guards or was planning something, and he doubted it was the first. A trap of some kind, maybe? Fortunately for him, it didn't matter. This was the only way forward.

They reached the exit door without incident. Matt forced it open with his shoulder, letting the two women pass, before throwing one final glance behind him and closing the door. They weren't on the ground floor, apparently, as the scientists was leading them past several floors. She stopped on a flat labeled "1A" and nodded at the door. Matt slid up beside it and looked through the thin pane of glass. One long corridor.

"Step through that door and make a right. At the end of the hallway is an emergency exit. An alarm will sound when you open the door, though, so you have to be fast," the woman explained quietly. Matt nodded and looked at Freya. "You have the gun. Do you want to go first?"

Matt scowled briefly. "It's in my left hand," he called back. "I'm right handed, so...yeah..." his voice trailed off. He was never very good at comebacks. He snapped his wrist, sending the blade and handle in a sharp curve and back into the closed position. Why wasn't anyone calling? No work for almost two weeks? Surely there had to be some illegal activity going on somewhere in this city. It wasn't exactly a small place.

He dropped the knife on his desk, pushed away from it in his wheeled desk chair and stood up, stretching briefly. He hadn't eaten since 8 AM and it was the early afternoon. Regg was probably making lunch for one, so he was going to have to handle it himself. Lately Matt had been into meat and cheese subs with vegetable toppings. It was the closest he wanted to get to a salad. He needed to stay in good shape anyway. Fortunately, he had two and a half of them left, still in the paper bag. Matt glanced around his room, looking for some kind of excuse to stay, then left, leaving the door half an inch open.

Regg was looking through the shelves, but Matt could tell at a glance that his roommate was somewhere else, thinking hard about who knows what. He gave up figuring out what was going on in his head long ago. After all, Regg was a genius of sorts. Maybe he was unraveling the history of the universe. Quantum physics for lunch. Matt through briefly about making a comment, but decided against it. Instead, he slid past Regg as smoothly as possible, opened the fridge, removed half a sub and a bottle of water and closed it with his left leg. He looked glumly at the gun rack, fully stocked and untouched. The phone was sitting silently on the table. Grumbling, Matt made his way back towards his room, opening and closing the door with his foot.
