"Haha, how is a helmet speed and mobility? I'm leaving my head free so I can see and move easier. That reminds me... I need to get this flashlight on me hands free..." Matt tapes the flashlight onto the side of his neck, the only place he could think to put it that wouldn't be awkward or pointing the wrong direction often. "Oh, you're leaving? Good luck!" Matt heads out as well, taking a lanyard of keys from a media center specialist before leaving. It would have been embarrassing to be locked out because he forgot to bring keys.

Matt heads out by the doors near SGA, switching on his flashlight, weapon in hand. Check left, check right. Clear. Now for this first hallway... Matt turns right and heads down the hall to the front lobby uneventfully. The two zombies he and Irene had killed were right where they had been left. Matt hears the zombies before he sees them. Two in the lobby, one about six feet behind the other. Matt steps forward and lunges with his spear, stabbing the zombie in the head and killing it instantly. The blades stick as the zombie falls backward, but pull free when the body hits the floor. However, this left Matt momentarily exposed to the second zombie.

The zombie lunges onto matt, stepping on top of Matt's spear in the process. Matt leans to the side just in time, saving his neck from a swift and fatal bite. Instead, the zombie's teeth scrabble uselessly on the hardcover shoulder armor. Thinking quickly, Matt grabs a knife from his side pocket and stabs it upward through the zombie's chin. He adds the force of his second hand to force the blade up and into the brain. Matt pulls the knife free and scrambles to his feet, ready for another zombie.

But he was alone, for now. He wipes the blade clean on the back of the corpse and sheathes it before picking his spear up. After another moment to collect himself, he ventures on toward the health room.

"I'm pretty sure we did yeah." Matt grins and tightens the strap of his backpack.

"I'll go look for other students that are fighting, I know Travis and Adam are out there somewhere. But before I go, I want more protection just in case..." Matt glances around at what he could use. I can't use a shield if I'm using my makeshift halberd, so I need armor, arm protection, gauntlets maybe... But the media center won't have any of that... unless... Matt takes a pair of heavy-duty scissors, a roll of tape, and grabs the hoodie out of his backpack and retreats into the corner of the library. He rips the spines off of hard cover books and cuts them into thinner strips about a third of their original size, then tapes them in horizontal rows across the back and then front of his hoodie. He does the same with the sleeves and sides, trimming and bending the covers to make them fit. Next, he moves on to his cargo pants, layering and taping the covers on to form a sort of scale armor, taking extra care to allow for full mobility. The hood of the hoodie he tucks around his neck to make room for a piece of armor that extended to cover the back of his neck.

After half and hour of careful tearing, cutting, trimming, and taping, Matt is satisfied with his makeshift suit of armor. The extra plating is heavy, but not too much heavier, since the book covers were made of paper after all. The hoodie was red with black plates, and although it would be a hassle to take off later, the added protection would probably end up saving his life.

"This is so ****ing cool haha. Alright I'm going to head toward the Health room and grab medical supplies on the way to where I last heard from Travis and Adam."
Matt empties out his backpack except for his waterbottle and puts it on, tightening the straps are far as possible. He tucks a knife into each of his side pockets jump around for a bit to check for any loose or swinging parts. "Looks like it all checks out. He says to Irene and Kate, showing off the armor.

Matt gets whiplash from being dragged around all over the place and promptly passes out. Or at least, that's what he considered doing. Decidedly conscious for the time being, Matt remembers to tell Irene to not to tell lest she spread some unfortunate information that may result in the deaths of everyone. "Psst, Irene, how about you don't make the only food repository common knowledge, and instead have them focus on sealing the breach?"
[Matt]

"Yeah sure, let's take a bit of everything. Actually... here give me those supplies, I have an idea. " Matt grabs a roll of tape, scissors, a few meter sticks, and gets to work crafting a weapon. He holds two meter sticks together and spirals tape around them, securing them together. Before he reaches the end he sets the meat cleaver on top of the two sticks, setting the blade between the meter sticks. He then finishes taping the sticks together, wrapping over the cleaver but leaving the blade free to extend past to the other side. FInally, he tapes two long knives to the sides of the sticks, securing them as tightly as possible. When he was done, he has a tape wrapped 3.5 foot long weapon with 2 long knives extending forward at the end and a long edge of the cleaver extending down between them, forming a short shafted halberd of sorts.

"Haha check this out!" Not too bad for school supplies huh? What are you up to?" Matt swings the new weapon experimentally a few times, smiling at the deadly new weight and heft.
[Matt]

He hears startled yelps as the door he swung open hits the wall with a thud. "Hello, I'm a student and alive, I mean you no harm, relax, we're just here to check in on everyone, make sure you're alright, maybe collect some things." Matt calms the people down with a reassuring smile and a meat cleaver as Irene enters. "Go ahead and grab the stuff, I'll keep an eye on them.
[Matt]

"Gahh alright." Matt snatches his phone back, now more protective of it than ever. "If we're getting duct tape, I'm bringing more knives to attach stuff to. Matt grabs two more knives and shoves them into his cargo pants, glad for the extra pockets. The carrying capacity was the best. "Alright, let's go now. Remember to lock the door when we leave so we can return to safety. Cleaver and flashlight in hand, Matt leaves the cafeteria first and crosses the large open room, aware of the office entrance on the far wall.
[Matt]
"I guess that makes sense. Hmm the only place we'd get real powertools is at the shop all the way by drama. There'd also be actual wood we can bar the breach with. The only problem is getting there and back in one piece, and stopping anything else from getting through the breach in the process. Meh, I guess this knife will suffice for me. I'll call Travis, see if he can get his hands on power tools and supplies to block the breach."

Matt pats his pocket before remembering Irene has his phone. "Phone plox?

Since it was rather dark in the kitchen, Matt heads into the office on the left side of the room. After fumbling through a few drawers, he finds a small flashlight and flicks it on and off a few times experimentally. Sweet! He sets down the pole and goes through the rest of the kitchen, searching for weapons, water, and then food in that order. Matt finds a heavy, solid meat cleaver to use as his main weapon. He also pockets two straight knives as backups. We really should have brought a bag... Matt collects a balanced meal of water, bread, and the snacks and sits down against the wall to take a nice break and eat. There's quite a bit of food and water here, this could tide us over for a while... But not the entire school, no way.

"Irene, we need to realistically think about how long this will last us, and how many people we'll allow access to it. It'll be gone in a day if we try to feed everyone..."
[Matt]

"Okay. I'm with a small group of about 10-15 in the media center, but a few of us just left to scavenge the cafeteria. Hopefully we can obtain food, water, and weapons there. Cya." Matt hangs up and turns the iPhone flashlight on before handing it to Irene. Good to hear that Travis and was that Adam? are still alive, if on the other side of the school. Matt goes into the cafeteria first, since Irene would have trouble fighting while also holding the flashlight.

After a cursory glance around the kitchen, they find nothing, living or dead. Unsurprising, since the staff should have locked up and gone home already.
