Lyn's Hunt
She was certain that she was a goner. She could feel the hot breath of the beast on her arm, puffing hard on her and she knew what her panic would lead to. She could feel the heat of the fire bubbling up in her hand and if something didn't happen soon, things might be over quickly for her. She'd never been in a position where she didn't have people she knew and trusted at her back. Surely these others were perfectly fine fighters. But they didn't know her and she didn't know them. And that could be dangerous.
But then she was rescued. The beast was letting go of her and the pain in her arm only hurt more now. She would have thought without the teeth through muscle and flesh that it would be better. But in those first few seconds the pain was fresh and hot and she sucked in her breath to keep from drawing more attention back onto herself. Flopping back onto her rump, she held it for a moment before panting and breathing hard to calm herself. She didn't need to light this place up. Then her efforts would have been for nothing.
Her eyes closed as she tried to stand without using her injured arm to lever herself up, but that was harder than she thought it would be. Hissing in pain she stopped, sat again and looked to her rescuer. She missed his look, but she still glanced around quickly to make sure there was nothing coming at them. When it seemed that it was fine, or as fine as it could be, she looked back to Sinys. She searched the ground for her blade, finding it she pushed back into its home. Gritting her teeth again, she stood at last, pushing down the pain in her arm and took a few strides forward, pulling her blade or again with her uninjured, but weaker arm. She just hoped the beast would keep its bleeding side towards her so she could see it as she lunged at what she assumed was it's skull, attacking it from behind as her rescuer took it from the front.
