Lyn's Hunt

She was certain that she was a goner. She could feel the hot breath of the beast on her arm, puffing hard on her and she knew what her panic would lead to. She could feel the heat of the fire bubbling up in her hand and if something didn't happen soon, things might be over quickly for her. She'd never been in a position where she didn't have people she knew and trusted at her back. Surely these others were perfectly fine fighters. But they didn't know her and she didn't know them. And that could be dangerous.

But then she was rescued. The beast was letting go of her and the pain in her arm only hurt more now. She would have thought without the teeth through muscle and flesh that it would be better. But in those first few seconds the pain was fresh and hot and she sucked in her breath to keep from drawing more attention back onto herself. Flopping back onto her rump, she held it for a moment before panting and breathing hard to calm herself. She didn't need to light this place up. Then her efforts would have been for nothing.

Her eyes closed as she tried to stand without using her injured arm to lever herself up, but that was harder than she thought it would be. Hissing in pain she stopped, sat again and looked to her rescuer. She missed his look, but she still glanced around quickly to make sure there was nothing coming at them. When it seemed that it was fine, or as fine as it could be, she looked back to Sinys. She searched the ground for her blade, finding it she pushed back into its home. Gritting her teeth again, she stood at last, pushing down the pain in her arm and took a few strides forward, pulling her blade or again with her uninjured, but weaker arm. She just hoped the beast would keep its bleeding side towards her so she could see it as she lunged at what she assumed was it's skull, attacking it from behind as her rescuer took it from the front.
@EthTenshi

Figured you would ;p Yeah, it's loads of time chasing a toddler about with a two month old. I've of course added the task of making my mother a quilt for her birthday so yeah ha!

*hugs May* No hurries hun.

*hugs* Thanks. Just figured I'd at least let you all know. :) If need be you can go ahead without her, just leave her to her bleeding haha But I should hopefully have something up tomorrowish provided that I don't have to go to the store again.

Ugh, promise I'm working on a reply. There's just so much irl to do. About halfway there.
@EthTenshi

Best laid plans of mice.

@Demonic Angel

I'll just have Helena sit back and watch then? :P Seriously though, been having a rough week and got a mommy group out of the house tomorrow so I'll be busy for about six hours to come home and do all my house work. Le sigh.
@May

Hey, if you manage to post first please go and save Keri. I should have a post up by tonight, maybe early morning, but either say Sinys should have the Cosh under control. Since it really can't go invisible to him.

Lol okay, but I'm not likely to get anything up until tomorrow at the earliest.
Poor May. Shoot I haven't really started on my post.

She brought it upon herself. She should have had a plan before charging in to the fray.

It took a long moment for her to feel the teeth in her arm. She had been elated that she'd managed to have found the cosh in the first place. She had hoped that she would, she thought that she could, but it was still a surprise that she had actually managed to do it. Even if she'd missed where she thought she might, she had sunk the knife into flesh.

So when the jaws closed around her arm, and she realized it, she yelped loudly. Her first reaction was to pull her arm back, but as she did she felt her flesh starting to tear. Hot blood started to run down her arm and she felt a hint of panic start to rise up in her chest. This was not going well at all. She had lost the tight grip she'd had on the handle of the knife when she'd finally felt the pain, so now she took it back, even as the cosh’s jaws clamped down more. Teeth went into muscle more as the seconds ticked by. If she didn't do something soon, she likely wouldn't be able to do anything.

The cosh was starting to push her back, push her over to the ground, but she wouldn't be pushed down so easily. She shoved back as best she could, but the forest floor was not the best for getting a grip with her boots and she struggled to find purchase for a moment, but that seemed to be all the beast needed and Helena felt herself beginning to lose her footing as the cosh began to clamp down more and shake her head. Through gritted teeth and another yelp of pain she twisted the blade that she had finally gotten a better grip on, hoping and praying that that would be enough to free her arm.
