There will always be a song out there that fits how one can feel, though unfortunately it seems life favors sad songs the most.

It's good to get back in the swing of things after a couple weeks away. And hopefully, this time, I plan to stay!
Bio
I'm just your average, everyday roleplayer who mainly resides in Terraria's community forums.
Lots of stuff has happened in my life the last few months that I needed to dedicate my time to until I could reach a stable, well, time again. I'm so sorry if I worried anyone here, I made a lot of friends that I feel I abandoned with no explanation as to why. But what matters is, I think I've reached enough stability to RP again!
Anyway, generally speaking, I try to be a good person. I do my best to improve, I try to listen to criticism with an open ear, and I don't like to argue. There's so much potential here... It's awesome really. I just hope I can contribute something worthwhile.
Ivy had been distracting herself with her psammokinesis before the ship encountered problems. She had seen Earth in the distance, wide-eyed in awe at how it appeared. It was much better than she could have imagined, but it lacked the design that a lot of homeworld colonies had. From what she could gather before leaving, along with discussing it with the other gems here, this used to be a colony, right? It made her question what went wrong, how a diamond could have been shattered here. And the one gem who did it, a 'Rose Quartz', were they still around? Ivy laughed a little to herself, shaking her head at such a question. Of course she wasn't, the Diamonds must have felt that this place wasn't worthy to be a gem colony, right? Or maybe that it was too much hassle.
Regardless of why this planet was still around, and despite the appearance of it, Ivy shrugged at the possibilities, regenerating sand from her gem to create several small spheres before having them spin in a circle above her hand until it hit her. The entire reason they were there was because of the cluster, so obviously that was the answer as to why Earth existed still.
It was then that the group entered the atmosphere and the ship began to malfunction in some manner, causing Ivory to instinctively generate enough sand to envelop her feet so that she stayed in place. Problems already? But they hadn't even touched down yet! She turned to their leader, who immediately shouted "E-everybody remember your training! Duck and cover!" before generating a shield, which was then followed by the moonstone assisting them. How smart! She wasn't sure if that'd be helpful, but it didn't seem like they had any other options at the moment. She shifted over to them, maintaining her supports on her feet when she arrived. If only there were more sand on the ship, she could have created something like a sand barrier or bubble to protect everyone in. But it seemed she'd have to rely on those designated to protect them for that.
Not to say Ivory couldn't handle herself, she was a gem designed for traversing unknown planets and territory, but it was reassuring to know they'd be accompanied by gems made for protection. And if they crashed down and were alright, Ivy vowed she'd find the way to the Cluster...

Powers:
Psammokinesis: Psammokinesis, as shown in the picture, is the ability to control sand and is a crucial part of Ivory’s being. Further explained below. - Alone, she can generate enough sand from her gemstone to create a weapon of her choice, though this is more often than not a single crescent sword. Or, if she chooses, the sand is used to create tools that she can use to fix various Homeworld tech, being more effective in this manner than with regular tools that Homeworld has created.
- Often, she can also use the sand as a means of transportation, enveloping her feet with the sand and simply directing it around instead of having to walk. Though, she doesn't really remember this.
-When in the presence of sandy areas, such as a beach or desert, things can get hectic. She has a decent control over sand, similar to Lapis, but not as strong as Lapis as she cannot drastically shift around the sand such as Lapis did with her water, along with creating clones and being relatively unstressed. More often than not, she’ll instead create temporary cover from attacks with the sand in these locations, or simply use them as a faster means of transportation by carrying her around. Or, she would simply create sand weapons or tools that are more intricate for herself to use. All of these creations, however, are just temporary solutions, as they will eventually collapse back down and resettle.
Items: More often than not, Ivory will attempt to create a surprisingly sturdy sword made of sand, however, she can change the weapon or tool so long as it isn’t extremely complex or long, as she requires more sand the more she wishes to add. So, she can create things like compact gauntlets, or substitute her sword for daggers, maybe a hammer or screwdriver, but since she isn’t used to such a concept nor has she tried, it’s out of the question.
Backstory: Ivory’s are created as one of homeworld’s pathfinders, meant to scout potential gem-worthy planets and see if the planet is a suitable gem colony location, along with being navigators in space and simple engineers. This makes them adept at exploring worlds and explaining various aspects that a planet can have, and more importantly, how or if it can be important to homeworld. This particular Ivory was chosen to help assist the group by finding a suitable location to land safely to check on the cluster, and if trouble were to occur to fix it. And while she has little to no real combat experience, she is more than eager to try and prove herself like Ivory’s before her.
Writing example:
Today was the day… Oh boy, today was the day. A sole Ivory gem had begun the long walk, or at least she felt it that way, from her current station towards the ship that would be departing for Earth soon. And, she was going to be on it! It was like a dream come true for her. Exploring new worlds was what an Ivory was made for, and while this one, or at least in the reports she read, wasn't particularly new, it was in terms of recent knowledge and she would get to see it firsthand. It was going to be an adventure, at least if the gems in charge would let her have one that is. In fact, she wasn't really sure who would be involved in this mission to check on the cluster, and all she knew was that they'd be useful in locating it, herself included. And, while that was somewhat scary, it was that tense feeling, that fear of failure, that made this entire situation memorable for her.
Lost in thoughts, Ivory had not been paying attention when she ran into one of the doors on her station, causing her to jolt backward from surprise, only to facepalm moments afterward at her own lack of awareness. "Shake it off Ivy... You got this, you'll be fine." She told herself, taking a couple moments to regain her composure as she opened the door, revealing an elevator esque design that would take her to the docking bay. As the door closed behind her, Ivy stared off into the beautiful abyss that was gem space, taking notes on the station design that she had seen a thousand times in her head. She definitely wanted to compare whatever Earth had with what Homeworld had, that was for sure.
And, in these moments, it let her look at her notes one last time of Earth. There wasn't much, really. This station had a lot of new gems on it, and those that had existed in Era 1 never really talked about Earth, or dared to for that matter. And those that did didn't have much to say except that it was an awful place, with awful things and awful actions... The only thing they ever agreed on, she learned, was that one of the Diamonds, one that existed before she existed, was shattered there on her own colony. Ivory was certain that, if maybe they had sent an Ivory to investigate the planet and solve issues, this wouldn't have happened. But, she supposed that was why she was being sent now, right? To keep the spirits up and stay positive, to remind them that the diamonds are counting on them, and to get some firsthand experience out on a foreign planet. Who knows, Ivory thought, maybe she'd get to explore an extremely new planet if she did well here! Ah, the thought just made her happy with anticipation to get praise. And if things went south, she was basically made to fix problems anyway so they'd be fine.
It didn't take her long to be snapped back into reality when the door opened in front of her, making a loud ding sound as it did so. Taking several deep breaths before exiting the elevator, she strode off to her destination, looking up at the gem who had been guarding the ship... It was most likely an amethyst or something, she didn't really know. Creating a diamond with her arms, as per custom, the seriousness faded from her face as she gave a confident smile at them instead.
"Ivory, reporting for duty. This... this is the right ship, isn't it?"
Anything extra you'd like to add: The diamond she was made to serve was White Diamond.

Through the intros, Matthias had sat there, observing his new comrades with skepticism and worry. The skepticism came from how odd the group seemed to be at first sight, making him wonder if the phenomenon they were investigating was tied to The Other. Though, a strange beam of light could be anything at this point, but if it were connected to The Other, then he supposed that was why he was here. Either that, or it was due to his medical training, which was a reason to worry in his eyes. He supposed they did need medics on the field, but for such an important mission, shouldn't one with a bit more military training have come on this unusual mission? There were so many questions he felt could be answered, but he supposed that he'd find out in time. They chose him for a reason, and even if he wasn't confident in their reasonings, he knew he'd have to stick with it.
Soon, he had clasped his hands in front of him, where he laid his right fingers over his left, leaving his thumbs connected to create some sort of oval. It was a way he had been shown to calm down and assess the situation, taking short and slow breaths with his eyes closed, though his helmet blocked that view. He didn't want to take it off anyway, wanting to grow accustomed to having it on 24/7. After it seemed that the conversation was waiting for another participant, he decided he would have to speak.
"I could be here for a majority of reasons, but if I had to assume which ones, it would most likely be that I am both your medic and your seer. And it isn't the wild that's the problem, it's The Other... Regardless, I'll do my best to keep you all alive out there." He responded, attempting to sound calm despite the situation. Maybe it was just him that was nervous since he didn't have the most combat training outside Anselmo, but he wanted to help in ways where working in Anselmo was not an option. At least it would put his knowledge to use in a more... efficient way.
So as a status update, starting tomorrow I'll be stuck in a car for two days, which can be both good and bad. In a way I probably won't post due to the hassle, but I could dedicate some time to using my phone for typing up a post... when I'm not busy with my nephews.
If push comes to shove and you want to continue the story, my guy will probably be meditating in a way. Hands clasped in front of him, in such a way that his left hand is covered by his right, where his thumbs then meet upward and create a circle/oval.
Though, would it be alright if Rayes stay on the ship for the time being? I haven't really posted lately here, and I don't want to hold anyone back at the moment.
“Emotions can make you vulnerable, but they’re what separate us from those… those monsters… never forget that when you look at me.”
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Role: Seer Medic
Skills: * Gaze Into The Abyss - It is said that those who gaze long enough into the abyss can feel the abyss gazing back, and the same can be said about The Other. While Matthias can see into The Other and use it for tactical advantages or use it as a way to gain knowledge, often he finds himself puzzled as to his connection with The Other and how it can use him just as much as he can use it.
* Medical Expertise - When not covering people, Matthias has been given extensive training in the art of medical care, a majority of which are temporary solutions when away from Anselmo. He can get you patched up, but it’d be best to see a doc if you ever get back to safety as his supplies can’t cover everything.
* Nimble Fighter - Being slow can end up killing you, and Matthias knows that. Pure strength was never Matthias' forte, and he relies more on dodging and redirecting attacks rather than attempting to fight blindly, and he has his agility to thank for that. Most of the time, however, he simply uses this to outrun enemies or parkour over obstacles with the help of his speed.
* Always was a good cook - While not combat related, it has been said that Matthias was always a good cook, even with sparse ingredients. You can always count on him for a delicious meal.
Weaponry: The Oculus - A Redesigned SMG that came into being in the apocalypse, it’s surprising lightweight nature and simple firing mechanism makes it a good starting gun for a newer soldier.
Cataclysm-SF43 - A common shotgun, Though while it has been said to be a pain to reload, it has incredible stopping power with minimal spread, shredding something up close if it comes to that. It’s standard issue to Matthias, and often is his primary weapon as accuracy isn't a problem when something gets close.
Tactical Knife - You can never go wrong with a knife, and sometimes a classical design is all you need for personal self defense. It’s short and to the point, and comes in handy when out of bullets.
Equipment: * Lightweight Armor - Sacrificing defense for mobility, Matthias custom armor has kept him safe in most scenarios without having to sacrifice his agility. Complete with a customized helmet and visor that keeps radiation and harmful gasses at bay... Though lacking several modifications that could be made...
* Tan Scarf - While not providing much utility, at the very least it keeps his neck warm. Is said to be a memento from someone dear.
* Medical Utility Belt - A utility belt that has several different pouches, along with placeholders for small medical equipment. Various painkillers such as morphine, gauze for wounds, and other things can be found inside the pouches, but due to their small size, he is limited in what he can have on him during the action.
* Fingerless Gloves - Allows him to still have a steady grip with his fingers, while also having the majority of his hand covered and protected. Useful for when he has to climb things like trees or grabbing ledges.
Appearance:
(It's meant to look like an old, faded photograph) Height - 5'10"
Background: Matthias early life was nothing glamorous, growing up in the farming district. It was fortunate for his family that their share of the land was within the sanctuary of the walls, for while there were farms and orchards outside the walls, they weren't as safe as those that resided inside. At least, that was how rumor had it. Matthias the youngest of 4, and as soon as he was able to, he was put to work on the farm as the family could use all the hands they could get. It wasn't anything really special to him, but he didn't mind getting his hands dirty and doing honest work.
But there was always a nagging feeling inside, that, even when he attended the small school there, continued to pester him and yet, he couldn't place his finger on what was going on. He was seemingly content with helping his family, but deep inside he could hear a voice telling him there was more out there than just a farm and basic knowledge of the world. And while he knew it would relatively safe and reliable, as each year passed in his youth he couldn't help but want to think of something else to do.
The spark he needed to find his passion came from when he accompanied his father into the civil district for a delivery. To him, their lives were so much more... different than his was. They moved with a purpose that he himself could not distinguish at the time, and yet he felt as if this is where he belonged. But... There was more to it than that. On that day, he witnessed several medical personel began to rush off towards some sort of location, and yet, while he could tell they were doctors or medics, they had something else with them. As if it were lingering in the shadows, a calling that he couldn't quite distinguish what it was. And so he followed them, arriving at the steps of the Seers Corp headquarters before an adult took notice of his presence, feeling that the boy had potential. He told Matthias to strive to come here and solve the mystery as to what his calling was. For that voice wasn't his own, it was The Other telling him he could be so much more if he opened his eyes.
As he grew into his teens and neared his adulthood, he strove to do better in school and learn as much as he could, not only for his sake, but for others as well. When he turned 18, he managed to get into the Anselmo Educational Society and Center of Advancement, taking his time at there to chase two of his desires. From various medical supplies to operations and procedures, he did his best to keep up and truly learn on the medical side. And often, he'd be in the Seer Corp, being taught the ways of seers and how to use it to benefit society. And through this, he wasn't alone. He had met an academy ranger in training whose name was Marcel who desired to go out and explore the wilds. Matthias didn't know how they clicked, but they often helped the other. Marcel helped Matthias hone his marksmanship and accuracy with a gun occasionally, and Matthias helped Marcel study, telling him about The Other.
Time went on, and soon they were separated when Matthias was 22, Marcel going on an expedition team and Matthias to stay and practice. And for a year, things went well. Matthias got experience in The Other in a safer environment, along with training to become a doctor, and Marcel was still alive. It was only by chance that they placed Matthias to accompany Marcel's expedition team to investigate an outpost that had gone dark. It was to be Matthias' first real trip outside into the wilderness to make sure the team would get home safe.
But... when they got there, there was so much destruction that you couldn't call it an outpost anymore. It was just a decimation of life, finding no survivors in the brief, ominous, silent search they had. It wasn't until they had started to leave did they notice the movement on the outskirts of the destruction and that Matthias had begun to realize that he had been underprepared. Chaos ensued as dozens of monsters leapt from the shadows, attempting to kill the team with a sneak attack as they had waited for the moment to strike. Blood and bullet shells seemed to cover the air and the deafening sound of gunfire filled the area.
They did their best to retreat, but it felt as if when one monster went down, two more took its place. It was luck that Marcel and Matthias, along with their leader and one other, had managed to break through the monsters enough to start running away towards what seemed like a building that was still intact, relatively speaking. If anything, it was their best fortifications against the monsters and would be the safest option, as running away from the outpost was not due to being surrounded. As they ran, they could hear the anguish of their fallen teammates as they were torn apart...
Bursting through the doors, they immediately shut them and began to pile whatever they could to block the entrance and stall the horde outside. The place was littered with holes, some large enough for a body to hide in. It didn't take long for the loud banging on the door to happen, and as the group aimed their weapons at the door, their leader began to set up a distress signal... But, who knew if it would reach Anselmo with the outpost in ruins. What made the situation worse was how the monsters must have been attempting to find or create a way inside, as the building shook above them. In hindsight, it wasn't a wise decision to hide inside, but it was the only viable option at the time. Worse still, Matthias began to have visions of the attack on the outpost, being relayed the information from The Other. But it meant there could be a way to stall for even longer. He rushed through the building, attempting to come up with some solution. The Other was attempting to show him something, but what?
Involuntarily, he was pulled into The Other, barely taking notice of the monster's minds and souls as he attempted to recover from the initial shock. But, he saw this as an opportunity, attempting to reach out to them in an attempt to confuse the monsters or tamper with them. However, before he was able to sucessfully do so, the building they were attacking collapsed. It was as if The Other was taunting him for attempting to save their lives, and he could hear a voice mocking him, having the event replay over and over in front of Matthias as the young man knelt down in horror at what he was witnessing.
Everything past that is a blur to Matthias, almost like a void in his memory, and when he regained consciousness, the world was blurry and moving. But, not voluntarily; He was being dragged out of the rubble by a ranger team. And while he wasn't fully aware of what was going on, his eyes locked on the corpses that they had pulled from the rubble. His entire team, crushed and coated in blood. He too was battered and broken, but not as severe as he had been in The Other. It seemed that when he had entered The Other, Marcel had placed him inside one of the holes in the ground so that he was out of the way and easier to protect. And when the building fell, he used his body, heavy armor and all, as a shield above to keep Matthias safe.
It took several years for Matthias to fully recover, but he was upset... Not only at his failure for not using his Seer abilities to help, but for not noticing the monsters gathering in the first place. They told him that it was fine, that it was a learning experience, but he felt as if he failed them.
And so, he dedicated himself to better harnessing his abilities, both in the medical field and in his research on The Other, until he felt ready to face the outside world once more.
Other: Often, he can be found humming or singing softly to himself. Also, he can be found occasionally staring at a fading photo.
Wish: He wishes that he had the technology to heal and protect others without worry that they will be hurt. He wants fatal injuries to cease to exist.
Trauma: Matthias is haunted by the memory of his former squad and their unfortunate deaths inside the building that was meant to protect them.
