Well it all depends on what skills you want for your units and what class you want them to end on. For example, my knight's reclass options are Monk and Shaman. I don't intend to reclass into shaman, but picking it gives that unit access to Druid later on (which I do want). All the other skills I want are from Monk, General, Bishop, and finally Holy Knight (my ending class). This is so that she becomes a massive defensive support unit that also excels at taking down risen and other monsters.

You think up some ending units and what their role on the team is, and then figure out what classes they have to go through to best fit that role.

With a sigh Mr. Clarkson replied, "Kirin, I was calling your name repeatedly, how did you not hear me?" Half expecting no answer to that question, he moved on after a brief pause. "I saw you on my attendance list for today, but you weren't in class. It's only the first day of school and you're going to start up with your antics again?"

Randal: What is this place?
Nyra: I've read about this place, it's called the "Water Temple" or something to that measure. Apparently the water level raises and sinks to close off or reveal pathways.
Randal: Well how did we end up here? We had just won at the stadium and before we knew it we got here somehow.
Jason: Yeah, really, what gives? I didn't sign up for this bull-
Michelle: I hate to interrupt, but we're not the only ones here!

*A swarm of risen soldiers appears out of nowhere throughout the temple*
Randal: Gods, what the hell are they?!
Nyra: Risen! I've read about them in my Ylissian history texts. Basically they're zombies, people brought back from the dead with dark magic to fight.
Michelle: That's horrible! Who would do such a thing?
Randal: I don't know, and I don't want to find out. We need to figure out a way out of here!

*A cavalier followed by a shaman appear in the distance*
Jason: Wait, who's that approaching from the north? They don't look undead to me.
Randal: I see them, let's get closer.
Beth: There's one right in front of us! I'll hold it off!
Randal: Good, watch our backs!

Michelle: Pair with Randal (-1,0)
Beth: Move (0,4), Wait
Randal: Move (-1,4), Wait
Nyra: Move (0,4), Wait
Jason: Move (-1,4), Wait

Def Bot those Knights and switch for the kill when your pair-up partner weakens them. I think that's what I did against Freeshooter. Also, pairing a knight with a speed support can allow it to double at early levels against many units.

This is what I learned trying to use Kellam in Awakening.
