Hello, everyone! I've been in contact with Baklava in PM's and had this character approved, she'll be joining the RP soon!

Name: Ketalla

Age: 15

Race: Deku Scrub

Gender: Female

Appearance:

Ketalla is a juvenile female Deku Scrub, and is therefore quite small and lean in stature. She is approximately 3'2'' tall and weighs a whopping 50 pounds. She has orange eyes that glow like any other Deku, and her wooden body is a medium-brown color as seen in the picture. Unlike other Deku, Ketalla's hair (made of leaves) is a deep and rich green hue instead of the yellow that most Deku have. Perhaps this is simply because she is still young and her hair has not changed color to reflect the aging process. On her face are no notable scars or tattoos, but due to her personality she appears to always be blushing. The clothes she wears are seen above, a small green dress with frayed hemming along the bottom and a small green flower sown onto the front. The buds on her head are actually a sort of headband she made herself, and not part of her body. She wears a pair of green cuff-links to match her outfit and carries what seems to be an over-sized backpack filled with her inventory (explained later).

Theme Song:

Personality: Timid, Caring, Determined, Innocent, Perceptive, Creative, Clumsy

Backstory: Ketalla is a Deku that comes from deep in the Lost Woods. She was raised in a family of Business Scrubs, who were quite prosperous for a time. She would travel between the Lost Woods and the Kokiri Forest to visit friends and pay homage to the still-young Deku Tree. From both the Kokiri and the Deku Tree she learned how to become one with nature and to always assist those who needed help. Following this philosophy, she took it upon herself to learn practical first-aid for both Deku and Kokiri.

Her family's only customers were other Deku however, and soon the Deku of Lost Woods needed her family's services less and less until no profits could be made at all. It was around this time that she began to hear the whisper, beckoning for her to come to the Festival of Time. Eventually she explained what she heard to her family. Not knowing what to make of the "the world depends on it" portion, they determined that it was a sign that it was time for Ketalla to leave the forest and pursue the life of a traveling merchant. Having already decided at a young age that she would follow in her father's footsteps and become a Business Scrub herself, Ketalla set out on her journey. The first place she will try to sell her goods is Kakariko Village. Since the Festival of Time is happening, many people will be there buying all sorts of things so to Ketalla it seems like the perfect business opportunity. Deep down, however, she truly believes that she has been called to perform some greater feat, for the benefit of everyone.

Skills/Talents:
1. Entrepreneurship (PS)- Raised in a family of merchants, Ketalla is familiar with the basic ins and outs of entrepreneurship, including basic principles of economics and bartering skills. More often than not she can get the better end of a deal, or minimize her losses in an unfavorable deal.

2. Forest Magic (MS)- For both combat and practical uses, Ketalla is adept with the magic of nature. She can fight by summoning plants to fight for her or to whip at foes with thorny vines, etc. She does not like to fight, however, and mostly uses her magic for healing and curing purposes. She is also able to summon a Deku Flower to hide inside of or fly with.

3. Deku Flower (PS)- Ketalla can hide most effectively in a Deku Flower and can spring upward from it at a moment's notice. Once airborne she can use petals gathered from within to keep herself aloft, hovering slowly in any direction she chooses until she runs out of momentum.

4. First Aid (SS)- Besides using Fey Magic, Ketalla is able to perform basic first-aid on both plants and animals. She is able to address minor wounds easily and can heal serious wounds skillfully if given the time and concentration. She is unable to use these skills to heal anything inorganic, and cannot use these skills on Gorons (although pure fey magic can still heal them to a degree).

5. Agile footwork (CS)- Due to her small size and light weight, Ketalla is prone to being physically wounded. However, she is also able to move very quickly, and is better at dodging attacks than an average human by a noticeable margin. She can also run very quickly for someone of her size, especially over uneven terrain. Lastly, she can hop across water (or any other fluid she is more buoyant than that doesn't impede movement or set her on fire) for as long as she retains momentum.

6. Light Magic (MS)- Though to a lesser degree than Forest Magic, Ketalla can use Light Magic at a basic level to heal herself or allies with pure energy as opposed to using the various herbs and plants she specializes in. This is especially useful for treating wounds on something inorganic like a Goron, and is generally faster for healing than Forest Magic.

7. Sewing (PS)- Ketalla is able to sew clothing back together and create new clothing if she has the materials.

Goal(s): Ketalla's goal is to become a renown Business Scrub. She believes that by doing this she can make her family proud by saving them from going bankrupt, as well as help people from all over the world by selling what they are looking for (which is a genuine concern of hers).

Inventory: (Because she's a merchant she carries a lot of things with her in a large backpack, which holds enough for one person to hike a mountain if they wished. That doesn't mean that she can properly utilize or has a need for everything she carries for personal use.)

Merchant Items
- 30 Deku Sticks
- 50 Deku Nuts
- 100 Deku Seeds
- 1 Deku Shield

Food
- 3 days of rations (various fauna, I'm assuming Deku are vegetarians)

Healing Items
- 3 Health Herbs
- 1 Antidote Herb
- Deku Flower Pollen

Misc. Items
- Needle and thread
- Spool of yarn
- 5 Small Deku Leaves

Wallet: 30 Rupees
I'll work on that, Light. Also, we've been discussing personal trees with everyone and we've gotten some good feedback. Soon we'll create the character sheets in the google spreadsheets with links to those in the OP, where you can glance over your characters and finalize them or make any last minute changes. Beyond that is Light and I finishing the effects of the remaining skills and updating them in the OP, and then everyone spends their first handful of skill points on skills as they please. I already have an opening scenario and a general arc of the story planned, but most of the details are up to how the party proceeds so it's not totally linear. I want to provide opportunities for side-quests and optional dungeons, etc. along the way as well.
You guys didn't get it yet? I'm sorry, I'll make sure Light sends it to you both today.
As long as you used the point-buy calculator Light made and the end total equals 0 then you're fine. Also, no stat can be any lower than a 3.
Sorry it took a while, but Parser and DragonBeastMode both of your characters have been accepted. You will both receive a PM to further flesh out your personal skills, even though it looks like you both have a good idea of where it's going. The only thing, DragonBeastMode, is that your character can't be from Texas since it doesn't exist. This is a different planet that just happens to be called Earth. Your character can however be from somewhere that is basically our world's equivalent of Texas. It's a minor technicality, no big deal.
Honestly, the numbers for averages are accurate but estimating the "above average yet not overpowered/broken" is more difficult than you might think. They are really just estimates at this point, they could be higher/lower. We have played Pathfinder before, but this is our first time GM'ing this engine. There are certain questions that I just can't answer because we've never experienced it ourselves. This is a bit of a learning process for us too, so please bear with the balancing/GM choices we've made and wait until we've gotten some actual gameplay in before over-analyzing what we're working on.

For now, think of building your character this way: Think of your character, ignoring stats, as though they were a real person or a person in a novel/show. What is their personality like? Who is this person? What do you want them to be and what do you want them to do? After you've fully created your character in this way, THEN you adjust your parameters to reflect this person you've made. As the game progresses, build your character even further towards that end goal. It should be that your personality and the character themselves dictate what parameters you invest in, not the other way around.

I find it odd that despite having played a PNP game. You're having trouble responding to a question involving basic matters. Also is there reason for so much level and stat number inflation?

If the question had been clear from the start then I could have answered it much faster. Also, please explain what you mean by inflation. If I don't know exactly what you are referring to then I can't give an adequate answer the first time (as we just saw).

No, dude, I'm not asking for game . This is not mechanics time right now.I am asking. What a stat. Of 10 or 5 or 15 means. So I can RP those stats, and get a general idea of how tough/strong/fast/whatever my guy is in comparison to the general population. What can I do and not do with a given stat. That is my question.

Without involving stats and being as general as possible, think of yourself as average overall. I don't know how much more simple I can make the answer. Think about yourself in real life. For example, I am excellent at writing music, much more so than the average person. By contrast, I am extremely terrible at sports because I never play them or exercise, much less than the average person (needless to say). I could list a ton of examples, but at the end of the day I'm still an average person. Roleplay your advantages and weaknesses however you think is appropriate for someone with parameters like yours. If you are a warrior with high strength and low intelligence, then you can safely assume playing your character as a meat-head is logical and reasonable. Or, if you are a magician with high intelligence and low strength, role-playing someone who is very knowledgeable but unable to lift a sword over his head is easily within boundaries.

The point is, don't let your parameters be the end-all of how you roleplay the character, just use them to compliment the character you already had in mind. Don't over think it.

Parameters cap at 99 right? Ten sounds average to me.

I answered this earlier, the average for starting characters is between 7-10 depending on how you spent your points in the point-buy system. Parameters do cap at 99.

I'd like to get the GM's thing on this.Like what is average and what is Herakles-tier.

Do you mean for starting levels or for the game as a whole? Because those two are very different things. Someone who is Olympian at starting level would have multiple parameters near 20 or so, the average being 7-10 by comparison. Similarly, since the level cap is 100 and you get a total of 300 points to allocate over the course of 100 levels, the average for the parameters of a level 100 playable character is 43 on 6 of the 9 parameters and 44 on the remaining 3. But that's assuming you spread your points as evenly as possible. Someone with one or 2 capped parameters will still have an overall average near those numbers. Compared to that, a Herakles-tier character would have an average parameter spread of around 60. These "Herakles" characters are more often than not bosses. I don't know what else to say, because you left the question rather open-ended.

If I HAD to stat out a dirt poor farmer they's have around the same average as you guys, with stats ranging between 5-12 mostly but being very well balanced.
I'm not sure how that's relevant to your character building since knowing that shouldn't change anything physically. Someone like an ordinary farmer wouldn't necessarily have parameters mapped out for them unless they were an enemy to fight or an NPC ally in combat somehow. The parameters depend on the type of creature/enemy it is, so technically a "human" just like your characters can have any number of possible parameter combinations just like your characters do, because it all depends on who they are. Fighting enemy knights, you'd expect higher CON and STR for sure, with other stats adjusted to fit the kind of knight they are. The point is that the average will be comparable to the party's average, give or take depending on who the enemy is. Bosses will obviously be noticeably higher than average so that they can only be beaten by a party working together. No matter how you build your starting parameters you won't be seen as some exceptionally athletic person or as a wildly talented and adept magician, etc. That is not to say however that you can't end up like that at higher levels. Think about how a generic rpg hero starts off like every other person around him in terms of overall strength and then becomes an incredible badass who's strength is no longer comparable to ordinary people. That is the way it should feel as you are getting stronger.

Also with the bear example, all enemies (including bears) scale with the party average, but that doesn't mean you'll just be fighting stronger and stronger bears the entire story. The types of enemies as well as their overall strength will reflect how far you've come in building your characters and in the story.
