Back to Basics
Name: Mair Branwenn
Aliases: “May”, Raven
Age: 19
"Stupid? Illegal? I’m in."
Gender: Female
Tourist or Local?: Local
Height: 5”7
Build: Scrawny! Without much fat or muscle.
Hair: Raven black, reaching just below her shoulder blades. She usually wears it flowing freely but will occasionally put it in a ponytail. She has purple highlights at the tips of her hair.
Eyes: Cold, ocean blue with a hint of green.
Distinguishing Marks: She has a scar on her left thigh that is still healing as well as a unique bunch of freckles on her left bicep.
Style: She tends to have more of an emo style. She wears only hoodies; she refuses to leave the house without one and tends to be sensitive when teased about it, as well as a practically trademarked beanie she wears everywhere. She tends not to have any sort of makeup on, refusing to put forth that much effort. To match her jacket, she usually wears baggy or ripped skinny jeans. Under her jacket, she wears a simple black tank top.
General Appearance: She has very fair skin, due to her constant (and probably unhealthy!) jacket usage. If you did happen to cleave her skull in half, it would be congruent. But let’s not find that out. She is rather pretty in her own way.
Occupation: Cashier at TK Maxx, part of the Eastlfort shopping centres.
Hobbies & Interests: Guitar, singing, skateboarding, art. (Specifically graffiti)
Skills: Guitar, staying low and moving quickly, lying/bluffing
Supernatural Sensitivity: Medium
Personality: Mair tends to be very turbulent in her moods. On her best days, she can be uplifting, funny and caring. On her worst, she becomes manipulative, cynical and angry, and in a single conversation, her mood can switch between these two polar opposites.
For the most part, Mair is a good person, or at least tries to be. She is almost always ready to lend a helping hand to her friends. She cares a lot about what people feel and think about herself which leads to a lot of insecurities, though she has gotten good at hiding her feelings. She doesn’t have many friends, but the ones she does she would lay her life down for.
When you don't know her, she comes off as cold and uncaring. But she has a good spirit.
However, she also tends to be rather stubborn. She doesn’t like being told what she should do or what she should think. She has a rather big problem with authority and got in trouble in her youth due to her generally rebellious spirit. If she dislikes the person enough, when they tell her to do something, she will do the opposite, just to spite them.
Mair is also annoyingly curious. She likes to know how and why things work. She wants to unravel the mysteries of the world, though she hasn’t made much progress yet. The biggest one seems to emit from Rawyn itself. Just maybe that’s what keeps her here, despite her want to leave.
Bio: Mair was born in South Rawyn. Her mother and her father divorced when she was about 5. She never saw or heard from her mother again at that point. Her dad moved them around a lot, marrying 2 more times before finally moving them back to Rawyn, still single. He had developed an alcohol problem shortly after Mair’s mom left and that led to a lot of abuse thrown at her. Most of it was physical, though the damage it caused was emotional. She began to hate her dad and would lash out with acts of graffiti, vandalism and she had an addiction to marijuana since she was 15 that she recently overcame. To say the least, they had a rocky relationship.
School was easy for Mair. She didn’t really fit in with any of the ‘cliques’, so she kept mostly to herself until she graduated. Since she didn’t fit in, she was bullied a lot but she did fight back with graffiti and spinning a web of rumors that discredited them. So she got by, in a way. The friends she did have were other rowdy teenagers like herself whom she had met in a jail cell one night. She never was sentenced to anything, though she was detained for nights plenty of times. Due to her constant brushes with law enforcement, she had learned how to keep her head down and move quickly, as well as lying. She quickly learned what they would or wouldn’t believe. Her friends were a bit older than herself but she fit in with them perfectly. They taught her how to play the guitar and who are convinced her to die her hair. One night, they decided they wanted to go to the lighthouse. They got to the path and never went further, even their combined bravery didn’t last a second. Recently, those friends have moved off to some bigshot college, leaving Mair alone and with way too much free time.
Mair now resides in South Rawyn, making just enough money to scrape by. She rides her skateboard wherever she goes. She lives alone and spends most of her time practicing the guitar her father bought her for her birthday one year, one of the few good memories she has with him. Mair spends a lot of time on her drawings as well. She likes to create patterns for herself to graffiti, though since her friends moved, she hasn’t built up the motivation to use them.
