So thank you, for making me believe in magic O.o
True - makes sense -...then I'll go with not knowing about the school being supernatural, if that's okay with the GM :)

Della was a more than a little alarmed at the forthcoming barmaid's friendly manner. She felt herself automatically hunch smaller on the bar stool as the barmaid nattered on about the official looking poster and, of course, men. The tavern seemed to have got slightly busier since she had entered and she was starting to feel a little uncomfortable in the midst of so many people; she normally liked to avoid crowds but she knew of no other tavern in this town. She muttered an order of a cheap mug of ale - painfully aware of how little money she had in the depths of her cloak pockets - and wondered how she was going to pay for a room.

And all the money she could have....

"Wait, miss!" she said, stopping the barmaid in her tracks, who was already flouncing off to fulfil Della's order. She looked up at the woman for the first time, cringing as a few strands of her hair slipped free from underneath her hood. She pushed them back, a little frustrated. She really needed to cut her hair or at least do something with it.

"The army thing, that poster - how long does it run for? How much do they pay you? Do they train you at Liaryn's main city, where the royals are?" And, of course, more importantly "The powerful magic wielders?"

She glanced back at the thing that seemed to illicit so much annoyance from the staff and locals - a mere piece of paper, virtually unreadable in this light. Not that she was very good at reading, anyway. A tingle of anticipation rustled down her spine. Was it really a fool's quest? Did she dare?

"Oh, and do they accept women?"

She was fairly sure she already knew the answer but it couldn't hurt to ask.

Whoooohooo!
Not participated in a mortal instruments RP before but I love the series and your descriptions!
Quick question - will any characters from the series feature or is it only going to be the setting that we use?
Juliette's eyes nearly popped out of her head when she saw the time.
"DAD! MUM!" she cried, showering crumbs across the floor from the piece of toast she'd been chewing, in the back room of the leaky cauldron. Though wizard food was good, she usually preferred a good old piece of non-magical toast in the morning. She scrambled up from her seat, still wearing her pyjamas, and darted through to the empty bar of the Leaky Cauldron where she saw her parents talking animatedly to Mr and Mrs Weasley.
She blushed, not realising they had company. She really should have changed out of her pyjamas.
"Dad! You're supposed to be taking me to King's Cross! Do you KNOW what time it is?" Juliette hissed and her dad's eyes widened in revelation. Her mum merely shook her head.
"Hurry up and get dressed!" he cried "I'll grab your stuff! Sorry, Ron, Hermione, what were you saying?"
Juliette dashed upstairs and threw on some clothes, tugging a brush through her hair. Honestly, her father was as scatter-brained as her - at least he'd given her his remembrall this year. Though how it helped - apart from frustratingly taunting you with the knowledge she had forgotten something - she didn't know.

"Okay! BYE!" Juliette yelled as she took the trolley off her father "See you at school! Don't you need to get going?"
She burst through the brick pillar of platforms 9 and 10 before her father could protest and follow her, and stumbled onto the platform she needed; platform 9 3/4. She grabbed her stuff and hurriedly boarded the train, able to now see that she wasn't as late as she'd originally thought. Breathing a sigh of relief, she walked down the train and peered in each compartment. She finally spotted her fellow Gryffindors in a large compartment at the end of the train and rushed forward.
"HEY guys-"
But, as she entered, she tripped on the edge of the door and tumbled to the ground, her belongings scattering everywhere. She apologised sheepishly, hurrying to collect them all up and cursed her clumsiness.
"A c-cyborg?!" Matilda stuttered, a little alarmed. Her eyes widened to saucer-like proportions behind her lenses and she adjusted them nervously. But then of course she just had to say something dumb like...
"You mean like the terminator?" she asked, her voice calmer "Wow! I should love to know how that works. What computer sys-"
She bit her tongue as she realised she was launching into full-out geek mode - which was quite rare for her as she didn't know she possessed speech brakes before. Normally she just ploughed out through her science talk but it was the first day and she supposed she'd like to end it with a least some friends.
"Sorry" she apologised, grinning "I'm a tad inquisitive! People also get creeped out and move away when I launch into proper nerd speak..."
She realised then that the pretty, shy girl was saying something. She appeared to start in a different language but settling it into a 'hello'.
"Hello", Matilda said brightly.
God, Matilda thought. This is perhaps the most people she had talked to in a single day!
"Interesting language - I come from England so I know what a different country feels like. Though at least I don't have to contest with a different language..."
Out the corner of her eye, she noticed another boy and a girl - who looked pretty enough to be a goddess - enter the room. Why did everyone here look like supermodels?! She tried not to feel self conscious...
You have allowed me to see spiderman in a whole, new, sophisticated light.
