TFW you realize your SW character somehow turned into an anime character. I didn't even use an anime avatar. Damn you Japan! Freaking brainwashed me.

Only the cup of tea and the hilarious way he said helloooo were relevant. :D

(That and I'm secretly a Trekky. Shh...)
Name: Lin Yang (White people can have Chinese names too. -,-)

Age: 17

Ability: Flow walking. It's an ability from Star Wars (RIP extended universe books) that allows the user to see, but RARELY influence (only with spoken words and very exhaustive concentration, never physical action) past events that occurred within a short timeframe (I'll leave how long the viewable timeframe can be up to the GM since I'm basically an RP noob again). Also, even if Lin successfully manages to make her voice heard in past events, she cannot directly alter her own timeline.

Appearance:

Strength: Hand-to-hand combat. She's a scrappy fighter who can hold her own in fisticuffs (or footicuffs if that's a thing). She's also extremely loyal and overly protective to the point of physical violence, which can often be looked as both a weakness and a strength.

Weakness: Motion sickness on almost all forms of travel. (Yeah, yeah, Natsu Dragneel....blah blah blah) She also has to be within a certain radius of where she wants to flow walk. For example, she can't flow walk as a form of mind travel or whatever (that'd just be weird and OP).

Bio: Lin's parents died in a fiery conflagration when their private jet crashed somewhere in a far off ocean. Lin was orphaned at the age of three. As a result of this tragedy, Lin spent the rest of her childhood either in an orphanage or bouncing from foster home to foster home. Her parents had been cocky and never gotten around to writing a will or giving young Lin a trust fund, for they were rich stockbrokers.

So she basically grew up always wishing she could go back in time and bring her parents back. It took a long time, but on her seventeenth birthday, Lin's home city had an earthquake, a sinkhole opened up underneath her, and she tumbled into a sewer. Getting up and brushing it off like the tough as nails young lady she was and is, Lin Yang continued forward, bravely exploring the sewer system for a way out. Either fortunately or not so fortunately, she instead happened upon some toxic radioactive sludge dumped into the sewer by heavens-know-who and, after tripping on a large rat and falling facefirst into the stuff, she gained her power.

Upon emerging from the sewers, Lin saw that she was surrounded by old-timey automobiles and people in strange, very old-fashioned clothes. It turned out that she had flow walked back into the 1950s! Elated, Miss Yang experimented with this ability to no end, but found much to her dismay, that no matter how hard she focused, she couldn't bring her parents back. Ever since she snapped out of that initial burst, she has only been able to achieve very small flow walks of up to an hour in length.

Pretty soon, news stories started cropping up about more teenagers like herself developing essentially superpowers. While her own power was a carefully kept secret, Lin decided it couldn't hurt to apply for the school since she had nowhere else to go. In short, Lin has a fierce personality and can go between very mature and all jokes - of the practical or pun variety - at the drop of a hat. She is currently en route to the academy as a cargo ship stowaway and feeling very VERY apprehensive about it since she gets motion sickness from the PTSD of hearing how her parents died.
Ugggh I hate travelling..., the thought crossing Lin Yang's mind as she leaned against the wall of the bus. Despite the bus claiming it was "air ride equipped", it seemed like every tiny jolt in the road made her stomach do one more in a LONG line of flips. At least it was a marked improvement over the plane ride that had taken her from her hometown of San Francisco to the biggest city nearest to this little camp she signed up to attend.

The entirety of her plane ride had been spent gripping the armrests of the seat, knuckles white and eyes wide with terror. Try as she might, it seemed near impossible to keep her brain from sending her fragments of possible futures: the plane exploding in midair, the plane nosediving in to the ground and her, in the back, surviving and living alone in the wilderness only to die of starvation or disease or being eaten by some wild animal. There was even one scenario where Lin puked and the flight attendants got so mad that they physically tossed her off the passenger jet in midair, letting her fall to her death on impact. She suspected that that last fantasy was purely fear-based, but she didn't discount it. Her power was weirdly unpredictable like that....at least the future part. The past was usually easy to access.

The bus hit another bump as it turned on to a dirt road, prompting Yang to look out a window....and immediately made her wish she hadn't. The bus was now offroad, moving at a fast clip towards what appeared to be a very sizable cabin in the woods. When the bus pulled up in front of the cabin's front porch, about a good fifteen feet from it, Lin sighed with relief, clutching her stomach and finally mustering the courage to sit upright. She wondered if her PTSD-induced motion sickness would ever go away. It sure would make traveling easier...especially considering this was the first time she'd ever left Frisco and she was fascinated to live in an entirely different place, or basically an entirely different world as she disembarked the bus, a man and a woman standing side-by-side on the front porch of the cabin, assumed by Lin to be her welcome committee given the way that they were giving her the staredown. Despite her rather lanky 5'7" fairly muscular frame, even Lin seemed taken aback.

She raised a black-gloved hand in greeting, mustering as friendly a smile as possible. "Hi!" she said into the (chilly?) morning air, her breath fogging out in front of her. The couple said nothing, but the returning smile they gave sent a small unnerved shiver down Miss Yang's back. She was acutely aware that the brochure claimed the rest of these people were supposed to also have powers. That warning still fresh in her mind, she approached the couple with sure steps, stopping just in front and a wee bit in front of them.

The couple spoke in unison. "We, your camp counselors, are so glad you've arrived, Lin Yang! Breakfast has been prepared for you, should you still require it. It and your room awaits you inside. You may be assigned a roommate, so let the other campers get to know you as soon as possible! The typical order of day activities are as follows: breakfast, arts and crafts, sports, lunch, wood skills, competition, supper, fire stories. We hope you enjoy your new home, Lin!"

Lin raised her hands, taking a half step back and leaning on that long leg. "Whoa! I wasn't expecting a two-for-one special! Thanks....guys? Guy? Thank you, you two! I mean, sorry. Guess I'd better be heading in now!" She laughed a nervous, full-bodied laugh before quickly bounding around the two presumed counselors and into the well-furnished cabin with the fantastic rug on the floor. Acutely aware of having just been outside, Lin avoided the rug until she had kicked off her boots in the entry way, feeling the smooth wooden floor boards beneath her feet. She took one step towards the fireplace and something sharp poked her foot. "OW! Splinter, splinter, splinter!" She hopped around on one foot until she steadied herself with one hand on the back of a couch, catching her breath.
So now I can post the hider thing in the character page? Just let me know when I'm allowed to post and if there are anything other tips that have sprung up since you wrote your rules page. Don't mind me, I'll just be playing ketchup reading through all the previous IC posts. (I'm intentionally avoiding reading the Character tab so Lin doesn't magically know everything about her new comrades.)
I completely agree. Her future reading ability is probably going to be like one blurred cryptic image that could mean anything. The main application of her power I wanted to use though, was like to have her walk into a room, flow walk and know everything that's happened (Actions, conversations, etc.) in that room in like, say, a certain time span. Would five minutes be fair? Ten? I might need to rewrite the bio a wee bit since I threw out a random 1960s date. O,o)

Say, if someone stole something, Lin could use her power to try to flow walk back that number of minutes and see who stole what with a guesstimation of when (unless she could see a present clock's past time).
You'll have to be VERY careful with s power like this.

Which is why I left it up to you to determine such things as the range (I'm thinking she can see just the past events of a room). If she gets a glimpse of a possible future, it's one that you allow her to have (or tell me to make her have {preferred}, muhaha). My motto on any sort of fortune telling really is "always in motion is the future."
@KatherinWinter I hope this explains it better than I can. It's basically the power Jacen Solo possesses in the Star Wars extended universe book. starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Flow-walking

And actually, I might like to change that so she can attempt to foretell the future as well as learn from the past. I'd strictly keep the "always in motion is the future" thing in place so her predictions have an excellent chance of being very wrong.
@KatherinWinter I really hope I did this right. It's been a LO_ONG time since I've roleplayed on any forum. In addition, I also hope this isn't too far into your roleplay for new people to join.

I enjoy RPing anything in the medieval or space-age genres. It's been a long time since I've actually done any forum RPG and I've missed it. I used to RP on an Eragon forum about seven to eight years ago, but then they went inactive. I've never been on a forum that caters to multiple RP genres before, so I should hope that you're a much more active community. ^.^
