Bio

He/They Geek by day, mailman by the hour. New to the site, and rpg forums. Kinda. I have some brief experience on Iwaku but lots of time playing Pathfinder, Call of Cthulu, Dungeons and Dragons, Starfinder, etc. I typically run games that are on the spooky, mysterious side. Open to any game that has role play, combat, exploration, I can do whatever. Outside of rpgs, I watch weird movies, play a few games, write, and hike.

Personally, I think a naturalist or some kind of mountain climber would make a cool investigator.
I'd also recommend a quick read about the technology of the time. Rotary phones, typewriters, cassette tapes. 1973 was the year the USA launched its first space station Skylab. Microwaves finally became affordable to the everyman. The very first arcade games are rolling out across the country. It's also two years until the first digital camera, meaning all photos have to be developed in a dark room. Perhaps most Sci-fi of all were the first pocket calculators and LCD/LED screens.
All very cool ideas. They all have a lot of potential plot and character development. I could even see them adding a valuable skill or insight to a group.
Neat. Do you need help creating a pathfinder character?
Oh and despite the time setting, bigoted attitudes more common from the time won't have a place in the story. You can be whoever you want to be and it won't bring about trouble.
Glad to have a couple bites lol. I'm working on finer details for the village rn, such as a rough map and notable npcs. If not too many others show interest, I can adjust for a smaller group. Do either of you have a rough idea for a character? There's no real limits as far as backstory goes.
This story was originally intended for my IRL role play group. Unfortunately, my friends aren't fans of slow burn scary stories. I'm looking to run a group of 5-7. I decided to make the time period slightly historical to capture that campfire story feel.

As for the story itself, it revolves around the village's harvest festival and the popular purple pumpkins that only grow in the area. Slymere is quaint and isolated, situated on a cliff above the nearby settlements. Growing up in the valley, you might have heard old wives' tales about people vanishing in the woods without a trace. It's a popular story for scaring local kids into staying out of the woods, at least.

I want to focus on mystery, detective work, and suspense over gore and jump scares. Something a group of people can puzzle over, and an open setting to explore.

A figurine. I have a friend that loves painting figurines. Though normally she paints Warhammer figures and mechs. She used to have a studio in her house for painting.
Anyone want to play an evil villain? The Hell's Vengeance Advanture Path is all about a party of evil adventurers serving the Chelaxian empire. A paladin of Iomedae and Kinight Errant of the glorious reclamation are inspiring an uprising in Longacre. The party begins as level 1 amoral mercenaries assisting the Baron of Longacre in maintaining peace. If we make it to the end of the book, everyone should be level four. As an evil campaign, the party will fight the forces of good and make many questionable decisions. CW for violence and demons. As an evil campaign, you will not be allowed to play a good character. Neutral alignments are allowed, but you must be willing to break the law and work for evil nobles. I will not allow murder hobos either. Players need to play nice with each other, or at least cooperative. You can be evil without playing a serial killer. Honestly, we don't even need to take the evil that seriously if we decide not to. I have only read the first book in the AP, but it seems like a fun ascension to super villain life. As this is my first campaign on the site, I'll ask that we stick to official material. Any Paizo content is allowed. I look forward to cackling maniacally with you.
