There were a few moments of silence as the two sized each other up. However before Verona's slowly closing grip could catch Ujauja, he was gone. Unfortunate thought Verona. Feeling for vibrations in the sand, the retreating hollows motions were tracked. The hidden surprises, a pair of long spear like tendrils hardened like diamond, poised to strike at the slowing prey as it made it's escape...and then, in that moment, something was different. The sand suddenly feels lighter thought Verona, unaware of the rift that had begun opening below. Before there was time to react, a feeling of shock gripped the behemoth as everything came crashing downward in a bright ocean of sand and debris, spewing through the gargantuan maw of the portal. The sand around Verona's body washed away revealing something horrible. Something long forgotten buried beneath centuries of time. It was the burning sensation of sunlight crawling over the many eyes of Verona's Tendrils.
"GWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUYYYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOOAAAA!!!"
A violent roar escaped the portal and shook the town below as more tendrils fell into this new world. They viciously squirmed and twitched, weaving through the cascading sand to feebly acquire shelter. However before the full monstrosity could be revealed, the appendages withdrew. "PAIN!" Screamed Verona in a deep voice, speaking for the first time in centuries as it's form was quickly concealed beneath the shadows of a coat upon the fall. Verona's obsidian eyes had adapted over millennia of hunting hollows to the darkness of Hueco Mundo. The sunlight here was absolutely unbearable. I need to find darkness thought Verona, falling onto the trunk of a small parked truck. The steel and mechanism burst into a shambling heap sending metal bits flying awry. Several near by car alarms began to cry out as Verona emerged from the wreckage with eyes covered.
Stumbling down the sidewalk, several light poles were toppled and windows were shattered as the blinded Verona felt it's way along. Using an array of sensory tendrils, Verona managed to find an open manhole cover. More importantly, it was a reprieve from the light. Passing by a pair of confused human constructions workers, looking blindly for what was causing the chaos, Verona quickly slipped down into the dark depths of the sewers beneath Karakura town. Meanwhile the toxins effecting Ujauja began to lose their effect, being out of range of Verona's spiritual pressure, which became concealed upon withdrawal beneath the coat.
