Jumping between the trees, Sakamoto calculated in his head how much further he would need to go to reach Kirigakure. He figured it wouldn't be too long now, since he spent quite a bit of time moving and barely rested. He felt slightly hungry, but he knew that on his way back he could stop at a dangoo place and eat some. Suddenly hearing something from behind him, he stopped on a branch of a tree and turned to look behind him "Kiri ANBU, I assume. I have come from Konoha on the behalff of the Hokage with a message to the Mizukage." He said, not seeing his followers yet, but being aware they heard him clearly.
As Sakamoto made his way through the trees, two slender young men appeared behind him. Both wearing a different type of mask, signifying their ANBU status. They continued to follow Sakamoto, without a word, even after he identified their presence. But once he called them out, they ceased using stealth and simply followed Sakamoto. After several more minutes, the trees ended and a thick mist had formed. But going further through that, the mist thinned out and revealed the outer wall of Kirigakure. "Lady Mizukage is at the Office, presently," one of the ANBU finally said, catching up to Sakamoto. "We will escort you there."
Nodding to them, Sakamoto begun following the two ANBU, keeping his own ANBU mask on and making sure to be aware of everything. Hisoka wanted Sakamoto's own report on the status of things inside the village, and he was going to make one as good as he could. He also wanted to ensure no one tried attacking him, but he was fairly certain that being escorted by a couple of the village's ANBU would be more than a good reason for people not to attack him.
The walk across the village was at a casual pace. On this day in particular, Kirigakure wasn't as busy as normal. But there was signs of life everywhere. Never in the main streets, but in the alleys it could be seen that children were playing and having fun. Vendors were shouting advertisements for their products and sometimes people would shout back and call them frauds. But despite the slow walk, the Mizukage Office wasn't very far and the party was there within ten minutes. Once inside, the ANBU merely walked past the lobby toward the staircase. The Mizukage was on the top floor, so they had to walk. But eventually, they stopped at the door, before moving to the side. "She has no further business today, so you are dismissed when she says you may go," the ANBU said again, before motioning toward the door.
"Understood." He said before knocking and opening the door. He closed it quietly behind him and then gave a bow to the woman in front of him "Hello, Mizukage-sama. I'm an ANBU from Konohagakure, and was sent here by the Hokage to deliver a message to you, if you will accept it." He said, and got up from the bow, hoping she will not be as hostile or crazy as most people described the past Mizukages to be.
The short woman sitting behind the desk wore the Mizukage robes, but the hat was nowhere to be seen. She was quiet for a moment, but she smiled after Sakamoto introduced himself. Somewhat. "Konoha, huh," she repeated, her voice sounding as sweet as ever. But that wasn't intentional. "Let us play a guessing game. You've been sent here because... the Hokage wants to have a little get-together with me?" With her naturally kind voice, it almost sounded sarcastic. But even with her smile, she was being serious. "Was I close?"
He nodded before taking out a scroll which was sealed with the Konoha mark "You are very close. The Hokage indeed wishes to meet you in four eyes, and he has the full details of where he wishes to meet and when in this scroll. All I need is for you to give a response if you will accept his request, and if you do, then if the place and time of the meeting is fine, so I can give him a proper reply and then preparations can be made accordingly." Sakamoto explained his job fully, hoping it will make the Mizukage see that he has nothing to hide and thus, make her lose that slightly disturbing kind voice. He was not used to kages sounding that nice, or kind, or sweet.
"Oh?" Rika let out, before accepting the scroll and looking over it. After a moment of silence, her smile returned and she gave Sakamoto the scroll back. "That is fine to me," she said, before opening a drawer on her desk. "But before you go, I have a few questions for you, if you don't mind. I guess you don't have to answer the ones you aren't allowed to, I won't cry about it. Is that okay?" Rika had withdrawn a pad of paper and an ink pen from the desk, and now placed them on top of it.
Taking the scroll back, Sakamoto placed it inside his pouch and was about to leave when he heard Rika speak again. She wanted to ask him questions? Seemed a bit odd for him, but since she had no idea who he was, other than being a Konoha ANBU, he figured that as long as he didn't answer any question which could be bad for Konoha then it would be fine "I suppose you can ask me some questions." He said and turned back to face her, not moving from his spot and waiting to see what the first question will be.
Rika closed her eyes and smiled for a moment, before her expression became a bit more serious. "Well, first off... how do you, as in you personally, feel about Kirigakure so far? Is this your first time here? I imagine it is, considering... well... considering who my predecessors were," she asked, sitting upright in her seat and positioning the pen above the first sheet of paper. It was clear she would be writing down his answers.
"Its leaves a much better impression then what I was told it was in the past. It feels quite welcoming and friendly, unlike what I've heard it was with the past Mizukage's." He answered, keeping it short and simple. He didn't want to start boring himself with long answers.
The Mizukage didn't start writing anything down, oddly enough. "I see. That is what I would hope for, after all. Trust me, the mess it used to be... You probably wouldn't want to be here today if it was anyone else behind this desk," Rika said with a chuckle, though for a brief moment the memory of Fumiyo passed through her mind. Her eyes seemed to flash with hatred for a split-second, before returning to their normal shade of green. "Here's a little more personal of a question I guess... how do you feel about Lord Hokage?"
Sakamoto did not move upon hearing the question. In fact, he stopped breathing for a few seconds. Obviously every ANBU knows the kage they serve a bit more close and personal, but he still thought that was a question that is a bit rude to ask. If he said anything bad about the Hokage, then that could be seen bad in Hisoka's eyes, not to mention Meisa. If he praised him too much, he could appear to be pro-Konoha, which was also something he wished to avoid in front of the Mizukage. Deciding on an answer, he looked in the direction of Rika through his ANBU mask "I feel that Lord Hokage is doing his job very well, much like how I believe each of the Kiri ANBU would say the same about you." He said in a calm tone.
Before writing anything, Rika began chuckling. After she composed herself, she wrote down what Sakamoto said. "Funny you should mention that," she said with a grin, before the grin faded away into something more sad. "I have found that most actually fear me, despite my efforts against that. It is difficult to help people recover from... my predecessor's damage." With that out, she let out a sigh, as if she just confessed something that had been bothering her. "Next question. How do you feel about Lord Hokage's Assistant? Has she been doing a good job in your eyes?" With this, Rika placed the ink pen above the paper again and glanced up at Sakamoto.
Now she was truly hitting a personal spot in Sakamoto's eyes, but he couldn't show it "She is doing her job in a very fine manner. I believe that the combined thinking of both Lord Hokage and her is what managed to improve Konoha in the way it has." He said, keeping the calm tone in his voice and his sight on Rika. Something about this begun feeling very wrong. What was the Mizukage trying to do here, he wondered.
"I see..." Rika said, writing something down. However, after finishing that, she moved the paper and began writing something down on another, before folding it closed and putting a seal on it. "To make things fair, you can ask me any questions you may have. But first, hand this to the ANBU outside the door once you decide to leave," Rika said, holding the folded paper out over the desk toward Sakamoto. "Don't worry, it won' explode or anything like that."
Taking the folder, Sakamoto stood up and looked at Rika "I only have one question, one which is somewhat personal, and like you told me before, you don't have to answer it, and in fact I would surprised if you did." He said, looking at the folder and then back at her "How does it feel, to be in charge of the village?" He asked in a very polite manner, hoping she won't give him a whole lecture in return if she did decide to answer.
The question seemed to surprise Rika, and it made her silent. It was evident that she was thinking about it. During her silence, she looked over her shoulder. Behind her was a large window that had a panoramic view of Kirigakure. She looked out it for a moment, before her eyes went back to Sakamoto. "It feels... constricting." After a brief pause, she smiled a bit. "But there are a few things that help me manage, and without them I probably could not do this. I'm sure that's how many leaders feel, I suppose." She closed her eyes for a second, and once she opened them the smile was gone and it was back to business. "Is that all?"
"That is it, Mizukage-sama. Thank you for your time, and I will be sure to send your response to Lord Hokage." He said before giving her a short bow, going to the door and then walking out of it, doing this as quietly as he could. He approached one of the two ANBU that stood out of the door and gave them the folder "This is from the Mizukage." He said, and after the ANBU would take it, Sakamoto would procceed to leave the village as quickly as he can, aiming to head back and reach Konohagakure as quickly as he can.
Once the door closed behind Sakamoto, Rika relaxed into her seat more. She spared a brief glance down toward the notes she wrote, before looking back up at the door. His answers were just as I predicted, she thought to herself, now standing up and facing the window. Nothing in them to give away his identity. However, he did hesitate before answering both questions. This could be that he was thinking how to word them, or it could be... I need more proof. But in the mean time... As she could see Sakamoto through the window, running across the village, the door behind her opened and the ANBU walked in. "The ANBU handed us the letter without tampering with it," the ANBU said. But Rika's expression didn't change. "I see... Now, your next orders are..."
