Name: Oni
Identity: Bruce Kato (Public figure, although very few know his super villain identity)
City of Operation: Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina
Appearance: Bruce stands at 5 foot 11 and has a fit physique. He can often be seen wearing a flashy tailor made suit, or at the least something as or more expensive. His most notable feature is his missing left eye, which he covers with an eye patch. Much of his appearance stays the same whilst in his villain persona, but he bears the mask of a demon and exchanges his eye patch for a more flashy one instead. His body is littered with tattoos.
Age: 41
Gender: Male
Superpowers: Bruce has gained the power of an enhanced body all around. While he is 41, he is much more physically able than any young professional athlete and can outrun even Usain Bolt.
Skills/ Talents: Bruce is a talented businessman and an even more talented wine connoisseur. But enough about that, you want to hear about his combat skills don't you?
His talent lies in his swords. While he is proficient in the use of firearms, his swords combined with his enhanced perception result in a man able to stop a speeding bullet using only a sword. Along with this, he is skilled in the martial art of Jeet Kune Do.
Equipment: What does your character normally carry? Weapons, supplies, communications equipment, armor, vehicles, that sort of thing. For mystical or high-tech stuff, please refer to the superpowers rule in terms of what it can and can't do.
- Two family swords kept on his right hip.
- One Colt m1911 pistol.
- A bullet proof vest underneath his suit.
- Drives a Rolls Royce when in civilian wear, and a Ducati RR when in villain wear
Weaknesses:
While able to deflect bullets and whatnot, this only really applies to single shots. If he were to be surrounded by a group of men who all shot machine guns at him he would be in as much trouble as a normal person in this situation. Along with this, he takes great effort to make sure his identity does not get discovered, and any obstruction of this must be destroyed.
Psyche: Bruce is a cold and calculating man, capable of killing a stranger and not feeling any semblance of guilt. He has no time for the disrespectful, but will keep good care of his allies until they either betray or are of no use to him. His one rule is that he'd never kill an animal or a child. He tries to prevent children from being affected by his killings but, of course, it does not always work out for the best.
History:
Bruce is the son of a wealthy Yakuza mob boss and a rather bewildered American teenager who came to Japan on holiday. Fear not though, as this isn't the dark tale of how, Bruce was brought up by a single mother, struggling to get by. In fact, his father and mother married funnily enough.
He grew up learning all his father knew. Being trained to take the mantle of a Yakuza mob boss after his father inevitably passed on. His early life was surrounded by violence, drug deals and the human slave trade. However, as interested as he was in his father's job and the exciting life of a Yakuza mobster, he was also extremely interested in his mother's occupation. She had a degree in business, and ran a lot of the store fronts that the Yakuza used to hide their drug labs. He took a great interest in business studies, and graduated from a local university with a degree in the subject.
He worked for his father in a rather high up position for many years after graduating. Molding him into the ruthless and cunning man he is today. As he grew though, he became more and more fearful of old age and the inevitable death that would follow it. He funnelled thousands of funds into researching immortality and the preservation of the human body. This was when he stumbled across a certain professor's work. Ezra Stanton Powell. He had a makeshift team of scientists research and experiment with the work, but ultimately it proved too difficult for them to understand.
Bruce contacted, Powell, offering him vast sums of money in exchange for him to help him work on his immortality serum. He was turned down, with Powell arguing that it was inhumane and could have disastrous side effects. Furious, Bruce began funnelling more and more money into the project before eventually the serum was complete. Bruce injected himself with the serum and felt the change overnight. He could run faster, lift more and see further than ever before. He destroyed all but 4 of the remaining copies of the serum, fearing that others would use it to get the better of him.
Bruce in his late 20s when his father died. He took over the operation and began expanding not only the Yakuza operation, but his horizons. He started a small weapons company, which grew and grew until he was finally expanding overseas. The company now encompasses not only a weapons chain, but a supermarket and a music production company. Of course, his Yakuza side has always been alluded to by the press and whatnot, but he distances his public identity from it so well that nothing could ever be linked back to him.
Of course, there are always the witnesses or ex-Yakuza members. They are dealt with in the same way that market competitors or rowdy senators are dealt with. By sword and gun. Bruce's super villain identity, Oni was created so that he could personally deal with any who oppose him, along with adding a spice of excitement to his life. Of course, this drew the attention of, Ezra Powell, who has clashed with both Oni and Bruce multiple times, whether it be in court or on the battlefield.
