Rick kept his cool with Renzo, but every fiber of his being was begging for one thing; to get him alone in an interrogation room with faulty equipment. In that situation there was no doubt in his mind that Kevin Mach would show up. In that case Renzo would be spending the next 6 months learning how to eat solid food again. All that being said Rick had to take it all in stride with an "aww shucks" look on his face the whole time.

Seeing how he treated Lia also made Rick wanna punch his lights out. She was the brains in the operation be there no doubt, but there was more to her than anyone else realized. Rick was learning fast that without Lia this whole operation was ripe for a take over. Which made Rick wonder if the operation merge with Yakuza was more of a Lia idea, or something to make sure that if she was out of the way Renzo wouldn't screw it up? Lots of questions to be asked, and not a lot of answers...yet.

Rick walked over to Lia and said, "I think I could handle the paperwork now. This way once I come to work tomorrow I can get right down to business. I'll spend the rest of the day getting settled into my new apartment as well. Most of my stuff arrived as I was coming in here this morning, so all that's left is to set up shop as it were. Frankly I hate unpacking and setting up a kitchen."

Rick nodded and said, "Thank you for the promotion Miss Barriello. I won't let you down. Now in terms of your brother he's..." Rick shook his head and said "Well let's just say there are a lot more guys like him back home then here. Fancy boys from L-A, New York, and DC think they know more than all of us who live in the area and work in the field. I've been called worse ma'am you don't need to say anything else about him. Besides he is what he is. He's the public face the company. Brash and charismatic while you are certainly the one makes the company go. If I was going into a major negotiations you're the one I'm picking ten times out of ten."

The elevator arrived and Rick said, "Shall we take care of business, and I'll be on my way. I suspect you get more important things to do than play office tour guide to the redneck from the south."

Rick boarded the elevator and awaited Lia to join him.

Name: Kevin West

Nicknames: “KW” “West” (although some call him “Westie” he hates that one)

Rank: Detective

Age: 28

Occupation: Detective/ (Audio, Video, Computer expert)

Years On: 5 (3 as a Detective)

Place of Birth: Pittsburgh, Pa

Skills: Kevin is a more then capable detective. With a keen sense of observation and when called upon knows how to handle a firearm. His real skills lie in the realm of electronics. Whether it is pulling a voice off of an audio recording for vocal print, unscrambling video, pulling up a deleted file off of a hard drive, or hacking into a system Kevin is one of, if not then he is, the best on the force. Many at City Hall have said they are grateful Kevin works for them, otherwise he could be very dangerous in terms of the damages his skills could do.

Personality & History: Kevin is what one might call a “giant pain in the ass.” He is very detailed oriented and has his own peculiar ways about him, but they NEVER interfere with his working on a case. All of that being said Kevin is liked and respected by his peers, because they know he can deliver to them what they need and when they need it. Kevin doesn’t say a whole lot but will occasionally slip in a sarcastic remark from time to time, and when a case is done likes to hang out with the crew at O’Shaunessy’s Irish Bar.

Kevin was born and raised in Pittsburgh by a single mother and is the youngest of four kids. His father was a construction worker who died in a building accident. His mother, Hannah, was a nurse who didn’t always have time to spend with her children. Kevin’s older brother Sam and older sister Erica were busy with their own pursuits in athletics and music trying to earn scholarships. So that meant that Kevin was primarily taken care of by his 13 year old sister Catherine. Catherine didn’t always have a lot of time for Kevin so she would let him play on her old lap-top. However the more he played on the lap-top the more Kevin understood how it worked. Soon he was taking apart the lap-top and putting it back together, and in many cases adding software or making it run even better than before.
Kevin knew he had a gift for computers and media software when he hacked into the elementary school’s mainframe and changed grades for himself and his friends. Kevin also liked playing with audio and video files. He knew he had a gift when he took the audio of his principal’s speech in junior high and made it sound like he was declaring war on the Governor; while the Governor was in attendance!

Though Kevin had a habit for mischief it was never malicious and not intended to hurt anyone. He knew right from wrong and was very smart. Kevin graduated as Valedictorian and was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh. While he was there he took a job working as a dispatcher for Campus Security on weekend nights, and became fascinated with police work. Kevin eventually switched his major from Computer Science to Criminal Justice and excelled at the detective aspects of his work.

When it was time for Kevin to graduate he applied for the Police Academy in Boston, because he felt it was time for him to explore the world outside of Pittsburgh. Also because his girlfriend at the time was getting ready to go to law school at Harvard. Kevin at first found the physical rigors of the academy a bit much, but in time he proved to be up to the task. What really impressed his instructors was his intellect and his repeated skills in media equipment.

Upon his graduation Kevin applied for and was accepted by the Boston Police Department. Kevin’s first two years on the force were uneventful and Kevin began to question if he made the right choice. That was until Deputy Mayor Byerson was murdered. Kevin was at the crime scene when they came across a busted lap-top. CSI was doubtful they could pull anything off of it, but Kevin said he could. The lead tech agreed to give Kevin his shot, and Kevin not only salvaged the lap-top but he was able to use it to find key pieces of evidence. This impressed the entire Boston PD and the people at City Hall. Soon after Kevin was looked to for his expertise and within a matter of months he was promoted to Detective. Kevin is a Detective and goes out into the field but when a computer or media issue arises he is the first person called upon.

Extra: Kevin was engaged but it was broken off by his choice (she was cheating on him), he likes Springsteen, Football, and of course video games.
I've posted all I can for the moment.
And with that mine has been sent in.
Like i'm not gonna be interested.

I sat in my office going over monthly reports of arrests and kills. Some of the arrests are semi-justifiable muggings, arson, and murders among the lower classes over stupid arguments okay I can accept those arrests. However there are others that I see and could never in a million years justify. If it wasn't for the fact that we are the law I would say at least 75% of these arrests would be thrown out of court. Now that we have so many arrests to deal with and the prisons becoming over-crowded this could only mean one thing; a lot of on the spot executions will be happening in the next couple of months. Those who are in power will now be pushing even harder for on the spot executions of suspected Revolution leaders. Life is about to get very ugly very fast.

My secretary buzzed my office and I said, "Yes Brenda."

She replied, "Excuse the interruption Prefect Wallace, but there's a Mario DeCarlo at the sub-desk who is demanding to see you. Something about several officers under your command who have eaten at his establishment and not paid. He is only willing to speak with you and is causing quite a scene sir."

Mario coming here is not about unpaid bills, and him coming here means that something is up across the board. I replied, "All-right Brenda tell the sub-desk to keep Mr. DeCarlo there I will meet with him. I'll escort him away from the building so he's not making anymore of a scene."

I made my way down to the sub-desk as quickly as I could. Mario being here is a huge risk and not to mention ask for me by name could raise some suspicions as well if I don't deal with this a Prefect, and not as someone who is like a son to him.

I approached the sub-desk area where Mario was giving the performance of a lifetime. Acting the part of the outraged businessman to the hilt. Even I'm almost convinced as he screams in Italian, but I know Mario well enough that if he was truly upset he'd be yelling in English. This way no one would misunderstood what he was saying.

I said, "Mr. DeCarlo I'm Prefect Wallace. I understand you have some issues with some of those under my command. Come let's talk about this outside." I escorted Mario outside who was still carrying on and on. I played the "understanding" Prefect who nodded and said, "I see, I Understand, I can see your point of view" that kind of crap.

Once we were far enough from the station he said, "Thanks for seeing me so quickly Martin."

I replied, "You got it Mario. What's on your mind?"

Mario said, "We are preparing for what is for us a major offensive strike. We are planning on overthrowing Eagle Point. We are gathering various resources. I believe that we will soon contact Charles for maps of the area around it. So we can understand the terrain better and possible find other ways. Ellen will be enlisted right away to garner some more resources."

Eagle Point is a minor re-education station in the mountain region of our sector. It's not a major center but overthrowing a re-education center of any size is a big step for us.

I asked, "Where do you need my help?"

Mario replied, "A surprise inspection."

I nodded and said, "Recon the place got it."

Mario replied, "Yes anything you can find out would be of great help to us. I cannot ask you to be a part of this one Marty. The risk to you would be to great."

I said, "Understood my friend. When is this going down?"

Mario replied, "Two weeks so please move quickly."

I nodded and said, "Inspection will be in 3 days."

Mario replied, "Thank you Marty. Here.." He handed me several receipts and said, "Have to make it look good."

I took them and said, "You got it my friend."

Mario left to go back to his diner, and went back to the office where waiting for me was Vice Prefect Harrison. I sat down at my desk and made sure he saw the receipts.

He asked, "Everything all-right?"

I replied, "Oh yeah taken care of. I doubt Mr. DeCarlo will be giving us any more trouble."

Harrison asked, "What did you do?"

I replied, "Oh told him if he had a problem that maybe we could arrange for a garrison unit to be stationed across from his shop. He gave these to me and just walked away mumbling something about my mother."

Harrison nodded and replied, "Well done Wallace. Keep up the good work."

I said, "Thank you sir."
I got an idea and I should have something sometime tomorrow. It will reveal what the Revolution has in mind for their upcoming offensive, and Martin plays a key role.
Things were starting to pick up. Everyone was going through rituals and the nervous energy was on a steady climb. Nicky was letting the sounds guys know about their less than outstanding work. Nicky was perfectionist but that kind of drive and focus was something that the band fed off of. She was the lead singer the voice that people recognized in the band. She was putting herself out there and had every right to expect things to be just so. KJ at first didn't know how someone would last like that in a band, and now KJ wondered how they could ever survive without her.

Drake did the usual pre-game flirt with Ana. Yeah KJ wanted to keep an eye out for Ana, but Drake flirted with every girl at some point and besides if he was gonna do something he would've done it by now. Drake though when it was show time was all business, and ready to give everything he had to the crowd and expected no less from everyone in the band.

KJ heard James' question as well and replied, "I say we live for the moment and live to the fullest." James was a solid musician and when he improvised that was when James was at his best sometimes. He'd do something in a concert that none of them had heard, and it would take the song to another level. James was rarely off his game when he improvised, and he never did at the expense of the others.

Russell and Valerie the two violinists in the band. If you had told KJ that there would be even one violinist in this band much less two; he would've asked what you were smoking and could he have some. However the two of them complemented one another very nicely and helped give the band a unique sound. It seemed like to KJ sometimes that they had a friendly rivalry, but it never was personal and never came at the expense of the band. One was the cool voice of reason and the other could be a bit bossy at times. Frankly KJ wouldn't have it any other way.

Yes this unique gathering KJ viewed as his family, and he would do anything for any of them at anytime. How long would this family go on and stay together? KJ had no clue, but one thing was for sure KJ was gonna enjoy this ride as long as he could. Now it was time for his own thing as he walked over to Ana. KJ looked her straight in the eye and said while smiling at her, "It's time to hit it hard and fast and leave 'em crying for more." Out of all the people in the band KJ felt closest to Ana mainly because they were not only the same age, but they spent a lot of time together outside of the band. Yeah mainly it was at work, but Ana was someone KJ felt like he could trust. Not to mention she had an outgoing personality, and that personality helped KJ lighten up and show a bit more of his every now and then.

KJ plugged "Thunder" into an amp and began tuning it up. He sat on a stool that faced house left stage right and looked out at the vacant club. It didn't matter to KJ if there were a thousand there that night or a few dozen. This was the place where he and his band mates showed what they were made of.

Not a lot of band mates came up to KJ while he was tuning up, and if they did they said nothing more than "hey" or "hi." KJ would acknowledge them with a nod and a "sup." This was a time when he and Thunder would firm up their connection to one another. KJ would treat this instrument like it was the Holy Grail and he was a Knight who had just found it. This was more than just a musical instrument to him. To KJ this was an extension of himself his being his soul. The others in the band cared for their instruments and KJ respected them for that, because it was this way of looking at how they felt about their instruments was how they felt about what they did. By nature KJ didn't say too much, but he lived for that moment after they were introduced, the crowd came to life, and Nicky would count it out, "1,2,3,4!" In that moment KJ would feel enough energy and spark in him that could light up the Vegas strip. KJ admired and respected his band mates to the highest degree, and to him they were all the family he had.

There was one person in the band that he really liked and that was Ana. He had worked at the restaurant owned by her parents for the last two years washing dishes. KJ kind of took it upon himself to watch over Ana and made sure that no one hurt her. KJ also admired Ana because she was one helluva drummer, and insisted on pulling her own weight when it came to her equipment. Seeing her take her seat behind that kit always made KJ smile.

Once Thunder was tuned and KJ felt in sync with it he set it on his stand. KJ went over into a darkened corner of the backstage area as was his custom. He knelt down said a silent prayer and crossed himself. Once he was done he sprung up as though he had been shot out of a cannon, threw a few punches like he was entering the ring, and said, "All-right let's rock it!" KJ made his way back to the stage area ready to lay it down with Thunder.
