Shockwave:

Much passed in the day since the little creature visited Shockwave's laboratory. He had finished his modifications to the power source the Insecticons brought to him, allowing it to withstand demands much higher than it could otherwise put out. His tinkering proved that it was adequate to power a standard Ground Bridge, but he had yet to test it further. He would not risk damaging the power generator unless he had a replacement on standby. Unfortunately, this would mean he would have to create one from scratch. For that purpose, he sent his two subordinates to locate industrial waste disposal facility to pilfer supplies from.

Meanwhile, he was continuing to tinker with the controls of the portal. While he wanted to tackle trans-mensional travel immediately, he first needed to get the Space Bridge back to a fully operational status. Until the Insecticons returned, he would be forced to work on other projects. It was quite a bothersome inconvenience, but wasting time complaining about it would be illogical.

It was quite some time later that his subordinates returned. By then he had finished calibrating the controls of the Ground Bridge, and had completed some minor improvements to the phase converter. While they had not returned with much, they did bring back a damaged power supply. That particular item was most appreciated, as it took less time to repair a damaged part than it did to rebuild one from scratch.

Working for the remainder of the night, he finally had his backup power source. While it wasn't as powerful as the one currently installed on his portal (probably an older model) it would work as an adequate substitute. He could now focus on getting his Ground Bridge to a Space Bridge status.

Turning to the control panel, he activated the machine. A rumbling sound could be heard as the motors powered the device. Pressing more switches, a greenish sphere began to form in the center of the device. It quickly grew to form a circle, with wisps of energy arcing out at random intervals. Moments later a series of blue circles appeared within the portal, creating what looked like the edging for a tunnel. The portal was short range, incapable of transporting things beyond the distance of the planet's surface. Increasing the power would allow it to transport things beyond the local atmosphere, which would then categorize it as a Space bridge.

As he increased the power level, the portal changed from greenish white to a more bluish hue. The Space bridge worked ... at least for now. He would have to see how long it could maintain the portal. With no warnings appearing on the control panel, it appeared to have worked. With a functioning Space bridge, he could now focus his energy on improving it to allow trans-dimensional travel.
never said who's heads would roll ... evil laugh inserted here
@Absolis

Reason: To kick ass, no one really cares who, so long as heads fly.

I'm using my remaining good thumb. it's slower, but less painful. That said, I still use my right thumb by instinct every now and then.
