BTW, what power do mages have actually?

Differs a lot from person to person, but mages generally have the ability to cast spells and conjure spirits. The power level varies, but an important ability that most mages and shaman have is that of assensing, basically looking into the astral plane. In the astral plane you can see people's auras (and learn a lot from looking at them), spirits that may be invisible in the physical world, basically anything that's alive and/or magical in some way lights up. It's both really useful for spotting enemies and it allows the mage or shaman to get an idea of the magical security in, say, a certain corporation's building ;)

There's a few different ways to fill the gap left by Old Soul. I think getting a new mage or shaman would be the best idea. These days, any corp worth their salt has a wagemage on site, so our team is gonna need a spellslinger of our own to dispel mana barriers, get rid of any guard spirits, stop a combat mage from dishing out his manabolt, you get the idea. If anyone wants to play a mage, be my guest, otherwise I'm happy to either play a mage myself or find someone to create an Awakened character.

Of course, there's also the completely different, much easier option of simply agreeing that Koch-Huang has little to no magical security.

What do you guys think?

oh man, that would be great. So far it's just L and a bunch of Meatheads. (no offense to said meatheads). It'd be great for L to have someone to talk to.

So far the plan is having my character be an old adventurer/treasure hunter who heard the stories about the Old Gods and decided to learn more from the cults in Turizi. Initially just from a desire for treasure and excitement, but eventually he became so interested and obsessed that he settled in Turizi to study the Old Gods. And now, well, the stories may just have turned out to be true ;) should be a lot of fun to play.
Okay, I give in. This sounds too good to miss—I'll think up a character. Looks like L's got the magic covered, so I'll go with a mundane character. A scholar, maybe.
Ouch. No rush.
Yup, it's a real shame. I told Roman they're welcome back, though, so you never know.

Great post, Blue Demon!
Aaand posted! Seems like Red Five hasn't figured out that Lei-Ne's an adept yet. Do some research, Red!
"I'm also curious about what we need to fix. I like to see myself as a problemsolver of sorts."

She smirked. Weren't they all problemsolvers in their own right? She approached the table, adjusted her AR gloves.

"Right, I'm guessing I've got the best grasp of the data among us, so I'll go point on this." She tapped the table a few times to bring up the blueprints. "Let's deal with the main job first: snatching the data. Like Mr. J said, it's pretty unlikely that we're gonna be able to reach the schematics from the Matrix, which means that either we bring me to the server or we find a way to access it from the outside, which means dragging a fiberoptic cable or getting a repeater drone to jack in, something like that. That all depends on stuff like security measures and how the building looks today, which is probably nothing like it does on this old thing." Red gestured at the blueprint, which displayed a tiny September 2070 in the corner.

"We're gonna need some up to date intel in order to find McIntosh and the drone—if it's still in one piece—anyway, so I say we make that our priority one: blueprints, schematics, security intel, you get it. I can look around on the 'Trix, but it doesn't seem likely that it'll be readily available, so I might have to dig for a bit. I suggest we do some physical recon, get some eyes on the building itself. And our girl here,"—she nodded towards Lei-Ne—"might be able to pull some strings, talk to some friends. Maybe even make some new ones. I bet there's a corp slave in an after-hours bar somewhere who wouldn't mind some pleasant company."

She stepped back and looked them all over, her expression serious: "I'm sure we can all agree that it'd be best to deal as little lead as possible. I think we should make stealth a factor. And as soon as the fraggin' mage shows up, we need to talk magical security. Where is he, anyway?"
Speak of the devil. The table bleeped, and a message appeared. She scanned it.

"Drek. Mage is out. Left the city real fast last night. Wouldn't be surprised if Mr. J's sending some muscle his way soon.

"Okay, that adds another task to our job. We need to find a way to deal with Koch-Huang's MagiSec. Hire another mage, get somebody to scope the place astrally, something. I don't know how these things work, and as far as I know, none of you guys are Awakened, am I right?"
Good suggestions. I'll get on it.
Not bad at all! Celebrated International Women's Day on Saturday, otherwise nothing interesting.

I've got a post ready, just need to figure out how to fit in Roman's leaving.
Hey chummers! How was everyone's weekend?
