Silence had fallen around the table. This was Red Five's least favorite part of a job: the awkward silence as everyone's mind churned before anyone actually began brainstorming. In the end, she decided she needed some air.

"I might know someone to take Old Soul's place. Not too experienced either, but she's got talent. I'm gonna go talk to her." She looked at Lei-Ne. "I'll send you the public list of employees."

She walked down the corridor (taking a moment to appreciate her own figure in the feeds still visible to her) and discreetly left the building. Auburn had fully woken now, and the bustle of mostly honest work was a pleasant backdrop as she sent a message to a young shaman she knew.

Mouse. red5 here. I'm working a job and our mage quit. We need someone for magisec. Can we meet?

Her agent chirped that it had finished compiling a list of the publicly visible employees. With a quick mental command she sent it back to the node in their new safehouse.
Shit, shit, shit, the Guild's back up! I stopped checking it out when it was down for a couple days so I didn't notice. Really sorry guys.

I'll post right this second, I've had a post to introduce Mouse lying around for a while now :D
Henry was giving Max trouble about his sword. He couldn't blame her. Even in the sparsely populated coffee shop, it was a wonder nobody had called the police. At least most of the others tried to keep some semblance of a low profile. Concealed firearms, big coats—Finnegan himself had done away with dusty tomes and digitized his own collection of spell books. Add to that the combined knowledge of the Internet, and there was no need to drag books around. A phone and a gun did much these days.

Of course, Finnegan suspected Max was just bloody vain. The sword, his eagerness to ride shotgun, it was right obvious that the lad liked being the leader and acting the part. Maybe a wee bit too much.

Cassandra looked slightly out of it. He gave her arm a light squeeze. "Don't take it personally, love," he murmured to her. "Henry doesn't like anybody much. Hides it behind 'er tough feminist façade. Her bite's not quite as bad as her bark. If you're human, that is."

Hey, they're not my views. It's not fun unless her opinions are a bit skewed or senseless. Not everyone thinks things like this on both sides. Henry is focused on women rising up and becoming equal with men in every way so as a skewed version of a feminist, she doesn't want woman to be meek because she wants the gender as a whole to have a voice. Yes, I agree it's not logical, but that's the fun of it.

Yeah, I figured it might be something like that. I've met a few of those, it totally makes sense as a character concept. Just don't want people in the thread thinking that's how feminism works ^_^

Not really hates...she just doesn't like how timid Cassandra is because of her feminist views. She hates any woman that conforms to stereotypical chauvinistic views of females and thus she dislikes Cassandra because she feels as if Cassandra is encouraging these opinions of women.

That's not very feminist :<
No worries ^_^

I'll get a hold of Ollum and write a post to get Mouse into the game in the meantime.
Excellent. I've subscribed to the thread ♥
Right then, the Dark Lord himself. No wonder Max was eager to get going. In the years Finnegan had spent ridding the world of various supernatural threats—both alone and on Max's team—he'd encountered a tremendous amount of bad stuff. Vampires, insane covens, ghouls, but he'd never had to deal with the boss from bloody downstairs. This was big.

He finished his coffee as the others got up. Outside the coffee shop, he put his hand on Jack's shoulder.

"Hold up, lad."

Taking a few steps to bring himself in front of Jack, Finnegan began to pull back his left coat sleeve. Several tattoos adorned his forearm.

"I'll bet you're twisting yer head sideways trying to find a way to bind something whose blood doesn't pump. I think I might be able to help you." He pointed to a circular design close to his wrist. "Got this some years ago. Prevents a couple different types of reanimation once I kick th'bucket. Needless to say, we're not gonna tattoo the bloody thing, but you might be able to scale it up, hold it in place 'til we figure everything out. I'll text ye a picture of it on the road."

He looked up and raised his voice slightly to address everyone: "Now, does someone want to give an old man a lift to our destination?"

Works for me. She is a new no-name shadow runner, who is getting strapped for cash. So she'd be an obvious choice if you needed a magic user on short notice.

Sweet!

I leave it up to whoever wants to post next to introduce Mouse, then, if they're up for it. Otherwise I'll just have Red Five pull some strings.

(On a side note, I am ridiculously hung over. Ouch.)
Great to see a post, BD! Glad we haven't lost you ;)

cunfuzzler, excellent character. Let's find a way to get Mouse on the team. Maybe one of the other characters know about her?
