Current Anyone know how LARP works? Like, are there clubs? Is it Skyped? Is it pre-written and then acted, or just done in the moment? Very confused by the concept...

RP is basically playing pretend on the playground, but fancily, if you think about it...

I got sunburned on July 4th, and it STILL hasn't healed. Can't I just buy a new face somewhere and call it good?

Bio

Hullo! I'm MushyKetchup, a 15-year-old girl from the southern U.S. I'm an aspiring journalist, as well as a tap dancer, actress, dramaturg, and terrible fiction author. At the moment, I'm sticking to free and casual RPs, as I'm fairly new to the concept of forum RP (although I've RPed in chatrooms and games with multiple people for years). I'm most comfortable with RPs from the past 500 years, sci-fi RPs, fantasy RPs, and realistic RPs. Feel free to shoot me a message for a chat or an invitation to a RP. I'm in the Central Time Zone, by the way. If you wanna know more, I have an ask.fm right here that I'm dying to use.

Want a friend or someone to RP with? These are some great people to check out.
@CanisMajoris2 is a newer member to the site, but has roleplayed for many years. He's casual to advanced.
@Tombprince is a great person to know who will happily go the extra mile to interact with other characters in a RP. Typically does casual.
@Dragonmancer is a fantastic guy whose passion is forum RP, but who will also RP in other places. He's mostly advanced.
@Wade Wilson is a talented (and EXTREMELY British) writer who enjoys hanging out in the spam and off-topic conversation forums when not RPing. She does casual and advanced.
@DisguisedDemon is a user who has been my GM a few times. She's very dedicated to her RPs, has fantastic ideas, and drives stories along like they're monster trucks. Sticks to free and casual.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to hear from you!

P.S. If you're curious why I picked this username, it's one I invented years ago to use on all of my online accounts. It's gender-neutral and doesn't suggest age or appearance, and let's face it - would you rather have MushyKetchup or sexygal69?

@UnknownScarlet4 It's not as fun if they aren't persistent, though! -forced grin-

Interacting with @Tombprince

"Lovely name choice, Finny! And such a wonderful rhyme to pair it with. I'm impressed you could speak it all with such volume." The newly-christened Ellanore turned around just to miss the size changes Fin had undertaken and peeped at herself in a nearby mirror, examining the new features she would have to accept as her own. "I didn't mean to imply you would injure me," she explained as she stared, gently patting her pocket. "I meant that perhaps someone we discover could misread our good-natured intentions and attempt to hurt us, and I know I haven't the slightest instruction in physical defense. But I suppose we will take our risks." Her fingers wove together, and she bounced on her heels. "Since we will be riding on a horse, you may try grabbing onto a rein instead of my pocket. The rein will be steadier." Under her breath, she murmured, "If only you could get big enough to sit on its back with me."

"Oh well." The former princess tiptoed out of the room and down a seemingly infinite spiral of stairs, which soaked up her feet in their thick carpets with each step she took. "I'm ever so excited for this journey. Just imagine all the unique characters we shall meet, and perhaps some handsome men as well..." She lightly poked Fin's stomach with a playful grin. "Are there any male fairies, Finny? Perhaps I could keep an eye out for one to accommodate a pocket-sized sapphire maiden such as yourself." Aspen didn't believe she would have the luck to find a man for herself, but Fin had more luck in her bones. She was far more talented and didn't already have more than 15 husbands to her name, either. Living vicariously was still living, after all.

Ellanore's thought process was interrupted by her arrival at the stables, a well-maintained oak structure that reeked of that natural animal stench. Her lips curled slightly in disgust, and she quickly freed a drab brown Arabian stallion and led him outside. She scooted her hips on top, careful to not crush Fin under her body. She leaned over to Fin and spoke through the dress's fabric. "Finny, shall you hold onto the reins or stay in my pocket? Now is your chance to escape the pocket if you wish it."
And there Nicolette was. Dripping in ivory lace and iridescent pearls, from the curls in her hair to the train trailing behind her feet. What a dress it was! Too bad she couldn't savour its grandeur. She eyed the bouquet anxiously and began to wonder if "love at first sight" truly existed. Perhaps she would find out once she made her first steps down the aisle. Which of the three men would it be? she asked herself. None of them looking particularly disgusting, thankfully enough, but she didn't notice any particularly outstanding qualities in any of them, except that two had a 'lumberjack' vibe to them and the other could have been a character straight from an anime.

Her train of thought was abruptly interrupted by the loud tones of the organ. The tiny crowd of psychologists, friends, and family rose to their feet, heads tilted to the doorway where she was to appear. With one graceful, sweeping motion, she pressed the doors open, allowed herself her first few steps inside, and stared wide-eyed at her future spouse.

Avary.
"Well," Aspen sighed while waltzing down the corridor, "in basic terms, the Grimm brothers have yet to release their book of tales to the queen, so she has created a law that for every day the book remains missing, she shall kill an innocent from each of the realms. To me, upon arriving in her kingdom, it seemed like the people didn't agree with her policy too strongly. So to ease their nerves and give her a report of the situation, we will be travelling to the woods." As she spoke, her hair grew longer and darker until it reached a shiny auburn, eyes lightening to a bright green-grey. Her fingers darkened while they tugged a chamber door shut, and methodically, she worked the current dress off her body with Fin propped up the other direction.

"I believe I might snag a horse while I'm at it," the Princess continued as she changed. "I will ride on its back to keep the 'peasant' image realistic. What should my name be, Fin? I simply cannot find it in me to settle on one or another. Feel free to write it down if you must; I've my magnifying glass." Sparks of electricity danced up her spine as she envisioned it; riding free through the woodlands without the burdens of her skirts or husbands or even household chores. She hadn't discovered how deep her longing for freedom was until it was right beneath her fingertips, practically in the palms of her hands. She was sure Fin would enjoy the space to fly about and the minimal responsibilities as well - by now, Aspen had grown aware of Fin's memory issues, and having little responsibilities could make this impediment less obvious and less debilitating. Still, as her mind worked through possible issues and the logic required for the journey, she couldn't help wondering if perhaps bandits lived in the forests, though she had never heard of any residing there, so dangerously close to the queen's palaces. But Fin could defend her, right? Surely with her magic, she would have the abilities to fight off any creature, no matter the size. "Fin," she began in a curious tone, "can you fight? In a physical manner, that is?"
Nicolette seated herself in the room. She picked a seat on the end of the row, not wanting to associate too closely with the other girls due to fear and anxiety. She knew she'd say something ridiculously stupid if she was offered the chance, anyway. And so it begins, she finally thought as the door closed behind the three females.
"Understood, Aspen?" The Princess quickly scanned her hostess's eyes and expression before nodding her head in agreement. Her fingers gently stroked the length of Fin's back comfortingly. "Understood, Your Highness," Aspen replied. "I'm rather restless, so I don't believe I'll delay unless you wish me to. Do allow me a moment to change into some lighter commoner's clothes, though." She rose to her feet, knees popping rather loudly and hips feeling achy and creaky. On light feet, she padded across the sitting room along the plush ebony carpets and through the door.

As soon as she got out of sight, she parted her skirts and fished around for the pocket containing Fin, whom she swiftly freed from her confines. "Sorry to squish you up in there, Finny, but I worried the queen might have been frightened by your appearance," she murmured softly, cupping the fairy between two dainty palms. "How much of our exchange could you hear? We shan't remain in the palaces for much longer. We will have a bit of an adventure with the queen's commonfolk." She beamed brightly and rocked onto her toes, bouncing gently on her heels to release some of the energy building up beneath all of her skirts and skin. Aspen had rarely encountered anyone not considered an aristocrat, and even in those instances, such people were usually timid young soldiers or one of her insufferable husbands. But not all people must be that way when born without riches, right? she reasoned with herself. She was sure that the woods would hold wonderful humans and perhaps a few other species, too.

And so what if she was caught? The whole world respected the kingdom her parents maintained. They were mediators, not fire-starters, and all from the surrounding countries knew it. The Princess would be respected and admired, and perhaps she would be so talented as to convince the commonwealth of the so-called "evil" queen's true goodness. Nothing but good could come of this adventure, she was sure of it. Nothing but good would come of her mission.
@MushyKetchup
Yeah i know what you mean. Have you though about making another character as well so you not tied to just one.

I have, but in the past, when I attempt multiple characters, neither turns out too well, and they end up rather 2D. If you'd like, I can try again, as it's been a while, but I don't trust myself too much.

Aspen's eyes lifted to meet the queen's, and the natural smile that had permanently formed on her face broadened. And there she was - Her Majesty, in all her glory, powerful, graceful, and quite cordial as well, she mentally remarked. "Oh, no, the castle is magnificent!" Aspen reassured her. "I was just lost in my thoughts, that's all." She gathered her nest of blankets to one side of the sofa, allowing the queen to take a place on the other end. "I assure you, your palace is magnificent, and the service is amazing, much better than anything I could find at home. Everything here is quite a blessing, truly. I just do enjoy being in my head sometimes, mulling things over." She gently placed her teacup on a saucer and set them both on a gothic mahogany side table. A hand planted on the pocket where a certain fairy godmother may be located so as to prevent her from escaping. She also offered the queen a second teacup and the teapot before speaking again.

"I promise, my intent is not to complain as I say this," Aspen began in a cautious tone, "but I am worried your latest policy regarding the Grimm brothers and the return of their book may be stirring the people. While I traveled here to meet you, I noticed some... some type of energy that I haven't before; a pulsing energy that screamed of defiance. I intend to travel to the wood soon or perhaps to the nearest town, just to ensure I'm not misreading the people's activity, but I fear this policy could blow up in your-" She paused and shook her head. "-our faces. I am just a princess, though, so I do understand if you feel you know more than I in these matters." She said a quick mental prayer for mercy. She knew there was quite a risk in the words she was uttering, but she couldn't find it in her to stop their coming out.
@Eris Is there any limit to how many posts you can make before other people post as well? The queen directly addressed my char, and I don't want to ignore her, but I also don't want to leave the other members of the RP lost and behind. :)
