I am a huge fan of Kotaro Uchikoshi's work on the 999 series.
Having said that, I wonder if enough people would be interested in something similar, with different puzzles and as interactive an environment as can be managed on a play-by-post forum.
These players will have to be trustworthy. They will have to be diligent. They will have to bear with the fact that this RP might never, ever happen and this idea is but an embryo only beginning to form.
They might have to accept that I'll be a semi-active GM as compared to a hyperactive one. They will have to be okay with this, if it happens. They will also have to be able to write a coherent paragraph, at least, putting this RP in the casual bracket as compared to free or advanced. I myself probably will not be playing a character, for fear of things being too obvious, but I will definitely not write a little bit, if I can help it. This must be okay.
And they must accept that I might require help from a co-GM, so be willing to listen for their directions as well. Rest assured, it will be someone who knows best. Whose identity will be revealed if this idea ever sets itself in motion.

As for Julia being fully human...I think it isn't a problem for now, the races, since we've balanced them out well enough. Elric and James are human, after all, and Julia and Trafalgar are half. We have a lovely little gnome as well, and an adorably pale little demon girl. Not to mention, the little vampire who's a big help to Remmy, and let's not forget our beastly pair who haven't even met yet, but should since one is the hunter and one is the hunted, our beloved half-orc and newest addition, the rather polite gnoll I'm going to call Ark because his full name is a crazy mouthful.
And then there are Corinne and Leara as elves, so that mustn't be a problem...hm. Stroking of beard.
...and speaking of beards, we might have a dwarf as a welcomed new addition, eh Bing?
Looking forward to it. Make him badass!

Apart from horrible analogies, I think you really have some good ideas, and it'd be wonderful to see you around, working on your GM skills at the same time as keeping our spirits up. I don't know about you, but I'm glad this isn't a very stagnant, or sterile, OOC. Where nobody talks out of character ever except for leaving to do something. And even when they do, it sounds like a business contract.
...I'm in no position of power, but something bugs me about Leara's CS. Something I cannot place. I think Wyvern can run through it and (do what he does best:) pick out potential holes that, when filled, make your character much more whole.
I for one want more detail about her bio! 112 is a long time to be livin'!
Though I'm...just a little hypocritical myself, in saying that...err. Mine isn't too great either, and my character is well over 90.

I actually thought for a handful of seconds that the elven hunter that got the poor gnoll was Corinne, and he has the wrong perception of her being heartless because she might have been just as pissed about wasting an arrow, but didn't want to kill anything not game, or that she couldn't sell, so even wounding an innocent individual, even if he was beast-like, would kind of suck.
