As a response to your edits: jesus christ, I didn't mean a car literally! I meant some sort of rugged artillery carrier that is protected by infantry with guns to shoot hostile wildlife that would be all rights be scared shitless by the deafening sound of heavy artillery. Also, bigger round does not necessarily mean "necessary to kill big things". Why you can't have a fast round that penetrates and then explodes. You don't need a large cartridge when you have mushrooming lead or just kaboom, but even if you do want something big F*CKING EIGHTY MILLIMETERS IS REDICULOUS! The biggest round the US uses in a machinegun is the 30x173 on the GAU-8, and that is meant to kill T-90s, which I f*cking bet are better armored than some wild animal. Also, dear god in heaven how long will the round be? The 30x172 is already a really long round by necessity, so imagine an 80mm one! Motherfucker would be half a meter long!
1: I could have thought that through more X3 2: fair point, overkill against the wild life =3 but what if the Mecha Tank is going up against another Mecha Tank, the reason Tank is in the name is because their built like a Tank, well, not in shape but you know what I mean, also (pretty sure) The reason why modern day Tanks fire 120mm or 125mm projectiles is because that is what you need to defeat modern tank armor and do damage once inside. the same goes for a Mecha Tank, also they could use said 80mm rounds to shoot down flying enemies =3 granted they'd have to be stationary to aim properly to shoot down flying targets thus making themselves a target so.... yeah, I didn't think it through entirely, as I fail to do with other things....
And he is right NicNack, it is kinda of looking like you did this to to be OP as fuck. Everything needs to be toned down about 1000%
.... to be fair, my NS was based of a previous rp where it was accepted without hesitation and even then I was considered underpowered against almost all the others in the rp.... it was... difficult... that aside~, I must tone it down more! *goes to edit*
If something gets past the planetary defense cannon, what is stopping the people with nuke-tipped rockets blowing them out of the fucking skies? They would do it for a fraction of the cost, just as well or even better than the cannons. I guess their people like being bled dry by oppressively high taxes that are wasted on extravagance. You sound like Mitt Romney saying we need to tax the people to make more battleships. "Lets make something worse than the much cheaper more elegant versions for no reason other than to wave our dicks around"
*scratches chin with narrowed eye's* you know, I wouldn't be against the idea of switching out the planetary defense cannons for hand held nuclear tipped warhead launchers if it didn't radiate the atmosphere...
A planetary defense cannon is f*cking retarded, when you can have man-portable anti-orbit weapons that fire nuclear-tipped warheads from the roof of buildings to keep low orbit clear of hostiles. Instead, your nation decided to spend a trillion billion dollars on worthless anti-ship tanks that will miss a retarded % of the time, because of the lack of course correction. Also, good luck shooting lasers underwater. That'll go well. The f*ck do those tubes go to on the shotgun? They're not even direct impingement, they're just bullshit.
1: the planetary defense cannons are made in case something gets past the orbital defense cannons, also, they don't have hand held nuclear-tipped warhead launchers, on that not nukes in atmosphere are bad, you know radiation and what not. =3 2: it's their money they's gonna spend it how they want it X3 and they have super computing A.I.'s for the anti-ship tanks for course correction =3 3: ... lasers don't work under water? I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't, after all the only example I have of lasers working under water is from starwars XD 4: they just there because meh, they make it look different =3 *edit
Why is your artillery piece so f*cking massive when you could get the gun on a car-pulled trailer and move it around for a trillion dollars left. JESUS CHRIST 80MM MINIGUNS? that is f*cking deafening! It is a f*cking sound weapon at that point, and if those f*cking beasts can stand upright while shooting them, I don't even want to f*cking KNOW how strong they are.
1: having it on a car pulled trailer would cost less, but there are big animals on alien worlds that can rush a small car with an artillery trailer and crush it.. 2: .... really big animals X3
*nervously fidgeting* so... I edited the NS... *looks up slowly* .... any better?... *lowers head slightly*
7 by 13 meter rounds? Let's assume that humans are all 2 meters high because fuck it I don't have time to do math with those weird misplaced periods (Seriously, those go at the end of sentences, not in-between numbers. God). If we assume this, then these rounds are 3 (Plus numbers behind one of those misplaced period things) people wide and 6 (Plus numbers behind one of those misplaced period things) people long. If we assume that a standard story is three meters high, we find that these rounds are 2 (Plus numbers behind one of those misplaced period things) stories wide and 4 (Plus numbers behind one of those misplaced period things) stories high. In other words, that's f*cking ridiculous. I mean, I've made mistakes, but I never had a ship 27 kilometers long with 6,000 cannons that could each destroy a planet.
*is making changes to NS as this is typed*
Just, tone it down a bit. Take a stern gander at the other player applications for an approximate idea on where the setting sits in terms of power scale.
I did, and some have anti-matter beams that can cut clean through entire ships DX *sniff* .... r-right... I'll see what I can do...
YOU DON'T F*CKING SAY. Gosh, who would have though in a modern combat setting giant cumbersome beasts incapable of taking cover, slow as balls and not particularly maneuverable, would be sh*tty at modern combat. I say don't downsize them - let them learn the hard way that ever since like 1850 their sh*tty f*cking giant bodies are entirely worthless at fighting things with modern weapons.,
....*lowers head in shame*
Now initially, I had legitimate reason to believe that Duck, Wilson and Keyguyperson had 0 sense of scale, but NacNak not only takes the cake, but he has successfully managed to leave the planet with it. I mean, Jesus Christ:
*tears begin to well up*
NacNack, I have a point of order. You say your f*cking giant battleship warrior thing has a really big gun that shoots things real fast. However, I don't think you understand just how big the things are, and how fast they are going. I roughly crunched the numbers, so accuracy may not be the best, but I came out with: 1.0189e^15 tonnes of TNT. Over one PETATONNE OF TNT. In joules that is 4.2629e^24J, or 4 yottajoules. That is a f*cking silly amount of energy. That is 10 times the amount of energy present on earth in the form of Uranium 238. It is in the same ballpark as the TOTAL AMOUNT OF SUNLIGHT THAT HITS THE EARTH EACH YEAR. It is 100 times the amount of energy present in all the fossil fuels in the world today. So, to summarize: f*cking god f*cking damn you have made the most f*cking stupid gun ever. You would need 23682777.78 kilograms of antimatter [in anti-hydrogen] per shot [not to mention the equivalent amount of real-hydrogen to react with]. It would f*ck ANYTHING in the eye. That gun would destroy planets. Like, atomize them. Forever. What the f*ck, why would anyone build that ever. Also, it is f*cking impossible to get that much energy, and that much energy is pointless.
yeaaaaaah.... I didn't think things through... also, i'm not good at mathematics like that.... *nervously scratches back on neck* I-I could get rid of how fast the rounds go, to just the normal speed things are shot out of cannons *cowers slightly with a nervous expression*
Not to be overly critical of you either Nak Nak but no being can survive ( or keep fighting after) getting hit by an AT missile or stepping on a mine, no matter how big it is. Just the kinetic energy of getting hit by a missile in flight would be enough to take off limbs, break bone or lodge itself in your body. The explosion afterward ( given that your soft body would even initate the primer) would be most likely a shaped charge, shooting molten whatever ( copper in RL cases) into whatever it hits. Thats why when Tanks like the infamous M1A2 Abrams gets hit by an RPG there is a small hole where the molten medal had bored into the tank ( Killing everything inside mind you). Even with shields, no matter how good they are, you will still feel every bit of that kinetic energy and be subject to what I like to call " the bulletproof vest effect". If you have ever seen someone take a rifle caliber round while wearing plates then you will notice that he doesn't just stand there and take the round to keep on fighting like a bad ass. You are knocked on your ass or picked up and thrown ( depending on how big the round is and how fast it is going). In this RP we are talking weaponized railgun speeds ( which ASTA can prob quote) but id imagine is pretty damn fast, with rounds that are comparable 50BMGs, 338 Lapua and 20mm shells. The same weaponized railguns in space would launch shells the size of Volkswagens or houses at blinding ( really scary) speeds while being paired with armor piercing, High explosive or even shaped charge warheads. Unless your ship has 20ft or some crazy amount of armor or some crazy shielding ( I still dont agree with the validity of ducks) this shell can literally turn your ship inside out from end to end. This is adding the effect of plasma weapons ( Burn and melt EVERYTHING), Laser based weapons ( burn and melt EVERRRYTHING, unless your ship is made out of mirrors) and other energy based weapons. No point defense turret will be able to defend against these either, you are not shooting a rail gun slug while its moving, the same with a plasma bolt or laser strike. Even torpedoes are a stretch ( Given Septonian torpedoes are magnetically accelerated), Missiles, drones, fighters, and other ( RELATIVELY) slow moving strikes can be targeted and destroyed by CWIS style point defense though. We are truly using some devastating weapons in space and on the ground, I would hope that everyone realizes this ( If and or when) another war/conflict kicks off.
.... I never really thought of that, it makes sense now, I have to be realistic X3 thanks for that =3 *edit right... one question, what about an artificial intelligence inside a robotic body, would that be able to survive/keep fighting if it got hit with an anti tank missile- wait, forget what I typed, it would most liekly be blown to smithereens now that I think about it, it's less than likely that the A.I. would survive let alone be able to keep fighting in it's destroyed body X3
oooooh.... oh.... right, don't let me stop you =3
