Mulad stands at a height of six foot tall. A slim, but effective, muscular build is packed into his frame. He wears no armor, instead of wearing it he favors a simple blue tunic over top brown trousers. He does wear an elegant cape that is standard for any Grand Wizard. He keeps his blonde hair short and his facial hair to a minimum. His dark blue eyes complement the blue ensemble he wears. Underneath all his clothes he has numerous tattoos over his chest and back with rumors stating that the ink used in the designs are actually conduits for magic use, though Mulad always shoots down these rumors with a joke.


Personality:

Mulad at first glance appears to be a gentle young soul who has issues with social interactions. He has an issue making eye contact for extended periods of time, has a hard time remembering what he wants to say to strangers, and overall tends to keep to himself when traveling. Though that is not to say he is never alert to what is going on. Mulad will often listen in to the conversations of his traveling companions and make observations on what he hears; which he records in his journal. Mulad is one of the brightest minds around, due in no small part to the many years of tutelage he received under the Grand Wizards and their demanding studies. Contrary to his outward demeanor of a social recluse, Mulad is a cold and calculating individual whose primary focus is on his mission to protect the realm from Demonic incursions. While he has failed in his post to prevent it, he is no doubt prepared to end it.

Mulad fancies games of skill such as chess, and will often bring a set with him where ever he travels. While he is never forward enough to challenge, he will readily accept the challenge and will show no mercy as he defeats his opponents in ten turns or less; he could beat most in less but Mulad has a tendency to give people hope before he destroys them.

History:

Mulad never talks about his early history. No one knows where he is from, who his parents were or much of his backstory; knowing only that he appeared one day as a baby in a basket at the doors of the Grand Spiral Towers of the Court of Wizards. Immediately sensing the latent talent for magic in him, the Grand Wizard took him in and had the servants raise him until he was of age to begin training. As soon as he was given a book to read, he dove into the pages with a rampant hunger for knowledge that the Wizards had not seen in quite some time. He conquered every book before him, from the extinct races that once walked the land to the various demonic forces he would one day fight every now again as they tried to enter the realm. Not only did he show an aptitude for learning, the Wizards were pleased to find that he could execute the knowledge he had gained in a variety of ways.

Soon, at the age of eleven, Mulad was taken and taught how to use magic. The training remains a secret, and those seven years not one recorded notice of Mulad appeared. When he emerged again on the eve of his eighteenth birthday, he was already appointed the title of Grand Wizard, one of the youngest to ever attain the title. He was given the top room of one of the spirals with the only mission of detecting and preventing demonic invasions. He was given charge of an elite unit of Wizards called the Purifiers, whom he would send out to both find and fight any demonic incursion he detected.

Though outside the Court of Wizards, questions have been asked of Mulad. Old Kings remembering the young scholar wizard venturing out with his Purifiers when they themselves were young children, history books with his name in it a century before he supposedly arrived at the Court of Wizards with drawings that match his face, and countless other everyday civilians claiming they met the man when they were young kids. Rumors have picked up with frequency over the past year that Mulad is not what he appears to be, a rumor that the court fights to this day.

Rules for magic:

Magic always has a cost, first and foremost. The more magic weaker you use, the more it will strain your body. Similarly, the more complicated the spell the harder it taxes your body. Like a warrior can train his stamina, a mage can train to increase his "mana" so to speak

Here is a list of both the various enemies we will face, as well as some of the friendlier faces. As well, I will keep the "Things that changed the world" section as we progress. I still plan to add a lot more to this section in the coming days.

Notable Enemies

Notable enemies: Cultists

The cultist, in my experience, are very devoted to bringing the end of the world; for whatever reason that is. They number in the thousands, and are made up of mostly human mages; though there have been reports of dwarf and elven cultists walking amongst their brethren.

Cultist mages:

Coming in various sizes and from numerous different races, the cultist mages would be difficult to track down if not for their very ornate and decorated robes that cover them from head to toe. The main color of their robe is a solid black color with a gold trip around the neck, shoulders and across the waist area which, unsurprisingly, gives off a regal yet uncomfortable vibe to most who look upon them. Whilst they are not the most skilled in melee combat, they make up for it with a working understanding of magic and with sheer numbers.

Cultist Summoner:

Dressed in a similar setup as the mages, with an addition of a black cloak with golden hues around the edges, these summoners are dangerous foes. Cultist Summoners are able to turn a corpse into a mindless husk or summon a demonic entity through use of charms, amongst the various other tricks they are able to pull off. In addition to the summoner magic, most of these soldiers have a better understanding of elemental magic than their basic mage counterparts. These are very dangerous enemies who should be approached with caution.

Notable enemies: Demonic creatures

Demonic beasts are creatures that appear in many different forms, but all share the same nightmare inducing look. From massive wolf like beasts with fur as dark as the nights sky to the smaller minotaur's, we have faced a number of different variants to know that it is not much alike amongst them, and how to kill them.

Demonic Hound:

Standing at a height of six feet tall and with a girth of nearly five feet out, these hulking beasts take a tremendous amount of punishment to bring down while possessing supernatural speed. Thankfully, these beasts are extremely rare thus far, but the longer the breach remains the more I suspect will slip into the realm.

Minotaur:

Half human, half oxen, these beasts were a common site a thousand years ago; though their reign of terror ended when the last Minotaur was slain. It seems the demonic forces have given them a new chance as they now pour through into our realm. As strong as five men, and with hide more durable than the strongest armor, these beasts take some skill to take down. Thankfully, magic is one weakness. Their time in the underworld has corrupted their appearance, losing their crimson red fur completely and stripping some flesh from their bodies.

Knights of the Underworld –

The first monsters out of the breach, these towering humanoid creatures are the finest warriors the Realm of the Dead have to offer; and they've had all of eternity to hone their skills. Appearing as if a creature of pure elemental fire worse heavy, barbarian style armor, these creatures are a walking inferno encased in sturdy armor. Magic appeared ineffective at first, and all attempts at physical confrontations were met with a swift end to the soldier. Advise caution and avoid at all cost.

Skeleton army

From the breach, these old bones came forth. Long since removed from even remembering what being alive felt like, these creatures move silently and ruthlessly across the battle field. They are slower, weaker and easily dispatched of than a living soldier, but the dead far outnumber the living.

Appearance & Background

The Mûl Enuri were a mercenary band of Mûl elves that initially helped the races of the world against The Mad King. They were the most ferocious of fighters utilizing their unique skills on the front lines or sabotaging the Mad King's efforts behind enemy lines, acting as assassins and counter-insurgents. Usually they consisted of a cell of five fighters: one mage, two archers, and three swords men. These cells were considered an entire force unto themselves due to how effective they were, and it was in large part, due to their efforts that The Mad King was pushed back to the mountain as the insurgents behind enemy lines were constantly sabotaging supply lines, assassinating key officers, intercepting messages, and so on.

However, when the dragon blew out of the mountain, the Mûl Enuri found themselves an opportunity for power and using ancient magic made a blood pact with the dragon and the Mad King both. This dark magic thus cursed the Mûl Enuri turning their skin oily black, their hair white, and they became the servants and guardians of the dragon. The curse also gave all the Mûl Enuri the ability to cast powerful dark and necromantic magic and enchanced their combat abilities by several fold.

Luckily for the races of the world, only a few cells of the Mûl Enuri surved the curse.

Powers and Abilities

The Mûl Enuri are incredibly powerful foes, versed in dark magic, incredibly skilled in physical combat, and supremely fast. It is said the darkness in their souls are so potent that they are anathema to life, corrupting any and all purity around them; their aura of corruption potent enough to turn the soil they touch into blasted wastelands.

The Mages, along with being at the head of the Cultist Wizards, have within their arsenal incredibly powerful necromantic and dark magic, able to resurrect and assemble entire armies of the dead into their service and summon hordes of demons beyond the portal.

Then there are the Mûl Enuri warriors. Generals and Officers of the Mad King's armies, they carry swords of pure darkness within its own mist of corruption, when drawn transforms and changes the land around them into a horrific, grisly environment that resemble the demonic realm. They are arguably the finest warriors within the Mad King's armies and every foe they slay comes back instantaneously to fight against those they once called allies.

This is just a small group I have had time to record in my journal, when I know more I will send the information back.

Lavas Soldiers:

Thanks in part to the pure riches at the disposal of the Lavas people, the average rank and file member of the Lavas army is better equipped and better trained than any other human army out there. Their armor has a silver color to it, with a blue hue strewn across the edges of the chest plate and with a vibrant sky blue cloak on the back. They are usually found with both a spear and a sword for offense, with a tall tower shield painted in the same sky-blue as their cloaks for defense. In the center of the shield, there is an engraving of a white ship, the symbol of the Lavas nation.
I have noticed that they tend to lack in morale compared to the Firen or the Glamhoth soldiers.

Glamhoth Wall Crushers:

The Wall Crushers from Glamhoth have a reputation that proceeds them. These fearsome warriors are some of the most skilled and most savage of all the soldiers from the Glamhoth confederation. Each soldier is well armored and well equipped for their task of breaking shield walls, with some carrying heavy two handed axes that could split even the mighty tower shields of the Lavas people. Often times when wounded, these soldiers enter a trance-like state known to the outside world as the "Blood lust". While in this state, their tolerance for pain is increased while the speed at which they move and their overall reflexes are improved as a whole.
I have personably seen this bloodlust in the early parts of the battle. It is as advertised.

Firen Shock Soldiers:

The most feared and well-trained unit at the disposal of any human nation are the Firen Shock Soldiers. At a young age, recruiters often scour the countryside for poor families who are ill-prepared to take care of their young children. These recruiters often give the parents a small lump sum of money in exchange for the kid, and then take the children to the mountaintop city of Kiasa. Kisa is a famous city in and outside the Firen realm, as the warriors produced from there are the things of legend. In battle, these soldiers are as fast and agile as an elven soldier while being as ruthless and ferocious as a Glamhoth wall breaker. They are also the best-equipped soldiers in the Firen arsenal, with must being issued a long spear and a Xiphos, with some carrying javelins as well. Their armor is a light weight, but sturdy design with chainmail underneath a simple steel cuirasses.

The training, however, has been known to claim the life of over three-quarters of all who have started and as such the ranks of the Firen Shock, Soldiers is limited. Make no mistake, however, as the mere sight of a small squad of these soldiers is enough to cause most general to surrender on the spot.

Firen Man at arms:

The average rank and file soldier of the Firen people. Boasting decent quality in all aspects of a soldier, this army is well equipped to handle most situations with some degree of efficiency.

Notable Elves and their armies:

Lebethron Foot soldiers:

Boasting both effective and stylish armor, the Leberthron Foot soldiers are a fierce some force that many hope to never face is combat. Owing to their hundreds of years worth of training, a Lebethron is the master of the battlefield. Their biggest weakness is their lack of numbers, though that has not stopped them from defeating armies ten times their size.

Mûl Sword company:

A group of Mûl decided to band together over a hundred years ago formed the now infamous mercenary company. As skilled in combat as most Lebethorn Foot Soldiers but twice as vicious, the Mûl Sword company is an effective fighting force in any war. Their major weakness, like most elves, is their lack of numbers with only four hundred soldiers under their employment. Though through clever tactics, and a bit of savagery, the Mûl are not ones to be messed with.

Andrann Mages:

Andrann Mages are as effective in combat as in other purposes, such as adding magical effects to weapons and armor. The vast majority of the Andrann population is magic capable so the Andrann Mages act as their foot soldiers. Trained heavily in both melee combat and magic, these soldiers fight with a unique fighting style all their own.

Andrann Elemental Archers:

Combining magic with arrowheads are some of the few things these archers are capable of. The effects of which are not to be laughed at. From consuming whole squads in a firestorm to freezing sections of an area, making those encased in ice susceptible to blunt attacks and hard to walk on as a whole. A full volley from there archers is enough to turn the tide in any battle, but it appears as the special metal used in making their arrow heads is hard enough to find.

Anfangrim Dragon Slayers:

The Dragon Slayers are only dragon killing machines in name only, but they are still some of the most well trained and battle hardened soldiers in the realm. Constant warfare waged over their treasure filled depths with the Goblins and their kind have led to these soldiers boasting excellent reflexes, anticipation, and a killer instinct for when to strike.

In this section I will be putting events, both current as we write and historical as per our Character Sheets. The more things we accomplish, the longer this list grows!

"The war that I have warned the realm of has finally arrived, and nobody not even you, my fellow wizards, heeded my advice. I hope the Spiral Towers is ready for the coming darkness.

I was the one that noticed the signs that a war was coming. I felt the disturbance of demonic magic piercing into our realm a year ago, faint at first but to the trained mind all too clear. As the weeks progressed it soon grew in both power and scale. Then the villagers started to disappear into the night a few months after that. It was at this point I sent out my recon team, who within a week found a mass grave filled with hundreds of dead humans, all drained of their blood. I immediately sent out ravens to the Lords and the Ladies of the realm, advising them of what was to come.

I told them that the Dark Crusade was a distraction from the real threat; I pleaded with them to prepare their cities for the demons that were to come. I warned them of the age of darkness that was about to fall upon them. Two days ago, I watched as demonic beasts swept through the lines of soldiers, casting them aside as if they were nothing. I watched as the dragon emerged from the mountain that our ancestors buried it in and melted all that challenged it. I watched in horror. I warned them, I warned them all, and now our realm is all but lost.

The Lords and the Ladies of the realm dismissed me, and now they will burn in oblivion forever unless we succeed in one last desperate mission.

Even in the darkest of nights, light still prevails. I know the location, far to the north where the frozen mountains meet the Sea of Ice, of the site the religious have long argued that was the home for all life in the beginning; where the gods created us all. The canyon of the gods is where I now ride to. The journey will take me a month to complete No soul has ever returned from entering the canyon, and those that have observed it from afar say that it is filled with nightmarish monsters that stalk the grounds within. Our salvation, our future, lies in this canyon.

One week ago I sent the message out to those fated to help me on my journey. At first glance, they may appear to be every bit the danger that they are; with the threat of violence and possibility of death at the end of every argument that they start amongst themselves. Little does this group know that they and they alone are the key to victory over evil; I pray I can guide them to the light before they start killing each other.

If you do not get a second message from me in one weeks' time, we have failed. You know what you must do in that event."

Human Races

Firen

The most numerous of the humans, the Firen pride themselves on their ability to talk their way out of any conflict while being able to back up any words with action. They are different in most physical traits, yet they all are equal under their devotion to the God's as well as their King. Though they suffered many defeats during the battle the Firen people still can boast about having the largest army in all the land.

Glamhoth


The humans of the north are called Glamhoth, and they pride themselves on battle and raids. They are considered by outsiders to be a barbaric race of human; who are only found fighting, eating, drinking and making love to pass the time. The truth is much more complicated. They place little value on the life of an outsider, and their strict religious codes grant them the right to challenge those who believe in the new gods to a duel, with death a perfectly acceptable outcome. This is not to say that they are without kindness, compassion, and understanding. Among their kin, they are a friendly and generous race. With each sharing what they have to those in need, and each celebrating the life and death of their friends with drinks and boastful tales of their exploits in battle. Even though they view outsiders with a cautious, and often aggressive eye, they treat every last one of their kin with an air of respect and kindness. If one were to gain the trust of just one Glamhoth soldier, they too will often be allowed to share in this kinder side.

Lavas

The Lavas folk are the most prosperous of all the human races. They are the master shipbuilders, sailors and traders that claim home to most of the south coast, and many islands that dot the sea. Their ships are fast, and their soldiers well trained in the art of naval warfare. Money has corrupted many in this nation, with many thinking their lust for gold is worse than that of a Dwarven King; valuing coin and lavish parties to any other need. For with coin, they can buy food, and at these parties, they can gain favor, and with favor, they can advance in the rigid social system of the Lavas. They like to play the Grand Game, where people's life and fortune are put on the line in a test of wit and charisma. Grand Cleric Orion said it best when he said: “I'd rather deal with an angry Glamhoth warrior than a friendly Lavas noble, for at least the Glamhoth can be made to see reason!”

Elevn Races

Lebethron

The Elves of the eastern woods are known as the Lebethron, a race of Elves who claim on the woods have stretched back for as long as recorded history has. Many times have both Humans and Dwarves attempted to lay claim to these woods, for the trees are strong and the land plentiful, but each and any time an army invaded they were driven back by a fury of arrows from the top of the trees, from their rear, and from every direction; or so the story goes. The Lebethron are a very long lived people, with most reaching around several hundred years old while some even reach a thousand years in age. As such, they are the considered to be the keepers of history, with their libraries long sought after by scholars from the human races.

Mûl
The Mûl are the Elves who either left their ancestral homeland or forced from it. They are forced into a world who's traditions and customs are very strange to these elves. Most Mûl becomes one of two things when they leave their homeland, a sellword where they fight for others or they’re captured and forced into servitude for many of the other races. They are more aggressive than their Lebethron brothers, but also more cunning. They are forced, often from an early age to steal and murder. They make perfect assassins and thieves thanks to their light feet and quick hands.

The half-elves often fall into this race.

Andrann

The Andrann Elves are of the forest and the fortress, Galadhon, to the far west and are some of the most powerful mages in all of the Dalan. The Lebethron Elves once held a great fear of magic and it's uses. Five hundred years ago a law was set up that banned the use of magic and imprisoned those who had the gift. It was only natural, that three hundred years ago, the Great migration occurred. Angry at being abused by their brothers, a large group of mages and their families revolted, breaking their fellow mages out of prison and fled west. It was here they rediscovered the abandoned stronghold of Galadhon and claimed it as their own. They rebuilt it, making the walls stronger with magic infused with each new stone. In the years since the humans from Lavas and Glamhoth have tried to reclaim this great fortress. Each attempt was turned back under a torrent of fire and ice, and with arrows that exploded on contact. Their foot soldiers boast light armor and weapons infused with magical properties.

Anfangrim


The Anfangrim are a rather large tribe of Dwarves who claim hold over the great Iron Bottom Mountains that bisect the land in two. They are a stout and proud people who value a good story almost as much as gold. They spent their days defending their gates against goblins and mining deep into the depths. of the land before retiring back, spending their nights drinking to tales of Dragon Slayers and hidden treasure. Their fortune is only surpassed by those of the Lavas people, and only because their ships carry the Anfangrim trade to other parts. They have a close relation to the Lavas, both understand the power of money. Yet both will often mock each other in public, as the Anfangrim people value combat while the Lavas loves the game.

Hadhodrim

The Hadhodrim are the Dwarves of the Northern range which covers much of the northern barrier of the land. They are not as wealthy as those of the Anfangrim, yet they are much better warriors and inventors. They pride themselves on their craftsmanship, with their swords and armor a sought after commodity. They also pride themselves on new and creative weapons, with rumors of a weapon that sparks fire and roars louder than a liion reaching the other races. They often fight the Glamhoth in the north over the limited resources, yet they keep a close relationship with those barbarians. Often times if a battle was to be fought, the two forces would gather together the night before, eat and drink until they could do so no more, and wish the other side luck in the fight the next morning. Indeed, the conflict has dropped significantly between these two races as they grow closer.

Surface Dwarves

Surface Dwarves are the Dwarves who have, for one reason or another, been forced out of the mountains. The other clans of Dwarves never accept an outsider, so often they are forced into many different criminal enterprises. The Vani is a prime example of a Dwarf combing their effective work structure to a gang, as the Vani have risen to be one of the most dangerous and profitable gangs in the land. While you will not exclusively find surface dwarves as gang members, with many excelling as sell words and bards, it is an accepted fact back in the mountains that most surface dwarves are not to be trusted.

What is our current mission?

Premise

Hello! This is an interest check for the RP As Darkness Fell, a high-casual but grounded attempt at a darker take on the fantasy side of writing. The gist of what has happened is that the Mad King has led a rebellion, one that has driven fear into the heart of hearty men, that has burned the countryside as a whole. The many races of our land banded together to beat the Mad King and came oh-so-close to victory, only to be dashed by the black magic and deceit of the Mad King. A dragon, long since labeled a myth, emerged from its eternal prison and utterly destroyed the army. Further nightmares emerged from the old battlefield, monsters with fangs and claws, that shred through battle lines like a knife through butter.

Our group is heading north, however. Legend speaks of a powerful staff, one used by one of the gods themselves, that has the power to end this threat once and for all. To get there we will need to track through monster infested fields, forests and more that will both test the strength of our characters and their will to save the world as a whole. Failure means the mortal realms gets captured, while success is not guaranteed even with the staff of the God. I do have three races pre-written, each with the sub-races that flesh them out, and ready to go and I am always open to new races.

There will be magic, but it will have resrictions. The goal of the RP is to be one that grows as we do, and expands both the scope and the story with it. If you have a weak magic user at the start that could change by the end!
