Another five or ten minutes passed as Luke carefully worked, fixing and bandaging what he could. Soon enough I was being lifted off of the ground and slowly helped me over to the caves entrance. To be honest, I couldn't see much, I was in a daze as they directed me inside and I immediately felt the cool air of the cave and could hear the distant rush of the waterfall, even though I knew we had to be right beside it.
I nodded slowly and let my head rest back on the rock I was leaning on. Luke worked quickly trying to patch me up so we could all move into the cave before nightfall. I could hear the others talking, discussing our next move. The helicopter was coming in the morning so we'd be out of here soon, we just had to last up until then.
The water, although cooling, stung the cuts on my face and made my bruises throb. All I could do was close my eyes and wait until this was over so that I could sleep.
“Daisy.” I muttered wanting to speak to her as I felt a new pair of hands on me making me wince as they fixed me up. “I wanna say sorry. I’m sorry for being stupid. It’s all my fault.”
I shifted with a wince and raised my hands, taking the water from her. “Thanks.” I said and took a sip slowly before realising how thirsty I actually was. Gasping, I set the bottle down on my lap and noticed I’d almost drunk half of it.
“Right, that’s a good sign.” I heard Luke say as I rested my head back.
“Yeah, that’s exactly what happened to him Penelope. He tripped and fell.” Christy said sarcastically with a roll of her eyes.
Luke helped me sit down on the ground beside a large rock and I leant against it thankfully, closing my eyes in relief.
“Want any help Daisy? I’ve had training in this area.” Luke asked, turning to Daisy.
“Slow pokes!” Penelope called out and I looked over to see her standing up, grabbing her shoes as she did and putting her hand on her hip. “Took ya long enough, I’ve been sitting here forever! Although, I can’t complain, this place is completely wonderful.”
I felt Luke chuckle and shake his head as he helped me along to the pond.
I shook my head. “No. I’m fine, thank you though.” I said glancing at her before I went back to concentrating on where I was placing my feet, not wanting to trip over.
I nodded and slowly scooted across my seat to the edge of the jeep. "Let's go then." I said lowering myself out of the car with a gasp of pain.
Luke was right there and took my arm, slinging it gently over his shoulder taking most of my weight.
After shutting the door, he turned us to face the trees and began walking.
I opened my eyes, looking around groggily before I remembered where we were and what had happened. I pushed myself weakly into a sitting position, wincing as I did so, irritating every inch of my body.
“How far is it?” I muttered not even knowing if anyone would be able to hear me.
Overhearing their conversation, I lifted my head and looked back at Luke. “Is it warm there?” I asked with a half-smile before letting my head drop again. I was cold and sore and soaked from head to toe, never having a chance to dry off properly before the Jaxlor’s grabbed me.
