Unless they are originally written as a trilogy/multi-part movie, most good movies have terrible sequels.
It's mostly all opinionated stuff, Good, Bad, Terrible.
Sure some movies don't need sequels, given there story came to a full close, with no plot hooks, or anyway to write a sequel that makes sense canon wise.
But just because a Movie is Consider, doesn't mean the sequel will be consider Bad.
My opinion in relation is, does the movie call for a sequel, rather then is it a good or bad movie.
I am really going with your trilogy/multi-part movie Idea there, as a way that would make a sequel have a better chance.
If a sequel is written in such a way, it doesn't screw over the first, with Retcons that mess up the main idea, and focus of the story that is a complete repeat, or invalidating the first movie, then I don't have a problem.
Now across there is more then just that to making a movie likable, and something one would watch, but I feel more like I am ranting right now.
