In Depth Physical Description: Husein has got a light brown skin, which he inherit genetically. His body shape is slightly less "fighter pilot-ly" compared to other fighter pilots, but is still well-built enough. When not in duty, Husein tends to wear T-shirts one size bigger than his actual size and cotton trousers, although he sometimes wear jeans that still permit more leg movements. His hair is always cut short, but he tends to keep his beard until his superiors remind him.
Personality: Despite his birth certificate, Husein feels that he is an Emmerian, and not a Yuktobanian. He is rather sensitive about that issue, and he can go mad quickly if anyone disputes his nationality. Husein is someone who dislikes bullies or anyone doing repressive actions very much that he often tries to beat the bully back, and he has told people to beat him back if he ever becomes the bully as a reminder to himself. Although his skills are still below the Emmerian war veterans, he is willing to learn more, particularly from those veterans who had experienced air-to-air combat in first person. He is not the biggest fan of Garuda 1 who doesn't give a chance for both his enemies and his friends for a kill, but he admitted that Garuda 1 will always be written in Emmerian history books.
Husein is someone who always tries to treat people the way he would like to be treated, as long as those people haven't crossed the red line. When dealing with such people, Husein's response varies from pretending that the person does not exist all the way to giving confrontative looks at the first sight. Husein is also known not to apologize for doing something that may hurt people but he believes to be right, and does not forgive people when such people didn't actually believe they've wronged him. Other than that he always apologizes whenever he wronged people and he forgives people rather easily.
Husein's traits during combat still remains to be seen, because he has never fought an actual aerial dogfight. During simulations, though, he has shown himself not to be afraid when facing any kind of opponent as long as he isn't vastly outnumbered. He speaks in the radio just as much as everyone else, but he speaks quicker than many people and often without clear articulation, not to mention the Yuktobanian accent, which leads to other pilots sometimes asking him to repeat his words.
Husein views "conventional" wars as something that can always be prevented, but believes that war in its broad sense - namely the "multidimensional war" is something that is always fought between nations. The role of a standing military is to deter enemies from fighting conventional wars, with fighting the war itself is merely a contingency plan. He thought that the laws and customs of war is to be understood and followed by any single combatant in times of war, and that attempting to circumvent or find a loophole in that law is a war crime in and of itself.
History:
Husein was born in Darina, one of the northernmost major cities in Yuktobania. When he was ten years old, his country was attacked by Osea. The news of Cruik Fortress being conquered by Osea reached Darina and eventually to Husein's family by the word of mouth, which was possibly the most reliable source of news for Yuktobanian citizens. Believing the collapse of Yuktobania to be imminent, Husein's family, along with him, attempted to flee the country across Fuscum Sea toward Emmeria.
Despite having to live in an Emmerian immigrant detention centre until the Circum-Pacific War ends, Husein's family finally tasted freedom for the first time in their lives. They settled in San Loma and then became Emmerian citizens once they have lived in Emmeria for five years. Shortly after they became Emmerian citizens, however, war erupted in the country. Although Husein's home was almost destroyed when the city was occupied by Estovakian forces, the REAF's bravery in liberating the city gave a glimmer of hope for him that Emmeria will prevail, which they did.
Two years later, once he reached military age, he went to the Emmerian Air Force Academy when REAF was on a large recruitment program to replace the casualties it suffered during the Anean Continental War. After graduating from the Academy, he finally served the REAF as a fighter pilot. Being a rookie pilot, however, he had to be happy to fly an outdated, mediocre aircraft like the F-5 instead of a fourth-generation fighter like what he had expected. He believed that this was due to REAF still rebuilding itself in the meantime.
Extra Information: I'm making this character to be "child-friendly". The interpretation is that all NPCs shot down by this character will successfully eject. However, their fates after landing from ejection is not guaranteed under the "child-friendly" policy.
Questions remaining:
1.
Could you explain the difference between nationality, affiliation, and allegiance in better detail? Examples, although not necessary, would be appreciated.2.
The RP starts in 2021, right? Otherwise, DoB will be adjusted accordingly.3.
Could there be defections once the RP takes off?(sorry for adding a fourth, but the answer provides me a follow-up question)
4. Does "same side" mean "on the same country/ military alliance" or does that merely mean "at peace"?
