Mike continued trying to help survivors off of the plane and out of the wreckage. Surrounded by the vast destruction of the airliner debris and personal belongings, Mike began to try to form groups of survivors. Those with minor scrapes, bruises etc he tried to gather into one area. People with broken arms that required a bit more attention would have to go to another area. The deceased bodies would have to be disposed of properly before disease begin to spread. All of those thoughts ran through his head as he re-entered the broken fuselage.

""Does anyone have a knife? Could someone please help me?" he heard from among the wreckage. The voice was clipped with a strong British accent. He began making his way to the gentleman and the woman that he was trying to assist.

"Sir, I don't have a knife but we can get something to help, hang on just a sec." Mike turned quickly and began searching through the debris until he found a thick piece of the window plexiglass. He sprinted back to the man and carefully began cutting the safety belt.

"Howdy y'all, I'm Mike," he said quickly in his southern drawl, "Ma'am we're going to get you out of here in just a moment, hang tight."

Mike worked at cutting through the seatbelt while trying to keep up a conversation. He had learned through past Search & Rescue missions that just talking with another human has a therapeutic response and can help keep them focused. Once the seatbelt was cut he turned to the man beside him, "On the count of three let's link our arms and lift her out of here, there's a small clearing just past the starboard wing we can lay her down and give her a bit of shade."
[img=http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/ad282/rhodes626/RP/City.jpg] In the December of 2012, on the winter solstice, a date prophesied by the Mayans as the end of evolution, a date prophesied by Nostradamus as World’s End, man chose to evolve by the process of natural selection through self-extermination from nuclear fallout. The decade long War on Terror escalated to a series of short events between many warring nations that ravaged the known world on all sides in 24 short hours forcing man into an Exodus that would last 20 years for the chosen survivors, before they could return to the ruins of civilization and start a new era of man. The survivors are the lucky ones, the people that made it to fallout shelters, and those that somehow survived against all odds. The story begins in the year 2032, vaults around the country are opening up and some people, born in the vaults are seeing the sky and sunlight for the first time. Vault 9271 is located in the Ohio River Valley 60 miles west of Pittsburgh in what was known as the Tri-State Area. The area was once known for their coal mining, as well as the fertile soil in the area. As the citizens leave their vault for the first time they are forced to decide whether to stay together and set aside their differences to begin building a town or to go their own way. GM NOTES: • The game is set around the area of Ohio, PA, & West Virginia • No God Modding • There won’t be much in the way of technology or electronic due to massive EMP waves from nuclear blasts • Weapons will have to be made or found there will be a minimal number of weapons in the Vault. • This game is about politics & survival, not everyone is friends • If you are from outside the vault you better have a good back story • If you decide to travel near a "Yellow Zone" you will have some sickness and other problems • Your character will have no idea what is going on in the outside world • When you leave the vault most people will leave to find their families, homes etc there will be less than 50 to begin a new civilization Please use a little common sense with this RP if we work together we can make this story great. Antagonists Plot antagonists first will be nature itself, you will have to survive, create shelter, plant crops etc. because food is running out in the Vault. There will also be raiders from other vaults or just survivors who miraculous survived. Character Sheets Keep in mind if you are coming from the vault you probably would have seen some of the other characters inside the vault. As CS's are posted I challenge you to look over them and PM other players and decide who will work together. I think having this hidden undercurrent will definitely make the RP more interesting. If you are from outside the vault then send me a PM describing how you survived or grew up in the post nuclear world. Name: Age: (Choose carefully anything under 20 means you were born in the vault, 21 - 30 means you were 1 - 10 and may have only a few memories of life before the war) Occupation:(if older 40 it could be doctor lawyer etc whatever you may have been before entering the vault. if you are under 40 you would have been a child entering the vault and would have been trained by those in the vaults and by reading books) Personality:[i] (Are you a leader, town builder, or just a loner)[i] Occupation suggestions for CS's The vault contains the following industries: - Small Medical Clinic - Dentist Office - School - Cafeteria - Janitor Services - Engineering Dept. (Responsible for maintaining the Vault) - Security Dept. (Basically a few individuals who keep the peace) - Eco Dept (Grows small crops In a room with Grow Lights) *If you wish to add some other occupation I am fairly flexible as long as it makes sense. As the GM I will play mostly a GM role setting the scenes, injecting plot points etc. If you have an idea or or suggestions please feel free to PM me.
Thats what I thought I was just curious because Voltus, was flying to Colorado...
I love the idea but would like to know more about what time setting you were beginning in for example the 40's & 50's were way different than the 90's. If it is in the future what kind of current events are occuring now that we would be aware of or watching.
PMed you. I am also in IRC right now, we could chat there if you like.

Mike gathered the last of his belongings scattered around the hotel room and placed them into his backpack. On a whim he grabbed the complimentary tea bags from counter beside the single cup coffee pot. He stepped into the bathroom and picked up his tooth brush, "I almost forgot this," he said. The sound of his voice echoed on the white tiles of the bathroom. He picked up the extra shampoo, and soap off of the sink and threw them in the backpack as well. His personal belongings had already been shipped to the 'Stan that he was headed to.

Glancing into the mirror as he walked out the door his perfectly shaved head and face glistened in the mirror. The tough set of his jaw gave off the perception that he was not someone to be trifled with. As he walked out of his room his movements were a bit stiff, he had woken that morning after having another flashback of being shot down. Some memories are too hard to get over and sadly only get clearer instead of fading in time. His usual routine after the nightmares was to go running. Unfortunately this morning he had tweaked his knee on the treadmill in the hotel's gym.

Mike boarded the plane headed for Europe, he sat near the back of the plane beside the emergency exit. It was an old habit to sit near the back where he could keep an eye on things, and being close to the door always gave him a small amount of comfort. After buckling himself in someone sat down beside him but he paid her no attention. He pulled the book Robinson Crusoe out of his pocket. The well worn pages opened easily and enveloped his attention like an old friend.

The sudden turbulence shook Mike from his book. He put it back into the pocket of his cargo shorts and then held onto the arm rests. The plane shook violently as it descended. The quick loss of altitude caused a pressure in the back of Mike's skull, he forced himself to yawn and pop his ears to clear his head. The voices slowly raised into a loud, frightening crescendo as the plane splintered apart. Years of training kicked in and he instinctively tucked his head forward, he reach to the woman beside him and pulled her head down gently as well. Just as they ducked a chair from first class slammed into the back of plane.

Mike woke still buckled into his seat, he couldn't remember the impact itself, he forced himself to stand his vision was slightly blurry and slowly came into focus. Stepping out into the aisle, he began hollering for survivors and helping them out of the aft fuselage.
I have posted but noticed some inconsistencies with other posts. I was under the impression the plane was leaving the US and went down en route to Europe. Please clarify so I can make sure my post is accurate.

6.Mike joined the military at the age of 17, when he graduated high school. He joined the Navy and became an air crewmen on the SH-60. His job was basically anything and everything in the back of the chopper, from unloading Special Forces, to Search and Rescue. At the age of 29 while on a mission near a middle eastern desert his chopper was shot down. In the ensuing aftermath Mike and the co-pilot were the only survivors. Mike had sustained severe injuries that required a total knee replacement. After recovery he was given an honorable discharge and medically retired from the military. Due to his background he was quickly hired as a security liason to help sneak government officials in and out of war zones. The life he has led has been incredibly difficult especially on his personal life. He has a failed marriage and several broken engagements. He currently is not dating and has decided not to really date seriously anytime soon.

7.He is a quiet leader, preferring to lead by example. When he does speak it is usually something that he has mulled over and feels it is valid to share. After years in the military he tends to be a light sleeper and early riser.

9.He is good with hand to hand combat, was an air crewmen in the Navy, and has been trained to survive in hostile enviroments after being shot down. He is quite adept at identifying edible plants and creating snares to trap small game.
