Salina stepped into the lab that was giving away the pokemon, hoping to fing something she liked. By the time she arrived, most of the pokemon were gone and only one or two eggs remained. She frowned and looked around, "Hmph, I could have swore she would be here!" Salina said, dissapointed in her sister. She walked up to where the pokeballs and other items were layed out. She took a handful of pokeballs and one of each item. "Thanks lady!" Salina said to the woman who stood nearby who had been conversing with the professor a second ago.
Glancing over her shoulder, Acacia looked at the girl who seemed to be addressing her. "Oh, no need to thank me, its my pleasure." she said, standing and picking up the new crate of Pokeballs. "Need some?" she asked, holding the crate towards the girl.
"Sure," the girl snorted, taking another handful and piling the pokeballs into her bag, "You seen my sister lady?"
"Sister? Ah... what does she look like?" Acacia asked, walking over to the other crates and placing the one she held down next to them.
"She has dorky red hair and a Skitty that just wont stop annoying me," Salina said, chuckling at her clever description of Shay.
Blinking, Acacia would laugh out loud a moment later. "I think I know who you are talking about. I saw a girl with an energetic Skitty just a few minutes ago. Was her name.... Shay?"
"Yeah, thats her. She said something about this place earlier and I decided to see what kind of spoils this might bring," Salina's eyes had that sort of crazy look they got when she had no clue what she was talking about. "What's your name? Your the professor's assist-" Salina's facial expression completely changed as she said this, from almost hostile, to welcoming and friendly.
"Apprentice!" Acacia said, cutting the girl off before she could finish the damned word. "There's a difference..." she said, hanging her head. Sighing, she took out her Holo Caster and looked for Shay's face. She intended to let the girl know that her sister was here looking for her. "Do you have her registered on your Holo Caster? If not, it's probably a good idea to do that."
Just as Shay was about to leave the building, her Holocaster let out a slight beeping, Is Acacia calling me already? she thought as she pulled the Tablet-like device from her bag.
Holding up her device at the height of her face, Acacia waited until Shay would accept her call before speaking.
Shay pressed the button to confirm the call and held the Holocaster so that Acacia could see her face, "Hello? Is it working?" She mumbled to the image of Acacia that was before her.
"It's working." she said, laughing and bringing her hand up to cover her mouth. "I can't hear you very well, press the red plus symbol at the bottom to raise the volume."
"Okay!" Shay followed Acacia's instructions then continued, "Whats up? Is something wrong?"
Stepping over so she was standing next to the girl who was looking for Shay, she angled the device over so both of them were visible. "Know this girl?" she asked.
Hey Sis! How are ya? Salina said smiling and waving rapidly at the device.
Oh Arceus! Shay thought, almost saying it aloud. "Uhhhhh...... ummmm..... Yeah.... " Shay was glad Salina wasn't in one of her moods or this could end badly, "She's uhhh.... My sister...."
"Yeah that's what she said. She is looking for you." Acacia said, glancing at the girl and giving a smile. The look on Shay's face was priceless. She wondered if the two sisters got along or not.
"Is something wrong, sissy?" Salina said, deep concern in her face.
"Ummm... Uh... no." Shay said, scared to know what Salina would do if she knew Shay wasn't happy to see her.
Acacia was glancing between the two sisters, a skeptical look on her face. "So... do you guys maybe want to meet up?" she asked, feeling weird about being kind of in the middle of this. Then she suddenly thought of something. "Oh and uh, if you two are free, would you mind helping me with something?"
"Yeah, Come over here Shay!" Yet again smiling like an idiot at the image of Shay.
"Yeah okay... You guys are where Acacia and I met right?" Shay said, a look of dread crossing her face for a second. Noticing this look, Acacia moved away from the girl she was standing by, and spoke only to Shay. "Yeah, i'm still where you met me. But, you get to do something that not a lot of people do. I'll tell you once you get here." she said, waiting for a moment and then ending the call. Looking around her, she noticed the sanctuary was empty, save for a few people, who didn't seem to be staying much longer.
"Scizor!" she called. "You, Wigglytuff and Sylveon go and get the food." she said when her pokemon turned at the sound of her calling it. With a nod, he went along with the others out of the sanctuary. Jellicent and Skarmory made there way over to her, knowing they'd be next to be told to do something. "Can you two tell the rest of the pokemon here that it's time for dinner. Have them all meet here... except for the ones who can't leave the water." she added.
Shay wandered over to where she and Acacia had first met, Skitty on her shoulder, Torchic in tow. When she arrived she saw Salina and Acacia standing just as they had been when the Holocaster had been on. "Hey Acacia! Hi Salina." She said, approaching them and lazily sitting on the ground at their feet.
"Hey where you been?" Salina seemed genuinly curious. She then sat along side her sister and smiled at both her an Acacia. "Where did you get that Torchic?"
"I was about to leave before you showed up, but what's this thing we get to do Acacia?" Shay said brushing off Salina's question.
"Huh..." she mumbled, glancing between the two. "Oh uh... I helped her find the Torchic." she said, addressing the question of Salina. "In a few minutes I need to feed the remaining pokemon. It's always a struggle at meal times, so I would appreciate the help." Pausing, she looked at Shay's sister. "My mother's name was Saline. So-- "
"Cool! We get to feed the Pokemon? Can I pick one out like Shay got to?" Salina said, hoping with all her might. Looking surprised as she wasn't expected to be cut off so suddenly, Acacia was speecless for a moment. "Ah... of course you can pick a pokemon. That's what we want more than anything, to give all the pokemon here a home." Stretching her legs and then her arms, she would sit down on the grass and wait for the pokemon to hurry over in search of food. A small Lillipup came up and pushed his head under her arm, and a Growlithe sat in her lap only a few moments after she got comfortable. Petting them, she hoped at least the other two would get bombarded by little pokemon as well.
A few moments later, her Scizor, Wigglytuff and Sylveon all came over, holding picnic baskets and placing them in front of Acacia, who quickly told all the little pokemon to wait, just as they were about to pounce on the food.
"Any food for the humans, Scizor?"
"Zor." it said, putting another basket down that had some sandwhiches in it.
"Thank you. Now, girls, we get to feed these hungry guys." she said, moving away from the crowd of pokemon and picking up a basket. "Can one of you take this one to the pond and feed the pokemon in there?"
"I'll do it!" Salina said excitedly, scooping up a basket and running off in a random direction. After a bit if wandering she found a pond. She assumed it was the one Acacia talked about. Salina began to throw the pokechow into the water as Magikarp, Feebas, and Goldeen all came up to eat it. Off to her left there was a rustling sound. She dropped her basket and got on all fours, then began to creep up on the bush that was there. Once she had significantly closed the gap between her and the bush, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a pokeball. She held the pokeball in one hand and used the other, aling with her legs to pounce on the bush. A small green orb floated under her where there was once a bush, now crushed by her body weight. "GOTCHYA!" She exclaimed, slamming the pokeball down on the green ball.
Meanwhile by the large group of pokemon that gathered around Shay and Acacia, the latter began to seperate the food for the pokemon, giving them each a bowl to avoid fighting over it. Looking at Shay, she pointed to a Starly that was near the girl. "The bird pokemon like that one and your Torchic like to eat out of hands. Go on and try it." she encouraged.
Shay took some of the pokechow from the baskets and held out her hand with the pokechow in it. The Starly looked at the food then at Shay and began to eat it bit by bit. "Its so cute!" Shay giggled, getting more food for the next pokemon. "Who wants some?" she asked the nearby pokemon. A little Fletchling hopped up to her, "Here you go," She said smiling and extending her hand to the little pokemon, allowing it to eat the food.
Salina was so excited she forgot to finish feeding the water pokemon. She skipped back to Acacia and yelled, "Hey, Guys! Look what I got!" she was running and waving the pokeball in the air at this point. When she got to the huge crowd of pokemon she hit the button on the pokeball and the little green ball materialized and began to float aroung her head, and Salina began to clap and bounce up and down.
Looking up from the pokemon who were now calmly eating, Acacia spotted a familiar pokemon floating around Salina. "Oh, wow. You actually caught Solosis? That one's been here a long time. " she said smiling. "Congrats, to both of you." she turned her head and held her hand out towards her pokemon who were all patiently waiting until the little ones ate first. She handed each of them a bowl of pokechow and was satisfied when they all crowded around her to eat. "Well, now that everyone else is satisfied, would you girls like a sandwich?" she asked, reaching into the basket for her own.
"That sounds delicious! I haven't eaten all day." Shay reached into the last basket and pulled out a sandwitch. Stuffing half of the sandwitch into her mouth she mumbled, "Ish goov! Who mad thish?" She swallowed the sandwitch just after finishing her sentence. Acacia rose her hand, indicating it was her who made them a while ago.
"Wait for meeee!" Salina jumped over the ring of pokemon blocking her from her meal. She landed and rolled grabbing a sandwitch mid-roll. Salina giggled a she sat up and munched on the corner of the sandwitch. "Wow, you make amazing sandwitches Acacia!" She said before chomping off another corner.
"Thank you~" Acacia mumbled with a full mouth. It was funny to think about Sycamore's reaction when he saw there was no sandwich for him. The thought made her giggle, and she made a mental note to prepare some more for the road. On that thought, she decided to start up a conversation with the two. "So are you--" she coughed and cleared her throat. "Excuse me. Are you two going to be travelling together?"
"Of course! Who else would I travel with?" Salina gave a huge smile and put her arm around Shay, who rolled her eyes in responce. Her cheerful personality seemed to be lasting longer than it should have, usually these lasted for 10-20 minutes at most. "Why do you ask?" Salina asked, realizing that Duskull was floating around her head and poking it whilist it flew. "Just curious. So, you two are close?" Acacia prodded, noticing the look on Shay's face, and wanting to do a bit of teasing. "I'm getting the vibe that you two are like myself and the Professor..." she mumbled, mostly to herself.
"Its more of a 'love hate' relationship," Shay whispered to Acacia, her hand between her and her sister. She then looked at her sister and chuckled a bit. Salina looked at Shay and scowled, "Whats so funny?" she asked, a bit annoyed.
"Oh, its nothing, just the look on your face," Shay laughed even harder at the confused face Salina made afterwards, falling on her back and nearly crushing the Fletchling from before. Snorting, Acacia finished her sandwich in silence, letting the two girls do their own thing. A few pokemon came over and brushed up against her, hoping to appeal for some more food, which she obliged. When her pokemon were done eating, she put down her sandwich and stood, reaching onto her belt for their pokeballs. "OK you guys. We'll be leaving tonight so you all need to rest up. Back in your pokeballs." she said, getting nods of approval from her pokemon. One by one she would return her team to their balls and place them on her belt. When she was done with that, she looked around. Holding up a finger to the girls, for them to wait, she walked off to go and find someone.
"Hmmmm..... I wonder where she's going. Do you think that she is going to give us more gifts?" Salina had become cheerful yet again, Shay didn't know what it was but it was like something about Acacia nailed Salina down to one or two emotions in her usual mood swings. "Of course not, she is probably looking for the professor or another "Apprentice" of his." Shay answered to her sister's childish question. She looked around and saw a few pokemon still lingering around them, either searching for scraps that Acacia's pokemon left or begging for more food.
Acacia was looking around, trying to locate one of the other scientists who didn't look very busy. She spotted a woman who was healing some pokemon and knocked on the door to the room before going it. "Hey there Christine, could you heal my pokemon for me?" she asked when she entered the room.
"Of course. Go ahead and put their pokeballs on the machine." the woman said sweetly. When Acacia did what she was told, she stepped away from the machine and leaned against it. "Could you do something for me afterwards?" she asked the woman, who nodded and asked what she needed. Acacia explained to the woman that her and Sycamore would be leaving soon, and wondered if she could handle helping anyone else who wanted to come and pick up a Pokemon for the next few days. Hugging the woman when she agreed, she was almost about to go to her room in the lab when she remembered the two sisters waiting for her with the rest of the pokemon that were eating.
Quickly returning to them, Acacia went and slowly started to pack up the food and bowls from pokemon who were finished eating. Some of them yawned and passed out right where they were, and others returned to their comfortable parts of the sanctuary like the pond or trees to sleep in. After they all were satisfied, Acacia knelt in front of the two sisters. "I'm afraid I'll need to be going soon, so I wanted to say it was nice to meet the both of you."
"Miss Acacia, can Shay and I come too?" Salina said, visually hoping for a yes. She moved from sitting to kneeling. Shay looked over at Salina, disbelief in her eyes. "You cant be serious, she must have professor things to do that we shouldnt be involved in." Acacia looked a little uncomfortable for a moment and she wasn't sure wether to say yes or not. "Uh, well I think--"
"Of course you two can tag along!"
The voice of Sycamore caught her off guard and she jumped at the loud sound. She stood and turned to look at the Professor. "What?" she asked him, not thinking he would have agreed. Sycamore strode over and smiled down at the two girls. "I can always use some extra help in my research, and Acacia always complains about everything."
"Heyy!" Acacia frowned and crossed her arms.
"Aaaand..." he dragged the word out, giving Acacia a look. "It will give them a chance to go to places they normally wouldn't with their pokemon." he said, smiling at them again. Pinching the bridge of her nose, Acacia mumbled in agreement and looked at the girls.
"Wow! That sounds Exciting! I cant wait!" Salina said, excitement gleaming in her eyes. She stood up and assumed a victorious pose. Sycamore chuckled at that. "I like this one." he said, reaching out and placing a hand on her head. "What is your name?" he asked her afterwards, dropping his hand and shifting the pack he had on his shoulder. "Salina, Mister Sycamore. I want to be a pokemon Ranger some day!" Salina answered joyfully.
"Nice to meet you, Salina. You look like you'd makea great Ranger some day. And what about you, young lady?" he asked, looking towards Shay. Acacia suddenly remembered she needed to get her pokemon back from the scientist and also get her things. Excusing herself, she ran off to gather the things she needed.
"My names Shay, so when are we leaving?" Shay asked, she had never expected to be traveling with a professor before, so all this took her by suprise. Sycamore checked his watch and adjusted his collar. He wasn't wearing the long lab coat he usually wore, and he looked ready to leave at that moment. "I think Acacia went to get her things... Why don't we meet out front of the lab in five minutes? There is one more thing I need to do." he suggested.
"Sure! I"ll be sure to be there. Wouldnt want to miss out on an oppertunity to travel with a magnificent professor such as yourself. Salina said, grabbing Shay's sleeve and pulling her toward the exit. "Come on, lets go!" she said still pulling Shay's sleeve.
"Coming," Shay groaned, walking toward the exit with Salina clamped to her sleeve and pokemon in tow.
Glancing over her shoulder, Acacia looked at the girl who seemed to be addressing her. "Oh, no need to thank me, its my pleasure." she said, standing and picking up the new crate of Pokeballs. "Need some?" she asked, holding the crate towards the girl.
