I prefer Casual and Advanced roleplays, as writing paragraphs and multiple characters makes it feel more as if a group is collaborating on an actual novel. One-liners, speed-posting, and the like just doesn't interest me. I don't have a specific genre that I write in, as I tend to jump around them, but I suppose that I tend to lean more towards ones that involve action, drama, and horror. When I write romance, I like for it to be that "slow burn" sort. But in general, I can be interested in just about any genre, as long as the idea of the story itself is appealing to me.

"Don't jinx me!" Parker hissed back down, glaring down at him. He immediately regretted looking down, as the vertigo rushed to his head. One hand, becoming clammy, slipped on the rusted metal of the ladder; barely refraining from letting loose a shriek, both of his arms lashed out in order to wrap around it. As he felt himself become sure of his balance once more, he heaved a sigh. Yes, he would have healed after a few minutes, but that didn't mean he exactly liked the idea of landing on the cement below. And yes, he was barely ten feet in the air, but what if he hit his head? "From now on, just be freaking quiet when I'm trying to do something like this, 'aight?"
Huffing, he continued his ascent--more successfully--until he planted both feet firmly on the rooftop. From up there, he could see the bustling city below. The streetlights flickered, cars shadowed each other as they sped past, and on the neighboring sidewalk, a few pedestrians could be seen stumbling home. He eyed them carefully, but ultimately decided that the middle-aged woman in a parka and the drunken businessmen were not genuine threats tonight. Moving carefully to the edge, he said to Sebastien, "I don't see anything unusual. You still don't sense anything?"
Almost frantically, Parker said imploringly, "Yes, it was my idea, but only for [i]me[i] to be the one out in the open. You may be smarter than me, but I do still have eyes, you know. If they're near, I'll notice just fine." He unzipped the pocket of his coat, taking out the orange bottle of pills. Unscrewing the cap, he knocked out a couple of the blue capsules. "I'm the one who's designed for the whole "getting shot" sort of thing. If I need you, I'll call you up. Otherwise, stay here and be a good boy, okay?" Swallowing the pills, wishing that he had remembered to bring a bottle of water in his haste, he headed towards the ladder. As he got closer, he safely stashed the bottle back into his coat.
Name: Maya Hamilton
Gender: Female
Age: 26
Power: Empathic Perception
Appearance:
Height: 5'3"
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Hair: Dark brown/long
Eye Color: Light brown
Personality: Maya, though quiet, does speak her mind as she pleases; she has a headstrong and stubborn attitude, though she does listen to reason as needed. She can be manipulative, but respects the emotions of those who she cares about; as for her enemies, however, she plays a game of psychological warfare, rather than depending solely on combat.
Biography: From Guatemala, Maya moved to the United States with her mother and younger sister when she was five. With her father absent from her life, her mother taught her to never depend on anyone--even those who you love the most, but to always be one who another can depend on, just to prove the world wrong. After her mother's death when she was twenty-one, she decided to join the Department of External Affairs in order to make her proud, as well as to fund her younger sister's college expenses. Maya herself did not attend college, but did graduate from high school.
It had always been Parker's dream to be a hero; as silly and idealistic as it sounded, he'd always admired the protagonists in those comic books. They always succeeded, no matter the strife that they had to endure, and in the end, everything would be fine once more. Social order would be restored, the guy would get the girl, and everyone but the villain would be just peachy. Possessing such strength, such courage, was what Parker had always aspired for, but on his own, it was impossible. He was just one of those faceless background characters, the nameless taxi driver or waiter, or, even worse, one of those who the villain killed in order to show just how ruthless he was. He didn't really matter. He was just there to amplify the superhero's persona.
He was just average.
Finally, though, he'd been given an opportunity to be so much more than that. It was all thanks to the Department of External Affairs. He would never be able to repay them for that, but even if it cost him his life in interest, he'd be willing to shoulder that debt.
"Well, I could always stand in the open and wait for something to happen," Parker replied, tilting his head upward a bit in order to meet his taller companion's eyes. He smirked. "Kidding, kidding, before you go into one of your episodes. But I'm not willing to leave until we complete our mission. I'm not going to make a fool of myself before we even have the chance to get in our first kill."
Oh, I see how it is then. *rolls up sleeves dramatically* I have to take matters into my own hands.

Okay, so she told me that she actually wanted to start the first post. She changed her mind--again. XD

*edit* Oh, so he also went to bed, so he won't be starting tonight. Maybe tomorrow.
Hello.

Name: Parker Morton
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Power: Regeneration
Appearance:
Height: 5'6"
Complexion: Caucasian/Pale
Hair Color: Blond
Eye Color: Brown
Personality: Meek and humble, Parker often talks poorly of himself and highly of others, even those who may not be very deserving of praise. Despite having his own hopes and dreams, he'd rather help another achieve theirs because he doesn't view himself capable of being a "major character."
Biography: A new recruit into the Department of External Affairs, Parker had only recently graduated from college when he was scouted for the experimental procedures. Due to his belief that he had no notable talents or skills, he agreed to the conditions. After the evaluation, it was decided that he would be granted the power of regeneration, in which the pills administer an influx of white blood cells and increase the strength of the naturally occurring ones.

...Then the World Cried

World peace has finally been established, but only through humans being given a common enemy; this threat, either from space or a plane of existence above their own, does not discriminate between gender, age, religion, race, ethnicity, or other factors. Each has their own viewpoint on whether these beings are benevolent or malevolent, but all agree that they must be battled in order for the human race to have a chance of survival. Are they arbiters, justice-seekers, or bloodthirsty villains? Why is it that they kill? What is it that they desire to accomplish from committing these crimes?
Those in the Department of External Affairs, a cabinet in the world's new government, are those who underwent and survived an experimental operation to alter their DNA and the chemical composition of their brains. However, as it remains in the testing stages, they have to take these in small doses; one pill, similar to an anti-depressant, can cause a surplus of a certain chemical to a particular area of the brain, thusly causing a near superhuman change that lasts for a certain amount of time. Through this, they can fight these peculiar beings on a similar level, on a level that brings them a chance of victory, though not without its potential consequences...
