I'm only looking for two other people, hopefully people who would be interested in possibly playing more than one character and posting two or three paragraphs at least once a day. I'm looking for people who would enjoy helping drive the story, meaning throwing out plot twists and 'side-quests' of their own and helping with NPCs and basically co-gming this thing. I really want team players, not just people who are going to leave the story entirely to me or I'll get bored and the rp will die. :/ If you've never watched Haven, it's not a problem... I summed up everything you need to know in the 'Welcome to Haven' hider, it's not a lot. If you HAVE and would like to play canon characters and I find two people who want to do that then we'll go from there... Otherwise we're going to make the plot our own. :)
"Haven, better known to some as a refuge for God's orphans, has always been an odd little town. It has suffered more deaths, murders, accidents, and tragedies than any one small town has a right to... but when you live in a place like Haven, a place where people can do unbelievable and unnatural things, you get used to it. Like any small town, Haven has its secrets... its troubles, and not just any troubles... The Troubles. See, those people I mentioned... they aren't just your plain old run of the mill odd folk. They have abilities, abilities that come at a price, and most of the time they have no idea how to control them and if they do... sometimes the rules change. We call these abilities, these curses, Troubles and the people who have them... We call them the Troubled.
Sometimes, the Troubles go away and they stay gone a while and whole families go back to normal... They go away for just long enough that Haven starts to believe that maybe, just maybe, they'll stay gone. Of course, that's just wishful thinking. The Troubles always come back, every 27 years to be exact, and when they do Haven goes crazy all over again. There was a girl whose drawings held so much reality that whatever happened to the images happened to their models as well. There is an entire family in Haven that cannot cry because when they do random people die. There is a woman whose emotions affect the weather, and a woman who envied her sisters wedding so much that now everything she tries to eat turns to wedding cake... These aren't things they do on purpose, half the time they don't even realize they're doing them and its almost always activated by some tragedy or strong emotional scar like guilt, fear, envy, denial, or rage.
The Haven PD have been covering up the truth and 'fixing' the Troubled for as long as anyone can remember... and by fixing I mean finding out what trauma, or emotional response is causing the activity in the person and finding a way to counteract it... Sometimes though, people make things more difficult than they have to be. Every time the Troubles come back the usually friendly and loving town splits in two. On the one side you have the Guard, their only goal is to protect the Troubled no matter what it might mean for other people, and who will try to find a permanent cure by any means necessary. On the other side you have the religious fanatics or close minded people too fixed on their fear of anything different to believe the Troubled are anything but monsters or damned for some sin committed by their great great whatever. Either you are one or the other or you're caught in the middle... like most if the PD.
Until recently, the Troubles had gone away... again. Now though, they're back and worse than ever. This town is hanging on by a thread and it won't take much for that thread to break... The scared people are joining up with the Trouble haters and the Guard is pushing back just as hard, if not harder, than they're being pushed. Soon, this volcano is going to blow... unless we do something fast."
Places in Haven:The Police Station - Self explanatory, autopsies are also done here.
The Grey Gull - A bar/restaurant that has an apartment upstairs.
Good Shepherd Church - Self explanatory again, funerals are held here and the cemetery is located behind it.
The Rust Bucket - A small diner.
Haven Pound and Vet - Self explanatory... It is a very small place.
Haven Herald - The local news paper. If you want to know anything about Haven history or lore you should check their archives. It doubles as the post office.
The Port - Where most of the boats are docked.
The Lighthouse - It has been destroyed so many times by so many different things (usually caused by a Trouble) that there is debate on whether or not the insurance cost it would take after rebuilding it would be worth it.
The Barn - Located on Kick'em Jenny Neck, an island off the coast of Haven. It comes and goes and usually appears right before the Troubles start and disappears when they end. Lots of people have tried to destroy it... no luck.
Icecream Shop - Self explanatory... the old guy keeps the cows he uses for milk in a pasture out back.
Haven Grocery - Self explanatory... it is a decently sized place and stays well stocked.
Spare Parts - They're a shop and they fix most everything mechanical that breaks in Haven.
