Blind Hand - Chapter 1 : Pathways

Setting:
We will be playing the roles of a small group of young adults ranging from late teens to early twenties who have discovered that they have superhuman abilities in the last few weeks and have subsequently been kidnapped by a mysterious government sect that promises a life of torture and testing. On the way to what would be our new home - a prison facility in Alaska, the plane we are aboard is downed whilst travelling over Alaska. We are lucky enough to escape alive - though how long can we stay alive when we are being hunted by the US army in the middle of the wilderness?

Rules:

• I am going to be strict with powers. When choosing a power, go for something that, once mastered, would mean you could easily fight off a large group of people who do not have powers. Also, remember you have just discovered your power so you are no master, at most you will be able to fight off a couple of armed guards. Of course if your power is not combat related, make it so it would be equally useful as a power of this kind.


• Of course, I do not want any dull characters. Any Mary-Sues submitted will be ruthlessly turned down. Try and make your character have something of interest about them, this will be a character-driven RP after all.


• Don't sign up if you are not that bothered. I want this to be quite a long running RP with fairly regular posts. I'm not going to force you to post too often, just to keep up with the group. Otherwise, I won't have a problem killing off anyone's character. Just saying.


• Posts must be of a High Casual standard. Good English and good length. Beginners are fine but if you struggle to write more than a couple of sentences then this isn't the RP for you.

Some call it evolution. Some call it mutation. Some call it a blessing. Some call it a curse. Some use it to help others. Some use it for their own benefit. Some don't know how to use it at all. There are perhaps hundreds of these special people around the world, and the number is increasing steadily. The pathway to a new age begins now.

Over the past decade, certain people across the globe have discovered incredible superhuman abilities that have came to them upon adulthood.

In eastern Europe there were multiple accounts of executions brought on by supposed 'witchcraft'. Several tales of strange beings have circulated around the world, though many have put them off as myths, whilst some believe that they are aliens. There have been dozens of accounts, once or twice caught on camera. It has happened too many times now to be a hoax or a coincidence - but still, people seem to be going on with their lives as per usual, at least within America that is. There is a reason for that. There has not been a single sighting of one of these strange beings in all of the USA. Not one, and to thank for it all is Project Blind Hand.

Blind Hand is an organization within the US government that formed ten years ago, when the first of these superhumans were seen. Since then, Blind Hand has made it their intention to remove all threat of superhuman beings from the country, and, in the long run, the whole of the planet, deeming them as both a hazard to the citizens of the country, a threat to peace, and most importantly, a force that could crumble any regime with enough time and planning. Since then, they have taken every single potential superhuman and wiped them from the face of the earth without a trace. Blind Hand has taken them all to a private facility hidden somewhere in Alaska and tested and tortured them constantly, giving them no outside contact whatsoever and using special rooms and chemicals to prevent their use of abilities.

Nobody has slipped through the cracks. Not until now. Not until a jet carrying new captives was downed on it's way to the facility. Blind Hand tracked down the plane and found it three days after it crashed. There were several missing. Several young men and women running for their lives with only themselves to trust and some powers they barely understand to protect themselves.

Fugitives with Superpowers

I am a fan of Superpower based RPs and have seen some done quite well. However, quite a few fall in to a Free zone where about 20 different characters are posting one liners at different times. I'm not a fan of that. With this, I'm looking to have a relatively small group (probably like 7 or so) who are serious about wanting to stay in for more than a week (these RPs die of way too fast). Because of this, I'm open to suggestions and will change the RP according to how the people in it see fit (within reason). Hopefully, the result will be a long-lived, interesting and character-developing thread.

The basic concept would be a small group of young adults (late teens to early 20s) who are detected by the government to have a rare gene that gives them dangerous powers - these powers could vary from control over fire to superhuman strength. Of course, there will be a certain bracket of powers that will not be available - i.e. those that are not interesting enough (dust control :O) or too powerful. These young adults are kidnapped by the government and are shipped off towards a private facility where they will supposedly live out the rest of their days being tortured and tested all alone. However, a small group of the captives escapes in to the wilderness.
The group will not only be on the run from the government but will also face others with superpowers just to flavour it up a little.
