Psych profile:
Joard is a thoughtful individual who will speak his mind when he feels strongly enough about an issue, though he usually keeps his thoughts to himself. Xer Loa practically raised Joard, and so Joard has taken on a lot of the same opinions and mindsets as his former Master. Joard believes in a more active approach to helping those in need throughout the galaxy, thinking that merely sitting back and watching events unfold and allowing them to escalate before intervening is unacceptable. Xer Loa’s almost constant praise throughout Joad’s training has made the young Knight somewhat arrogant, especially when he knows he’s right about something. Joard knows he’s a smart man and trusts in his abilities maybe just a bit too much, but the truth is he has no idea what extent his abilities reach as he has not seen real battle other than a few disputes here and there throughout his training. Joard can at times overthink things that should otherwise be rather simplistic.
History:
Joard was born on Ord Mantell to junkers, who just barely scraped by before their child. Once they had Joard to look after, the Firrerreo couple would at times go hungry themselves in order to feed their infant son. The situation worsened as Joard got older and became needier. Two changes came upon the family, the first coming when Joard was barely four years of age. His father was desperate for credits to feed his family, so he accepted a bounty on one of the Republic troopers on Ord Mantell; apparently the man had angered the wrong person. Joard’s father sought the trooper out and plunged a rusty shank into the soldier’s neck. The boy’s father was arrested a short time after and imprisoned, but thankfully his wife and son got the money from the job. It was enough to live comfortably with just the two of them for a few months, but the money could not prevent Joard’s mother grieving herself into sickness.
The second change came when Joard turned five; Jedi came to Ord Mantell to help the Republic with something and happened upon Joard. His mother gave her consent, knowing that he would live a much better life as a Jedi in service to the Republic. The young Firerreo was then taken to Coruscant to train as a Jedi. He was raised in the Order’s arms and molded by the Masters. Shortly after leaving Ord Mantell and joining the Jedi, Joard’s mother died of sickness, not being able to live without her husband. Joard mourned his mother, but continued with his training under the Jedi.
At the age of twelve, Joard was taken on as a Padawan learner under a Kel Dor Jedi Master by the name of Xer Loa. The boy, having little to no memory of his own father, looked up to Xer Loa as a father figure, and their relationship grew as Joard trained directly under his new Master. Xer Loa did his best to shape and mold Joard into a talented and mindful young Jedi. The boy took to the subjects of warfare strategy and history quickly and soon proved to be a talented Force user for someone his age, although his training with a lightsaber did not slack either. Joard took to the Makashi style of combat, relying more on his agility than strength, trusting in his ability to dodge attacks instead of meeting attacks head on. The young Firrerreo grew as his training continued under the watchful eye of Xer Loa. Joard remained Xer Loa’s Padawan for seven years, and has recently been knighted by the Masters of the Order.
Xer Loa backs Joard in his decision to join the movement headed by Revan and join the fray in order to defend those who can’t defend themselves.
Relationships and Acquaintances:
- Most people Joard meets think of him as arrogant and stubborn.
- Joard has made an acquaintance in Nero Acerbi due to both of their Masters having been friends and worked closely together on various missions, causing the two young men to be around one another quite a bit for brief periods of time. Now that the two have decided to go off to join Revan's ranks, Nero has actually been put under Joard as his Padawan, despite Joard just recently being knighted.
