Kesia felt pressure from Sinai's sword, even though she could of simply raised her energy to force Sinai's sword back towards her, she chose not to. This was a spar to show Sinai's skills after all so to make Rio's job easier, Keisa held her sword with the same amount of pressure, allowing Sinai to push her backwards a little and land a kick to her side. Keisa strengthened her stance to take all of the force behind the kick without moving, which was a decent amount in Keisa's opinion. As she let Sinai wiggle out of her grip, Keisa's eyes kept on Sinai's face as the girl attempted a Tessho, which Kesia simply moved her head to the right so Sinai's palm moved passed Keisa's head across her left shoulder, meanwhile Keisa headed forward aiming to head-butt Sinai and send her flying back.

Sinais strike flew past Keisa head. instead of grabbing her hair Sinai Shunpo to her left. she paused a second to re-evaluate her opponent. she was sturdy and well trained, oddly enough she was left handed. On top of that, the lieutenant mentioned something about control.. Unfortunately sinai had not seen her make use of her sword yet. She sheathed her sword while eyeing Keisa. Slowly she rose to the balls of her feet into a stance. facing an armed opponent unarmed was something she was used to, after all it wasnt until she joined the academy that she ever held a blade. She felt more comfortable with this approach, needing to only dodge the blade to launch her attack. until she found out how well kiesa could use that sword she would minimize her offensive. Sinai dashed forward , as soon as she got just outside of Kiesa's range she jumped and flipped well over her, as if she envisioned a bubble around her. At the height of the jump she pointed at her "hado 1. Sho." The kido it itself was normal, the angle the invisible force would be coming from in such a flip might be a bit difficult to figure out, but it was aimed for Kiesa's left shoulder. When she landed she moved forward quick, to try to step inside her sword range, and volley her with punches. if she could get there.

But about the spiritual part, it more in reference to him living with the spirits in the Library, not really about him meditating and entering the spirit world.

Nicias is an Eclectic Earthbender from the Dessert, which technically made him a sandbender. This fun, adventure loving young adult is more than your run of the mill scavenger. He is a survivor having braved the dessert many times in search of food where his tribe dared not go. Don’t let his smile fool you, he’s been through a lot. He’s got a level head on his shoulders unfortunately there is no heart of gold.

Traits
[indent]His sand bending is much more proficient than his earthbending skills due to that fact that he lives in the dessert. He is capable of most of the normal earthbending level abilities. In terms of sandbending he exhibits much more versatility.

Sandslide- by shifting the earth underneath his feet he can slide across the ground as ifher were skateboarding.

He is a thief, he doesn’t advertise it but he’s a thief.

History

He and his brother were born to a couple in a sandbender tribe. They grew up in the culture and the heat learning how to survive. Both brothers were adept sandbenders, their survival depended on it. When Nicias was 9, their tribe was hit by a monstrous sandstorm. It wiped out a third of the tribe, among the dead or missing were his parents. The tribe leaders quickly declared that the storm was a test from the dessert itself, proof that only the strong survive. For years that statement infuriated him, and drove him into stupid and reckless decisions. But he was strong, so it seemed, and he survived.

6 years later, at the age of 15, his tribe faced another crisis, Tribal war. The unrest of the world had spilled into the dessert, making survival even more difficult for tribes. Some sought out the tribes as a refuge, others as a source of security or strength. By this time Nicias’ tribe was one of the smaller tribes, so they were caught between the two main conflicting tribes. When finally pulled into the conflict Nicias served as a raider, he and several others had the lovely job of being dessert thieves. Stealing food, supplies and information from other tibes by whatever means necessary. Sometimes it was a full out assault. Other times a more stealthy approach. Hitting trade routes was also a good way of getting food and supplies.

Despite all the effort, they were ultimately on the losing side 1 year later. His tribe was forcefully disbanded and scattered through the victor tribes. He remained with his brother and his family. However it was not a life he could live, so he left at age 16, to Omashu. unfortunately his life was barely different, He fell in with a ring of thieves. His abilities came in handy from time to time but over the next 4 years he learned many ways to steal.

Now he and many others are fed up with the Police and taxes. They have taken to stealing from the ‘rich’ and hiding the money. They only take enough from it to pay the taxes to remain anonymous. Its their intention to pull the upperclass down to the lower class but a couple of their members got caught. Its unlikely that they will snitch but the Money has been moved just in case. On his way home one afternoon Nicias heard about the Rising again? More people pissed off at the Phoenix kingdom.

Gio went to his office to rest. Wit a significantly lightened work load it was a well earned nap. As he laid his head down and drifted he was pretty much dragged into a dream. Everything around him was on fire, the sky was black with thick clouds of smoke, ashes fell like snow. He started running through the fire, through the seemingly endless burning forest. Trees were crumbling and threatening to crush him as they fell indiscriminately. The piles of ashes got deeper and deeper, the firers hotter and hotter. He tried to jump but it didn’t work. He tried to shunpo but it didn’t work. He tried Kido, it didn’t work. He reached for his zanakuto, but it wasn’t there. At this point he couldn’t even move, so when the burning tree came falling down on him there wasn’t anything he could do.

He woke up at his desk, angrily. So much for a decent nap. He let out a yawn and rubbed his eyes. “what kind of nightmare was that?” it almost made him want to go cut down a tree for falling on him in his dreams but that seemed a bit much. As soon as he stepped out of his office he knew something was up. He closed his eyes to focus his senses, all signs pointed to squad 11. He wouldn’t be surprised if that was why he couldn’t sleep. But when you cant sleep you can always eat. And there was bound to be some food left.

Keisa watched every step Sinai took, holding her Katana firm in her left hand. Rio promoted Keisa, knowing the girl needed more work on controlling her spiritual energy since it tended to spiral out of control often. Keisa nodded while glancing at Rio in acknowledgement before looking back at Sinai. The girl placed both hands behind her back, however Keisa only kept her eyes on the whole of the woman's body, her own body still. Sinai then launched so Keisa held her sword out with her left hand, pointing it to Sinai. Keisa's sword was then knocked upwards but Keisa kept her eyes straight as Sinai sent a punch heading for her gut. Keisa grabbed the girl's fist, holding her there while pushing her sword against Sinai's, trying to force the sword back as Keisa quickly lifted her right knee, aiming to knee the girl in the stomach.

Sinai kept her left foot forward to solidify her balance and her stance, since she just threw a punch with her left foot. The catching of this fist was a decent surprise and it locked them in place. Sinai could feel her opponents weight shift to her right side, which meant something was coming from Sinai's left. both hands were accounted for so the knee to the stomach was taken as Sinai shifted her weight from her left foot to her right foot. she pushed hard against he blade with her right arm while she lifted her left foot quickly into the kidney of the opponent. her stomach stung but moving away from the blow lessened the damage, but still hurt. Sinai snatched her hand back to release her hand from kiesa's grasp and swung again with a palm strike, a Tessho. if it landed that would be great but it was really intended to put knock her completely off balance by making her dodge. as Rio might be noting, Most of Sinai's moves are precise, she has both hit and miss strategies for most of her strikes.

Rio eyed the woman, looking her up and down while thinking of who she could pin the girl up against. Rio waved her hand as she turned around, walking towards the training room. Once she had lead the Sinai inside, Rio looked around and signalled for the closest Shingami to come to her."Yes Lieutenant?" A woman approached Rio. Rio held her professionalism as she spoke, Keisa only looked back at Rio with a face as straight as her's before looking Sinai in the eye. "Sure, I'll do it." Keisa drew her sword before walking to a spot a little further away from Rio and the girl but no too far. "Sparring time Sinai so get moving." Keisa watched Sinai and waiting for the girl. Rio looked at Sinai also, crossing her arms before speaking.

Sinai followed the lieutenant, and was introduced to another member of the squad. she would have to spar her? that wasnt too bad. way to gauge her skills. when the woman known as keisa drew her blade, Sinai took note of the length. it was a standard sized katana, where as her own was shorter, more of a tanto blade. she simply had to find a way under her guard. Sinai moved forward, closing the distance before reaching for her own sword. as she moved she put both arms behind her back to confuse her opponant as to which hand the sword would come from. she surged both hands forward, in her right hand moving fast was her blade held in a reverse grip style. she swung in an upward angle to knock Keisa's sword upward, if she managed to block it. her left hand moved intentionally slower with a follow up punch to hit her under her guard if they clashed swords. or to make a counter attack harder if she missed with her first strike

Sinai stood up straight when she was spoken to. "Yes Lieutenant, My name is Sinai. I would like to Join Squad 2" This woman was the lieutenant? awesome, the soul society needed more strong women. Sinai blinked, to maintain her awareness of her surroundings. Maybe she was being a dramatic pessimist but until such time as she was proven otherwise she assumed that everyone else in the room was waiting for the Lieutenant to give the signal to attack her. she knew there was a giant possibility she was over reacting so she kept her face free of hints. She simple looked at the lieutenant.

Sinai was told to speak to the captain, and if he was busy the lieutenant would also be able to help her. She didnt ant to bother the captain, even though she really really anted to meet him. but he had to be a bust man so she asked the person if they would let the lieutenant know that there was a shinigami interested in joining the squad. the reason she asked that the messaged be passed was because she was certain they wouldnt let just anybody roam around the barracks. it was basically a ninja training camp, probably filed with booby traps, secret passage ways and all kinds of other awesome shit... ok probably not but the thought was entertaining her as she waited.

Gio didn’t give up until he at least had the kido down to a small crackle. It would take more than one training session to get the technique completely down but at least he had the first part down. That in and of itself allowed him to ‘hold’ kido, or delay the activation. However he couldn’t really think of a combat application for it. He was already good at speed casting, so to speak, and holding might be more effective for bakudo until he could get this technique down. He decided to call it quits at that point, no reason to get worked up over something he only saw once. He still had to get the release down, which he got the feeling would be the harder part. Timing the instant of impact with the release of energy would take practice, and would probably wind up hurting as well.
“why do you not try it in shikai?” Sorareo-O echoes in his head as he took a seat
“I want to work with you, not lean on you. The better I get the better we get”

“more like I seek to prove our capabilities. I’m still just a third seat. All but mastered the art of Kido, but with the new head captains…order, its like what I thought was impressive is now the expected norm.”
