Sage slipped in and closed the door behind him "you had us pretty worried" he leans against the door

Sage finished his food and returned to his room to.... well he wasnt actually sure. He was hesitant to study since Spirit told him the books were pretty much outdated. he held up his index finger, focusing his spirit magic to a single point. suddenly something dawned on him. he left his room and went to the one he remember being Pakunas. he knocked lightly before opening the door and poking his head in

Class: he is so ninja that he appears to be more of a wandering swordsman but in truth, he is a ninja. XD
Powers:
1. Enhanced senses/ hyperawareness: because of his training his senses are honed to a near peek human level. this allows him to hear see and smell things that most people wouldnt be able to.
2. darkness manipulation: the ability to create and control darkness. he can blend into shadows and absorb light for about a 5 meter radius around him. he can control his shadow and solidify it to manipulate small object (or pick locks) naturally his power is extremely limited in the day. at night where there is more darknessness he can connect his shadow to other shadows and control them (the shadows) too, giving him a bigger shadow to do things with.
A part of this included binding people by their shadows. when connecting his shadow to another persons the sensation is that of paralysis but it can be faught and overcome. however if he is physically touching the persons shadow, the paralysis is stronger.
weakness
1. because his senses are so sharp he can be over stimulated by powerful scents, or extremely loud noises. bright lights are a doosy for him too but his eyes will eventually adjust.
2. light...day time...light.
Background
his Earliest memories involve training and conditioning. running, fighting, climbing, killing. he was a born and bred ninja by his thirteenth year. Even among the mountain compound where he was trained there was something about him that stood out. occasionally some of the children would develop skills that went beyond the human norm. abilities that tended to assist them in their missions. These were rare however and hardly went beyond feats of speed and strength. But in the case of Orion and his companion there was something different but no one could tell what it was
by his 20th year he had become an accomplished master of the way of the ninja. mastering the art of infiltration, assassination, several forms of sword fighting and archery. at this time his gift was made know upon the death of his companion. the power of darkness, hailed by the shinobi, seemed to be his to command, in inexplicable ways. for fear of it he was banished from his clan to live alone. a life he preferred with his companion dead. To this day he wanders around as a katana wielding drifter, seldom calling on his powers of darkness.
Other: Most mistake him for a samurai and he seldom denies it as his sword skills are good enough. But underneath that not so fancy get up are several ninja tools that he wont hesitate to pull out since...well hes a ninja, its their job to cheat

" yes sir i would like to assist you in any way possible in regards to the kido corps. in regards to my skills, I would imagine you would rather see than hear about them. though i must ask you to take into account the previous battle i participated in" Of course it would come to a demonstration, and being the head captain meant he was far from easily impressed. and yet in the back of his mind he couldnt help but dwell on what was said earlier by the head captain, about the level of work and pressure of being a captain and the requirements to become one. with that in mind something was gnawing at him, something he knew he would have to keep to himself. how the hell did the captain of squad 4...become captain of squad for. if he didnt know what an academy was he probably wouldnt be able to pass anything that could be concidered an exam. and then on top of that he had told Giovanni that he was once in the kid corp..so why didnt he lead... and you know who would be the best person to ask. the man in front of him. "sir if i might ask a slightly unrelated question, Captain Viole expressed to be his previous affiliation with the kido corps, why was he not chosen to lead them but instead he is captain of squad 4?"
"with all due respect sir, upon becoming a soul reaper neither my job nor my personal goal is to impress you nor the other captains. My responsibility lies solely in the protection of the soul society by which ever means I am afforded. It should be my progress, sense of duty and capabilities that will qualify me for what ever I obtain and not personal favor or kissing up. " the head captain seemed to have miss-interpreted Giovanni's request. It was of little consequence however. Gio was asking... well volunteering to be trained to be the head captains assistant or liaison to the kido corps. by what ever means necessary he meant what ever means necessary, including training or proving himself, though hopefully training came first, because he was still kind of tired from the last fight. If the request was denied, as he suspected it might be, he would simply train and inquire further on his own. After all, Sorareo had given him a hint to progress not to long ago, that could be to his advantage if explored correctly

Gio just sighs " Sir, i apologize in advance for my insolence... but I must disagree. while you are correct leadership should fall to someone within the corp I think you are...." he paused to choose his words carefully "i understand that i know very little, but what i do know i know well. we have very few captains in the Gotei, by that i mean we dont have 13, and we are missing one for the corps. and all this falls on you. I dont know if you have a lieutenant or who they are to assist you with the operations of the squads but they are, for the most part, autonomous. they do their own thing and you mobilize them when necessary. You give leadership to..well everyone and the severity of that position, that burden, that responsibility is insurmountable. as you said the Corps falls on the back burner. so long as the open the Senkaimon properly everything else they do doesnt really matter when compared to the day to day protection and policing of the soul society as a whole. Sir... something has to change and to that end i would like to volunteer myself to do what ever it takes to assist you in the pursuit of said change. " he looked up at the head captain as a display of his resolve.
Giovanni listened intently. He wasnt exactly surprised that the leadership fell on the head captain. What did seem strange was that in the years since the apparent dethroning of the previous kido captain no one has replaced him. so either the head captain was very peculiar about who was to be in charge, or he was unwilling to relinquish any of the power he already held. since the stealth force was a part of squad 2 it was technically under his command as well. in short this one man had control of the entire military and very few people knew. most assumed, correction, most were taught that the kido corp was separate to prevent one person from amassing such power. well that clearly didnt work but if central 46 allowed it then there shouldnt be anything to worry about.
Gio nodded but is curiosity had gotten the best of him " if it is as you say it is then my suspicions were correct. i was confused as to why I not only had to search out the HQ of the kido corps on my own to be allowed entry into its rank but even upon entry I was, well to be blunt sir, i was put out. historically they train their members in secret but i was set to train on my own it seems. With most soul reapers joining the more popular branches i would imagine the Corps is lacking on recruits. I wouldn't imagine their missions and duties being notably life threatening but with very little incoming man power its only a matter of time before they fizzle out. I apologize I am ranting. but is there no Lieutenant or 3rd seat to oversee the duties and responsibilities of the kido corp personally as you are more bound to the captancy of the gotei than to the kido corps...sir" that might have came off as something of an insult but it was meant to be a general concern. Gio wasnt quite grasping what was going on but what he did understand he wasnt sure he liked. However he had noticed the head captain offering him a chance to be promoted, perhaps that would gain him clearance to more information. And to think, this was all professional business, chances were he wouldnt get to his personal business, but at this rate that was ok.
