It wasn’t until he was in the 64th north district that he sensed the speedster again. while he had suspected there were others nearby with the levels he was seeking he was currently surrounded by his third group of bandits. He had shunpo’d away from the last two groups but since one of these thugs had a spiritual pressure worth noting he figured he would stay and entertain them. out of the five that approached him the one with the reiatsu wasn’t the leader, but they looked a like. So Giovanni took a shot in the dark.
“is he your brother?” he pointed at the spiritual one but kept his eyes on the leader”
“yeah, he is, what ove it.” his far too deep voice growled in response.
“what if I told you I could give him something that would make his life better?”
“what about the rest of us”
“well that… is up to him”
“I make the decisions here”
“that must be hard on you when he is the only one that gets hungry”
“how do you know that?”
“Hunger is a sign of spiritual pressure. He is the only one among you that has anything significant.”
“That sword of yours will be pretty significant when we kill you for it”
“You wont though.”
“How do you figure?”
“Because I’m offering you something better.” Gio shifted his gaze to the younger brother “come with me, become a soul reaper and make enough money to take all four of
them out of this lifestyle.”
“like hell he’s going with you” the leader yelled “but how much money you talking”
“six years of free training food and shelter for him. Then he graduates and joins a squad. That means he gets a commission. Given the state of the soul society… id say each allotment would be able to keep you quite comfortable for months at a time out here” Giovanni persuaded.
“so what will it be. Attempting to take my sword and forfeit your meal ticket…or allow him to come with me and wait on him to come back stronger and well..with more money thatn you make robbing folk.”
“I’ll go with you” the younger brother finally spoke up. “on one condition”
“what is that?” Gio cocked his head to the side curiously.
“Convince me”
Gio shrugged and unleashed his spiritual pressure, while it wast much compared to higher seated officers to them it seemed like a heavy weight on their shoulder, driving three of them to the ground. Gio let up and the man nodded
“my name is Caleb.”
“Hello Caleb, you made the right decision for your whole family”
The older brother didn’t look to happy, but he accepted it. especially since a small crowed had gathered “can we come too?” a voice shouted from the crowd, causing Gio to glance in that direction.
