Not god in the christian sense, but god all the same. Totally omnipotent, all-knowing and all-creating. God made countless realities out there. Realities that are just endless ocean with ice burgs that size of planets that contain entire worlds upon them, realms of existence like heaven and like hell, realms of existence that are full of artificial structures that have no purpose. Realms where everything sits atop a fragile needle, where everything in a endless network of caves. Realms with gods, demigods and mythological beasts- some where magic is a reality, others where the laws of physics completely lack consistency, cartoonesque in what is and isn't possible. Some realms had no gravity, others had tons of gravity. The endless imagination of the creator having led to worlds infinite.
Than god out of nowhere died. Seemingly murdered in cold blood, but by who or what being unknown. The only thing known being what occurred immediately after.
The Collapse.
All of the known realities just collapsed into a single realm of existence in a kaledoscope of realities forced together. How no one died from the cataclysmic introduced of countless physical laws that even contradict each other is not important and you should just enjoy this RP instead. Earth has been hit hard by this in particular- hundreds of different realities suddenly popping up tandem to each other, oceans having alantean kingdoms rising from the depths, the moon replaced with a giant metal ball full of robots, mars having become home to actual martians, magicians popping up all over the planet, demons rising from hell and reality warping monsters coming to call Antarctica home and this is just scratching the surface.
It has been a year since, yet still no one really knows what the hell is going on. Scientists ramble on about quantum mechanics while theologians claim it's Armageddon
All that is truly known Is that God died and is there may well be a way to bring god back. Some people babbling about in the most multi-cultural streets in the universe (people from all sorts of realities starting to deal with each other and all who somehow all are speaking the same language unless they aren't) are claiming there may well be a way to take god's place and rule over this new state of existence should someone find god's corpse, wherever in the universe it may be. Thankfully, there are quite a few ways to navigate this new universe be it through reading the right book or finding a rip in reality, of which there are many.
Trying to bring god back to life or obtain the power of god is by no means a task anyone can do alone.
Thankfully, there is a group of like-minded individuals of great power who seek to take action in a world full of confusion. Together, they shall scour the vast reaches of reality itself to find the rotting corpse of god. No doubt that they are not alone, competition will be cutthroat.
So expect anything.
This is a character-based multiverse RP where you can be pretty much anything... Well, except for stuff that makes me cringe too hard. Everyone is part of a group, said group gains/losses players at anytime. The RP could start with one player alone and just have more people introduced as things move forward.
1. I prefer it if people are a bit creative about this, like don't try to apply as your favorite pokemon or edward cullen is what i'm saying here. If it's something archetypal like a fantasy race or a grey it will be tolerated, however.
2. The power standard is that characters can be pretty damn powerful in this RP, like demigod-level power (when I say this, I mean stuff like wizards, super soldiers, badasses, hell maybe literal demigods and whatnot). God-level power is not allowed (I.e no invincible, can teleport anywhere they want at will, travel to any point in time or all-knowing/all-making sorts of characters). So like, batman level power may be fine, but not super man level power. I'll have to make somewhat subjective judgement on this, I will admit. Power isn't everything I should note, so if you want to be some weak, plucky character go ahead.
3. App standards aren't going to be absurd here. Just fill out a few sections to your heart's content and you are free to IC.
4. As GM, my word is law. I will make many situations, if you want to do some partial-GMing for other players however, go ahead. (Like making some monster you want everyone to fight is fine with me if it isn't thrown out completely out of nowhere).
5. You can join/leave the RP at anytime, but for players joining please try devising a way to introduce your character and for players leaving please make a post that drops your character out of the group be it through a ambiguous "death" or simply ditching because he/she is like that.
6. The group can be ideologically split and have all sorts of motives, but there should be one thing universal to all the characters: They want to find the corpse of god be it for bringing back god or becoming god and are willing to work with others to at the very least get there, even if your character plans on betraying everyone.
7. Advanced RP standards apply.
App:
Name- Overview- (a paragraph that explains what your character's like, stuff like personality and motives go here) Biography- (A low down on what your character was doing before reality collapsed and anything between that and ending up with the group) Physical Traits- (Description of what your character looks like physically. Using just a picture will get your app instantly denied.) Personal Items- (This is where you put all the stuff your character carries around) Powers/Abilities- (What powers, talents or abilities your character has.)
Just really some idle concept. Meant to be a character based advanced RP. May try it later, but it's so underdeveloped and poorly thought out now i'm holding off on it. Mainly because I don't think I imagined enough horrible things to throw at people and just lack the time. If someone else makes this I may not play it since I don't really trust other people to go with the concept properly (like they may make the multiverse too skewed towards one genre they like) since this RP requires a really creative GM to pull off right. I don't even know if i'm creative enough even. Maybe a system of collective GMing may work for this sort of RP?
Also spoiler alert:
Players are meant to get harassed and stalked by a psychotic angelic being who may or may not be satan.
Something I tried repeatedly, but didn't happen.
2032 CE: Genetic manipulation has reached its peak. IQs can now be specially engineered to 200. Hair color, eyes, and other features are for parents to control. Personality manipulation is the stuff of science fiction and can never be achieved. 2063 CE: Atomic manipulation is available. Atoms can be created and destroyed at will. 2185 CE: "The Dark" occurs. All metal in the world goes dark for 10 seconds, then humanity blacks out for 10 years while specially engineered drones and probes go around the world and insert an electric virus emitter. The virus is controlled by a man named Giov Morodimi. Humanity is aware only of the 10 seconds during which all electricity stopped and all metal went mysteriously black. Many speculators believe aliens, but this was disproved by NASA. 2204 CE: Giov Morodimi enters a cyrochamber where he will achieve sub-sentient immortality. His mind still controls the virus emitters and the viruses themselves. 2325 CE: Giov releases virus. His cousin, Derigm Morodimi, institutes "The Hack". All alter-egos are put in cryostasis and their personalities are carried by the infected cells to the virus emitters, who in turn "Upload" them to a mysterious supercomputer known as the "L-Net", standing for "Life-Network". It is now 0 LNR (Life Network Rotations). 0.5 LNR: Derigm voluntarily joins the L-Net to assimilate humanity for "The Return", when they will all be enslaved to the Morodimis. Derigm and Giov cannot figure out how to directly control personalities, but they know how to code it into their minds. 5 LNR: The Morodimis lose control. Nobody knows why. Legend says that Derigm's key to the Return is still hidden in the L-Net. 100 LNR: Civilization is reestablished. Various cyber-governments spring up.
You have the ability to cast 'spells' in the format of a computer command. Only a small nobility has access to these. Format: ///:{[CommandNameOneWordAbbreviationsAreLikelyALLCAPS]:<Target/Message/PointA/PointB/AnyThatMayApply:<Whatever>>}(security code clearance-command channel)
Examples: ///:{[IMSG]:<Message:<Hello>><Target:<UltikanaRe>>}(0-ulti'schannel) Sends the message "Hello" to UltikanaRe through the "ulti'schannel" ///:{[DEATH]:<Target:UltikanaRe>>}(7-End) Kills UltikanaRe through the "End" command channel
Security Code Clearances 0-7, easy to hard to learn the inner code. 7 is unknown to most people.
Levels of code 0-7, 0 being visible when you enter the command line, 7 being accessible only by hacking into the inner core of the L-Net. Depending on the clearance of the command, you must know that layer of inner code.
File extensions An User (Command-wielder) may create files of varying power depending on the commands used in that file. Here are some common file extensions and their clearance: .doc: Document, 0 .img: Image, 0 .dsp: Display, 0 .adsp: Animated Display, 1 .wor: Superficial world (looks and feels like just a game), 1 .wedit: World Edit (Minor), 2 .lnk: Persona Display Link, 2 .ccon: Optionial Control Link, 3 .ssc: Self Structure Change, 3 .wrd: File ward, 4 .endoc: Encrypted document (Minor), 4 .nedit: Net/World Edit (Medium), 5 .enfl: Encrypted File (Major), 5 .core: Net Edit (Major), 6 .aurhak: Hack into persona without permission, 6 .moro: Contact to the 'mythical' world of Earth, 7 .rel: File pertaining to "The Return", 7
Netaliases All personas within the L-Net have a Netalias, which is essentially a name. Users have an Useralias and a Netalias. For most commands (specifically minor ones), a Netalias is required. For the most advanced commands, they may require an Useralias.
Netcodes All personas have a Netcode, which is essentially a password. Users have Netcodes and Usercodes. Again, these are required for commands and accessing files well as the L-Net itself.
All humans are users, the other 5/6 of the populace are net personas. They are engineered to be the Mrodimi's military ideal citizens. They're looks and features are based off of a random User.
You will play a user, and feel free to make your own commands. If I see something OP I will tell you, but virtually anything is possible with the right clearance.
The posting requirement is 8-14 paras a week, distributed however you wish. When you are making your character, think about the world (file) you are in. Nothing is perfect in the L-Net, so feel free to come up with a few mega-dystopias. You may also decide you want your native world to resemble a high fantasy MMOORG. That is totally fine. I want that diversity. You are required to also fill out the world sheet unless you have the express consent of the world builder. Anything used without permission will not be accepted, be I do not accept world builders who decide they no longer want to work with the other person at a deeper level.
Netalias/Useralias Netcode/Usercode (Image if you would like) Race/Species Occupation Appearance (2 para) •Race/Species •Race appearance details •Attire Backstory (Not really the place for a lot of character development, more of a timeline with plot hooks. Try to approach it objectively. 2-3 para) Personality (2-3 para. Please reference backstory for why she is that way. Alliances/Organisations/Employers/Nations (A few lines each, no more than a para per...whatchamacallit)
Name of Cyberworld List of prominent nations and cities. (Please distribute about 24 lines between them for descriptions.) Geography (This may have been somewhat covered in earlier sections. You may skip if you feel you adequately described it. Be sure you also included climate, topography, wildlife, terrain types, and bodies of water. Please make sure you have about 3 para in earlier sections if you skip it. Also, it would be nice if you went by nation/province/region) History (This an overview of the world. You do to need every war that happened between some nations, but you do need large societal trends and massive conflicts. For example; for our world I would probably list the Enlightenment and WW2, but the American Civil War would most likely be left out as it did not affect too many other nations. 3-4 para)
You may switch up the order of anything in those sheets.
Please do not go too far over those maximums. I do not really want novella-epic-per-post or even in CSs (although I did intentionally add a lot to the CSs and Worldbuiling Sheet). I feel this belongs in advanced because I do want 2 or more paragraphs a post, I just want less than 10 (per post).
*Note: May have played with the dates on the timeline in quoted post.
It took 400 years just to increase IQ and change someone's eye and hair colors?!
Those are some really lazy biotech firms lol.
That being said, a nation RP in a VR complex where magic is actually reality hacking could be cool.
Has anyone ever attempted to make a advanced RP that is a multiverse jump-in?
Since jump-in role-plays I always found appealing but they usually are only in free or casual. Never in NRP or advanced.
Is it just not appealing to most people who write on the page-per-post (500/1000+ words per post) level? Or is it that the subject member just doesn't appeal to the type of people who do advanced RP?
I ask since it would be cool to have a multiverse RP where you couldn't use fandom content to see just how far collective on the fly creativity can take a story.
ASTA, like with what vilage said evolution even with psychological doesn't work on such short timescales.
If this were the case, than why is it that Japan was able to go from a feudal society to a modern democracy in what, 200-300 or so years? Spend thousands of years in clans killing each other, spend a few centuries closed off to the world under a united shogun, proceed to spend a good seven decades conquering everyone else, than after one lost war deciding to adopt western democracy doesn't really work with the "culture is genetically inherited" belief.
Because the fundamental issue with what you are asserting is that culture and genetics are intertwined. Which makes no sense at all, I hate to break it to you. Cultures may evolve and may have ethnic associations (like the han ethnicity and china), but someone from one ethnic adopting and assimilating into a foreign culture happens all the time. Culture is far more a identity thing than a genetic thing, which is why cultures can come in and die out even if the ethnic still exists. Egypt is a good example of that. Ethnic Egyptians still exist, but they ceased worshiping the sun millenniums ago. The ancient world and how they handled gods actually debunks the 'culture is inherited' idea as well.
For how can you explain to me why there were celts and romans worshiping Ra?
But interstellar's future culture was basically Americana in a O'Neil cylinder. I am thinking in terms of a civilization that's as culturally distant to us as feudal, catholic dominated Europe at the very least.
What makes distant future post apoc complicated is how does one take into account the remains of our civilization or the possibility of a culture that isn't tech averse popping up too soon or the likelihood some areas of the world may hold themselves together into some advanced city state. Only way I can figure this out is basically to hit a reset button on mankind and reduce global populations down to a meager 1.7 million people. Even than they'd still have linguistic evolution.
I had one future where earth after a collapse was dominated by isolated, but technologically advanced city states that kept watch on the rest of mankind. But that future was only 250 years to where the collapse also was tempered by a couple colonies stuck on the moon and mars whose cultures became psychotically rigorous and communal (since everyone must have astronaut levels of discipline to survive and food supply needs to be precisely rationed to last).
...Which is not the 1000 years it would probably take to get whole new cultures and traditions can take root. Even the astronauts would have continuity with the US and NASA or the CNA.
I remember just playing roller coaster tycoon and failing every scenario, even forest frontiers since I knew jack all about loans and just blew all my money building a horribly designed wooden roller coaster. I also remember going to some day care where I played with duplo. That it was the year 2000 and the world didn't end.
Come to think of it I can't remember a world without computers and am nearing the age of 19.
It's kinda freaky that I can't comprehend a computer-less world despite a world without personal computers being the norm just 30 years ago. It just seems like madness to not be able to look up anything you want at any time. That would mean like, reading books or something.
It makes me realize how narrow my slice of existence in time is. Cold War seems like the distant past to me, yet my parents grew up in that environment. The war on terror begun when I was five and is pretty much just a fact of life to me that there's been a never ending war in the middle east.
Makes me wonder how any children I may have will process a world without augmented reality. I don't think they could.
Not like it will matter if the feminists or MRAs get there way once the robots take over. Since we will than be all equal under the all seeing digital god who watches your every move and reads your every action.
Does 8chan have actual containment boards in the way 4chan does? I don't recall anything where a board is basically declared "only post this subject on this one board or you get banned" like on 4chan.
