NAME: Mae Toussaint
NEW NAME: Mato
NATIONALITY: French
GENDER: Female
AGE: 14
APPEARANCE: Mae is a girl with short cut brown hair which usually appears a bit messy with no particular style, rather simply being left to fall naturally after a morning shower. Her eyes are a greenish blue color, her face often showing something of a neutral-grumpy expression. Her skin is a bit rough around the hands, elbows and knees and ever so slightly tanned. On her left leg is a decently visible scar stretching from a bit below her knee to just above her ankle earned from a nasty fall from a tree when she was 11. The girls favored clothing are loose fitting comfortable pieces such as hoodies and track jackets. She always wears pants regardless of the weather. She always carries a messenger bag hung across her shoulder containing a note pad and pens.
PERSONALITY: Mae is a fairly tomboyish girl with a rather aggressive streak to her who can easily be described as touchy and stubborn. She is one who is easily annoyed or frustrated leading to a commonly grumpy demeanor. While she is not purposely mean her fussy nature combined with an aggressive streak has often lead her to fights and arguments with others. Her lack of a voice only serves to exacerbate this by making her actions much more pronounced to compensate.
These issues have also made it difficult for her to get close to others her age, finding boys to often be irritating while at the same time being too boyish herself to get along well with other girls. Though she is not particularly shy she is not especially outgoing either. However despite general attitude the girl is noticeably more relaxed, even rather playful when around she feels comfortable with and is more forgiving of things which would ordinarily irritate her.
HISTORY: Mae is a city girl and only child born and raised in France by her single mother. With a below average family income much of her life has been spent between the family's small apartment and your average neighborhood schools. However one thing would ultimately serve to throw a wrench into the entirely average life. Due to a series of physical defects relating to her vocal cords and throat Mae was born mute without the ability to ever speak. This naturally would serve to cause various difficulties and hardships the growing girl would need to learn to deal with.
Despite learning sign language she would be resorted to carrying note pads and pens with her at all times as her primary form of communication, often making it a challenge to converse with other students and her teachers. In her school life her condition would lead her to be placed in special education classes where communication would be easier but outside such environments she would continue to have difficulties. Lacking a voice of her own the girl would become an easy target for bullying and teasing by other students. Responding to the various stresses she dealt with it would not take long for her to develop the somewhat aggressive nature she currently holds.
Throughout her brief years Mae has been something of a troublesome child. Being almost entirely unable to use words to solve her problems she would commonly take the physical approach to deal with the childish teasing and bullying, often ending herself in school yard scraps. While these scuffles were fairly frequently none of them had amounted to any sort of serious fights, with both parties receiving little more than a few bumps and bruises.
With both her peers and herself becoming a bit older these fights have started to become a bit less frequent within the last year or so. Mae has started to keep to herself a bit more since her 13th birthday in effort to try and avoid the annoying little scraps.
