Kyra

It would seem like they have a party now, and part of being part of a party was getting to know one another. Pulling up a chair from an empty table, Kyra orders a humble breakfast for herself too as she joins the conversation. "I'll have what he's having, and some water too." Kyra says to the tavern maiden as she hands off her waterskin to be refilled. She listened to Kythor say a bit about himself, which helped Kyra think about what she should say. It's not like she has many secrets or anything, but she doesn't want to bore everyone with her life's story. "I'll go next. I'm Kyra Shepard, from the town of Highcliff. Humble little town a bit south of Neverwinter. It has quite a bit of history, and it's a pretty popular spot for adventurers. I made a name for myself down there when I discovered a strange arrow while I was out hunting, and gained some magic from it. Using that magic I was able to hunt down some pretty nasty beasts, which helped the town survive what would've been a lean winter by bringing in a lot of meat and hide. After that I started going to other villages and helping out, usually by hunting beasts to feed the villagers or dealing with bandits harassing them. Made a name for myself that way so a lot of folks seem to know me for my deeds. Kyra did her best to explain a bit about herself, though she knows not to feel too haughty about her accomplishments. It might sound like a lot to a regular villager, but Kyra knows her deeds are small time to any seasoned adventurer.

"Felt like this was a good way to make myself useful. Pa always said that when you're strong, you need to use it to stay strong. Wouldn't do me any good if I just stayed back at Highcliff shooting deer and fish, so I'm here to lend a hand to anyone who needs it. As for the magic I can do, I can do some minor tricks." Kyra demonstrates by using Presitiditation to snuff out and then light a nearby candle, as well as many some sparks fly out from her hands. "But I can also use a spell that sends a psychic shock to my enemy. It distracts and hurts them, making them more susceptible to falling to more attacks. Let's see... I can also mark my enemies with a magic curse, which weakens them and makes my arrows more lethal. If I get hit, I can also lash out with fire magic. And finally I can make magic wards that can protect you from magic creatures. I usually use it whenever I come across undead, but I'm pretty sure it can be used a lot more. And of course, I can shoot my bowgun like nobody's business." Kyra looks to Kythor with a knowing nod. "So chances are you and I will be right next to each other when a fight goes down. Don't worry though, if anything comes up to me I know how to handle myself in a melee. That's when I use my nets."
Are you accepting new players? And if so, what are your rules for magical healing and such? I'm thinking of an alchemist/poisoner type of person.
Kyra

"Oh, where are my manners? I just barged into your conversation without introducing myself. My name is Kyra Shepard, I'm also something of a hunter myself, though I decided that I'll be more useful helping other villages than just saying back at home." Kyra takes off her hood and mask, revealing a young woman with dark hair and dark purple eyes. The hunter, Kythor, admits this giant might be over their heads and Kyra was inclined to agree, through she still feels that it'll be important for them to deal with eventually. These attacks are rarely just one-off, and if the giant feels that they can get away with this, they might try to attack more often. Better to nip this problem in the bud early before they show up again. "While I don't disagree that this giant problem may be too much for us to handle, we should still keep it in mind. Who knows if this giant is working alone or lives with a clan. If they think they can get away with it, they might come to Good Mead in force."

Kythor offered some other jobs that were less riskier. There was a job to look for missing fishermen, which sounded like the sort of thing Kyra is able to do. "Sounds like an easy enough job. I just hope they're alive, I can't imagine being lost up here. Feels like we're in the underdark with how little sun this place gets." Kyra also takes this moment to look at the others. Domic was loud and boisterous, but he at least seems earnest. Not a complete fool, but certainly has more courage than wits. Kythor had a steady head on his shoulders, though he was still a mystery to her. Then there was elven woman who Kyra honestly wasn't really sure if she's actually going to part take or was just here to chat. "Regardless, I'll certainly help you Kythor. And if you two want to join, I'll be more than happy to have you. As I mentioned I'm also a hunter, in particular I'm a fast shot with a crossbow. I can also do a bit of magic though I'll admit, I'm no wizard. I have studied a bit of arcana though."

"Bloody hells, I'm used to the cold but it's like this place has never seen the sun before." Kyra trudged through the snow. Even though Kyra had made sure to dress for the weather, even getting snow shoes, this place was cold and unforgiving. It was dark for what felt like all the time, and the last time she saw sunlight was a few days ago. If it weren't for her innately magical ability to see in the dark, Kyra would've been lost in this cold, hostile land. But even so she doesn't let that bother her. She's here for a reason.

The Frostmaiden has come to steal warmth from the people in this land. Kyra was honor bound to help the common folk, who often have no choice but to suffer. These lands were often too dangerous for most up-and-coming adventurers, and more experienced ones are busier chasing more lucrative jobs. Thus it relied on people like Kyra, who had an oath to uphold, to do what others would not. Though that being said she hasn't had much luck doing much good so far. Most folk have already made preparations to give up to the Frostmaiden, so Kyra just kept moving until she'd find people who did need her help. Her next stop was Good Mead.

Eventually Kyra would spot some lights in the distance. Firelight from inside huts and buildings. She finally got to Good Mead. Kyra head straight to the mead hall, wanting to get out of this weather. She's been camping out for at least three days now, and she would enjoy an open flame. Once inside Kyra would shake off the snow and look for a table to sit down at. As she did she overheard someone talking about recent issues. In particular a giant who had just murdered someone in town and stole the town's mead. Kyra approached the table. "Excuse me, I couldn't help but overhear that a giant stole some mead from here? I don't know about you, but that sounds like a problem. If you're worried about tackling it alone, I'd be more than willing to join you. Perhaps we can defeat the giant together."
Yup! It's a one-handed weapon, so I can make it into my pact weapon. My plan once I get to level 5 is to do smites with my crossbow.
I figured, that's why I'll mostly be relying on getting parts from monsters to make potions. Also, is my character okay?
Okay, so what about if I have my character try to find materials herself? For example if we kill certain beasts, could I use my survival skill to harvest parts for alchemy, or use survival to forage materials in the wild?
If you're still accepting, I have a character ready too.

Kyra Shepard.

I have a question though, do you do Downtime and if so, what would it be like to craft a magic potion? I'm hoping to make healing potions and other useful ones for the party when we're not adventuring, but I'm not sure if that'll even be a thing.
Ashe has only been in the New World for a few months, but she had to admit it was fairly interesting. She thought she's seen it all back where she came from but almost every outing here proved to Ashe there was still more to see. Whether it be hunting some new monster she's never seen or reading up about some endemic life she's never realized existed. Not to mention learning how to use all these new tools and weapons, like the Slinger. "Sure beats throwing rocks by hand." Aside from work, Ashe simply has been spending most of her time making herself comfortable in Astera. She was able to afford her own room and has been working with some palicos to furnish it, as well as move some old belongings from back at home. She's also gotten to know her Handler, the various leaders of the community, and getting a lay of the land.

Finally, everything was settled. Her room was tidy, her accounting was in order, and her gear was in top shape. But Ashe wasn't here to look pretty. She's a hunter first and foremost, and a hunter must hunt. Though with all the celebrations going on, Ashe of course took the time to enjoy herself too. Prismata's Comet wasn't something Ashe was going to miss, and the festival was fun even if she went by herself. Fortunately fun and work could go together, because after Ashe had her fill of booze and food she noticed that there was an urgent quest in the gathering hall. "Exploring unknown lands? Sounds exciting! I can't pass this opportunity up." Writing her name down in the blank spaces, Ashe went back to her room to gather her gear and armor up. She wanted to be ready for this job as soon as possible.

Heading over to the Geological Research Department, Ashe dodged workers and researchers as she made sure her hunting horn didn't bump into anything. Even as spacious as these halls were, these huge weapons can sometimes be a bit cumbersome. It wasn't long before Ashe found Dr. Paeris office, making Ashe wonder if he was okay with being called Dr. Paeris or Daelen. Either way Ashe knocked on the door to make her presence known. "Excuse me, is the Doctor in? My name is Ashe, I'm one of the hunters who's here for the Prismatic Meteor Investigation!"
