Current How do people get their roleplays to last years? I can barely find any that get off the ground.

I just made Cinnamon Apple Snickerdoodle Cupcakes. I also may have been heavily drinking while making them. Either way, the house smells great!

Bio

Hello!

I've been on a roleplaying hiatus for quite some time but I'm ready to come back to it! I used to roleplay mainly on an avatar based site called Gaia Online. I was more into what they called "literate" role plays: that is, what looks to be your casual to advanced roleplays. As of right now, I'm more interested in the casual ones. I might go into advanced at some point, but for now, I think casual will be for me.

I've done a wide variety of subjects. My favorites are:
-medieval/fantasy
-romance
-super powers or super hero
-psychological
-some sci-fi from time to time

I really enjoy original stories/premises for role plays but I'm also okay with doing something based in an existing world with original characters. I like fast-paced role plays with plenty of action and adventure. I'm good with both group stories and 1 on 1. While I tend to prefer playing male characters, I'm up to playing either gender. I'm also up to 18+ content. I'm not quite sure how far I'm willing to go as far as smut is concerned, but I will let you know once I've hit my limit!

I'm a gamer, especially rpg's (big shock there) and I enjoy fantasy television and movies. I'm very into Game of Thrones right now. I've seen every episode and I started reading the books though I only made it to book 2 or 3...I don't remember, it was a while ago. I also like older Legend of Zelda (I stopped playing the new ones after Twilight Princess came out), the Fallout games, Skyrim, I'm currently playing Witcher 3 (which I got as a gift. Unfortunately, I have not playing the previous two, but I would like to), the Fable games, I played some of the Batman Arkham games, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (the console game, but I also played the mmorpg for a while) and more I can't think of at the moment. As far as movie and tv goes, I like Lord of the Rings, Stranger Things, the Batman universe, Star Wars, Sucker Punch etc.

If you have a role play you want to start soon or need new members in that you think I might like, let me know! I'm always looking for new stories.

If you want to check out some of my art, check out my DeviantArt page. I will hopefully have some of my original characters up there once I start drawing again.

And if you like my art, check out my RedBubble Store!

I have a somewhat vague idea for a roleplay that I'm looking to flesh out and possibly get someone on board for co-gming it with me. I'm still pretty new and the idea of starting a roleplay of my own is a little intimidating. Plus I tend to get stuck in a rut and have trouble thinking outside the box for plot ideas and I think a second opinion/co-gm would really help with that.

So the story goes something like this(and don't judge my writing skills, this is a quick summery):

Long ago, vampires terrorized the world. They were a constant threat to villages and even larger cities. Finally, a group of strong humans decided they would put an end to this threat. Bands of vampire hunters rose up and started mass hunts to kill as many of the creatures as possible. After years of intense battles, the last vampires were pinned down. As the hunters drew their weapons to strike the final blow, the queen of the vampires hissed a curse. The hunters paid no mind as victory was finally upon them. And for years, nothing seemed to come of it.

That is, until the hunters died.

Everything happened as it normally would. The man died of natural causes and was buried as any normal death. It wasn't until a full year later when he suddenly awoke, buried six feet underground, fully "alive" and well.

Skip to present day(as in roleplay present which still takes place in the past) and the vampires have kept themselves relatively hidden. To the normal human, vampires are nothing but a myth...a legend from the past. Only few people know the truth. A new clan of vampire hunters have found out the truth and has started a secretive organization, lead by a psychopathic, egotistical maniac who seems to genuinely enjoy the slaughter.

In a relatively small, yet prevalent town, tragedy strikes. The Gagliardies(the name is open for change), the richest most prolific family in the area, has come under attack. Mrs. Gagliardi, loving wife and mother of three, is killed on her way home from the market and left to rot in an ally. The family mourns and buries their beloved mother and wife, only to have Mr. Galiardi attacked a few days later. Rather than just leave him to rot, his attackers took his body out to sea, attached to a cinder block, and dumped it there.

Only for him to awaken a year later. In a panic, he manages to detach himself from the cinder block and swim to shore. There is no sign he had been dead, other than most of his clothes disintegrating. Despite being underwater when he awoke, breathing wasn't a concern. He had no injuries, no rot, and no aging.

This is were things start.
People can play the three children (who can be anywhere from age 5 to 18), the father, vampire hunters or other vampires. Or humans if they want to go that route.
I would like to play the lead hunter.

Nothing is set in stone and I'm definitely open for changing/adding things.

The basic lore as far as I've thought up are like this:
Vampires are inhumanly powerful and fast.
They don't need to eat normal food or drink. They must drink blood to replenish their strength on a daily basis and after expelling too much energy whether through fighting or any other physically draining activity.
They cannot die through normal means. In order to kill one, they must be killed by a specific element.(generally either silver)
Physically, they appear like an average human save for a few elements. They don't age. They also grow fangs, but only just barely longer than any normal humans canines, so it is hard to distinguish them.

The Hunters also have their own way to compete physically with the Vampires. They have special potions that they drink that enhances all of their abilities: strength, speed, reaction time, hearing, ect. The downside is that these potions only last so long and they tend to cause some side effects the more they are consumed. The Hunter's leader is a prime example of what happens when you drink too much. His sanity is questionable as he has lost much of his humanity. He loves the hunt and the slaughter. If given the chance, he would hold vampires and torture them for his own sick pleasure. He has also grown dependent on these potions. He always has viles of it on his person and, recently, has started injecting them straight into his veins for a more intense strength. The only thing that keeps him semi-grounded is his second in command. (This position is up for grabs as well. In the past it has been played by a female who is romantically interested in the lead Hunter)

So what do you think? I know it needs some tweaking as there are probably some inconsistencies. I'd really love to find some interested people to play the different parts as well as possible a co-gm, as stated earlier. I'm looking for a casual-advanced roleplay, though I'm flexible. I'm okay with a few short paragraphs per post if you're having trouble thinking of something.

Anyway, please let me know if you're interested: either in just taking part of the roleplay or being a co-gm.
@Puffhead Yaaaas Nastasya will totally like Twilight. Although she has strange ways of expressing it.

Also, I think I want to make another character. What are we in need of? I haven't decided what gender or rifter my character will be yet.
Ryker shot a quick glance at Alexandra as she approached, looked her up and down then raised an eyebrow. "The Siren? I think I've seen you before. Aren't you a singer?" He had been in and out of taverns from all over the continent for years now, so he had heard many bards in his time. But hearing the Siren sing stood out among others. There was just something about her voice that you remembered. While he wasn't sure what a bard would be doing fighting monsters, but he would just have to wait and see.

"If you're buying, I'll go wherever you want," he said, only partly joking, turning his attention back to the mercenary captain. His statement was fairly accurate. As skillful as Ryker was in his profession, blacksteel was expensive and his coin purse was proof of that. Still, his purchase was justified. Killing monsters was dangerous work and, without the proper tools, it was downright deadly. Besides, Ryker was never one to splurge on frivolous things like beds or nice clothes.
@TimeMasterHe's been around a lot of towns and taverns so it would make sense if he recognized her.
@Timemaster I feel like our characters are going to be friends. Or enemies. Or frienemies. It's hard to say so far.

What do you think? Suggestions? Should I change anything?
A rather large puddle had begun to form on the cobblestone in front of a rather unsightly inn. It was not a well-kept place, so much so that it didn't even have a proper name. The word "Inn" carved lazily into a wooden sign hanging out front was the only distinction that this was, in fact, a business of sorts.
The interior was not impressive, to say the least. There was one table in the corner, old and starting to rot. The chairs that surrounded it were often wobbly and uneven. The innkeep himself matched the decor: unkempt and dirty. The comforts of the inn were not what drew travelers to it, however. It was the price.

Ryker emerged from one of the few rooms that morning, looking much the way he had when he had arrived the night before. His hair was a mess, what strands remained tied back were of little consequence as most of his hair hung in his face. His clothes were dirty, his boots caked in mud. He nodded silently at the innkeeper as he made his way to the exit.
The door creaked open as he stepped outside. He looked up at the clouds as he felt the rain on his head. He let out a quiet scoff as he lowered his head and continued out into the elements.
As he walked towards the docks, he began to work on his appearance. Not that it mattered much to him how he looked, he just wanted to get his hair out of his face. He pulled more strands back into the band that was holding some and used the rain water to wash off some grime from his face.
He glanced up when he heard a welcome phrase: "in exchange for coin." He adjusted his blacksteel longsword on his back and approached the giant of a man.
"Looking for hunters?" he asked. "Happens that I'm from the far east. I know the lands well."

Okay question: Would it be feasible for a Russian Rifter to have the power of density control? As in, she can control the density of inanimate objects that she comes in contact with as well as the density of herself, giving her the power to walk through walls or become essentially a concrete being?
@Nymeria

Hello Nymeria! As another fellow Roleplayer who has been out of the game for a while until just recently, I bid you greetings! I can't say I blame you on being overwhelmed, I felt the same way a little less then a week ago... And I had been on this site previously! If you have any questions or just need a fellow somewhat-noobie-but-not-really I'll gladly help out!

Also as a side-note, you did mention wanting to join a roleplay that was relatively new and open for new spots, so I thought I would offer two roleplays I'm in! One is advanced, and the other one is casual-advanced so I would suggest taking a look at them but don't feel obligated!

The first is Vivid Recollections, which is a roleplay I've just joined and will be officially starting on Friday. It's pretty advanced but I think it'll be fantastic! You can check it out here: roleplayerguild.com/posts/4463426

The other is one I'm actually GM'ing and is just starting up, as we're just starting to create characters and build the world. You can find that one here: roleplayerguild.com/posts/4471307

Admittedly neither of them are fantasy, but at least they might give you a good outline into what this site is like! Either way, I wish you luck! Please ask if you have any questions!

That's very funny to me that you are the second person who was in the process of recommending roleplays to me that I was already looking at. I just finished reading most of the posts on your When the Sky Broke one when I saw I had a notification. I'm definitely interested but I should have gone to bed an hour ago so I'll have to look more into it in the morning.
