I a sorry for the delay. I did not see that you had posted. I will post tonight.
Seth barely paused his his activities, but said. "Crawl back into the kitchen. You'll be safer there and my extra pistol is on the counter. I just finished cleaning it. There is a safety, but then you just point and shoot." He took another shot at the remaining gangster, while Rafael continued to pin him down from behind the couch.
Roger slept restlessly through the night, wondering how the captain was doing. He had started to learn the skills of a sailor and was sure that before he hit land he would be more of a sailor than he had ever dreamed possible. As it was though, he was still unskilled labor.

He missed seeing the Captain. They had grown closer on land, but now at sea she had her responsibilities, and he had his. He had hardly talked with her since leaving port. In the morning, he woke bright and early, with the first bell, and started back to work. The work was good for his muscles, after months of inactivity.
I am so sorry. We had to take another trip to PA because of my brother and we have not settled anything with the insurance company yet and might have to fight them over the auto accident. I am looking for work most of the time and trying desperately to find any sort of work, while we are working with the budget we do have. I am afraid that I just don't have the mental energy left to keep up. Please forgive me! I so like this game, but I have not been a faithful member. You can PM me if needed and again, I do apologize, but I am going to withdraw for now.
"Well," I started, "I can certainly understand why not sharing pancakes on a Saturday morning would break the deal and your love of nature I can understand as well." I could not understand why she was not looking and wondered what had caused her to feel that way. I knew that I was not looking, because mine was a hard lifestyle for many folk. If the right woman came along, then that was fine, but until she did, I was content taking companionship where I could get it, and being alone most of the time. It was true that it was lonely, and I longed for companionship sometimes, even if it were only that of a dog, but I always pushed those feelings aside.

"So, here we are, both single and determined to stay so. How sad is that?" I lifted my mug of coffee in a mock salute and then took a drink of it. As luck had it, the movement of the bench swing had not caused me to spill my coffee quite yet. It was a perfectly peaceful night, with the expanse of the stars and the full moon stretched out above us. The light pollution of the city did not interfere with our view. I put a friendly arm around her shoulder, without meaning anything much by it. It was simply a wonderful and peaceful evening with an agreeable and beautiful companion. Moments like this I treasured up, for the long and lonely days on the road and in the air.

(OCC: I am so very sorry for not posting sooner. Things have been really up in the air.)
"Aye, Aye Captain!" The men all jumped to their tasks and the tiny ship headed off against the morning sky. Roger helped where he could, but did not truly know the job of a mariner. He ended up swabbing the deck again, as it was the only task that required little skill. He did not take offense though, but worked diligently.

(OOC:I am so sorry about the delay. Things have been bad here, what with the car wreck, insurance and my brother. I will try to keep up more.)
Seth saw two more gunmen coming in through the door. They were obviously mobsters, in league with Rafael. Rafael sent a shot at him, and Seth ducked and dived behind a small coffee table, before sending a shot at one of the gangsters coming through the door. The shot was true and the man fell, but it was still two against one and things weren't looking in favor of the good guys. He pulled the witness the rest of the way behind him and covered her body with his, even as he aimed another shot, this time at Rafael, who was bringing his gun to bare on the fleeing form of the witness.
"Yes, see you tomorrow." As it was, he ended up seeing her sooner than that though. The professor was getting his dinner in the cafeteria, and looking for a place to sit, when he realized that the only place open was next to the young woman from his class. "Ah, Miss Smith, wasn't it? Do you mind if I take a seat?" He stood there with his tray held awkwardly and waited for her reply.
Tom shrugged. "The truth is that there are probably more kids than we could get out in one bus load. Maybe it would be better to concentrate on getting out of town ourselves and returning with help?" As a teacher he hated to take that attitude, but he sensed his companion's fear and realized that the task of rescuing all of the children might be beyond their capabilities.

They sneaked around the edge of the gas station and it was then that he saw an old pickup truck with the keys still in the lock, as if someone had meant to escape and had not been able to, though he did not see any bodies around. Maybe it was a trap? His heart thudded inside of his chest.
I was at home at my parent's house for the week with only a phone and no computer to type posts on. I just got back home tonight, and I am to tired to start posting. I will try to get back into it in the next day or so. Thank you so much for your patience. Thank you for the good wishes as well.
