I was thinking not corrupted, but that's actually the one point I can't quite decide on.
Ugh, this age problem is weird. If she's 22 she used to be 17, so I should be able to picture her that way... But I just see her as kind of flighty when she's younger, and less interesting to play.
@onenote She can't read people's minds, but she can plant thoughts, ideas, or suggestions in other people's minds, and with more effort she can talk to them telepathically.
I have an idea for a character with reverse telepathy. Problem: in my head she's between 20 and 25 (22 to be precise, but I can be a little flexible. I can't seem to picture her as 17 though). I could see her working for the organization, maybe as a teacher or something, except to do that I'd need to know a lot more about it. I could also envision her as a villain, but I don't know what she'd do. Any ideas/suggestions?
Cassie's family! The ones who are here right now, that is. (Not sure how much they'll show up, but I guess the people looking for Cassie need to know what these guys look like.) @RomanAria
Name: Artémis Duval Age: 18 Gender: Female Appearance: Dark brown hair, slightly wavy, shoulder length, usually in a ponytail or braid. Brown eyes. Half-Chinese -- somewhat dark skin, flat nose. A little taller and fatter than her sister Cassie. Occupation: Student (entering university) Notes: Her English proficiency is about the same as Cassie's, but Artémis has a much better accent.
Name: Martin Duval Age: 46 Gender: Male Appearance: Brown hair, graying at the temples. Grayish green eyes. Average height, prominent belly but not badly overweight. Occupation: Software engineer Notes: His English comprehension is pretty good, and so is his writing, especially when related to computer stuff. But he hasn't had much practice speaking (and his accent is horrendous).
P.S: I won't be able to post tomorrow. Life and such :P
It was hot out. Too hot to be walking around in the sun, and Cassie said so. Her sister Artémis rolled her eyes. "It's not that hot", she said. Cassie thought she sounded smug. "You'd know if you'd put your hair up." "It looks better down", she retorted. That got her another eye-roll from Artémis. "If you weren't so vain we could at least walk around without people gawking at us. You could've made your skin white so your star wouldn't stand out so much. And if you were smart, you'd have bangs or at least a hat to cover it up." "Blah, blah, blah..." Cassie opened and closed her hand to mimic a moving mouth. "You're just mad cause you refused my edits again, and now you're regretting it."
Papa sighed. "Stop it, you two." "Hey", Cassie protested, "I thought you were too busy looking at the map to pay attention to us... At least that's what you said when we wanted ice cream." She and Artémis smirked complicitly at each other.
After what seemed like an eternity of walking, complaining, following Papa's grunted directions, looking around, and half-listening to his explanations about monuments and stuff they were passing, Papa finally gave the OK to stop for lunch. Artémis said something about finding a hot dog stand, since they were in America. "I don't care as long as it's food", Cassie groaned. Papa agreed, with the caveat that it also had to be affordable enough, and hot dog carts seemed to fit the bill. They quickly spotted one and made their way up the line, heads turning when people noticed Cassie's star. They made Artémis do the talking, since the Americans seemed to understand her accent the best. A busy-looking man with a mean farmer's tan handed the girls three Cokes and three hot dogs with all the trimmings while Papa fumbled with dollar bills. "Haven't you gotten used to the money yet? We've been here for, like, three days." "Shut up, Cass", snapped Artémis. She was always grumpy when she was hungry. Cassie grimaced at her.
They picked their way to a relatively people-free piece of lawn, shooing away the pigeons, and sat down. "Look, you can see the Washington Monument over there", pointed Papa. The girls didn't look up from their food and drinks.
Name: Cassiopée Duval (Cassie) Gender: Female Age: 15 Nationality: French Current location in the world: Washington, D.C. Appearance: Cassiopée is half-Chinese, which shows in the shape of her eyes and the tint of her skin. She currently has hazel eyes and straight hair reaching her waist, black at the top and blue at the bottom. She's slim, and average height, but because she used to be chubby she weighs quite a bit. (Read on and this will make more sense.)
Location and notes on star mark: An 8-pointed star, as high as it is wide, on her left eyelid, about as tall as the eyelid. The Star seems to be unalterable by her powers, as far as she can tell.
Star power: Basically, Photoshop. Cassie can "edit" certain properties of objects, limited to properties related to appearance. Result-driven edits tend to work out better than when she concentrates on the details. One of the main (and easiest) things she likes to edit is color. Sometimes her edits can provoke bizarre and unwanted results because of her power's limitations. For example, she can change the size of an object, but not its mass, so she might end up making something much lighter or much heavier than it looks. She can edit materials, making a wooden door look like it's made of steel, but it might still be combustible like wood, or it might just have a thin steel coating with wood underneath. It would also only weigh as much as a wooden door. She's also able to physically duplicate ("copy-paste") and move objects, but this is much harder for her, and gets harder the larger or more complex the object is. In the last couple of years she's started to notice that she can sometimes change how people perceive an object's appearance, or even its aesthetic value, without having made any physical edits. So far she hasn't figured out how to achieve this result; the few times she thinks she's done it, she wasn't consciously aiming for it. She's also been trying to edit the physical properties of objects along with their appearance. (She's motivated by her weight problem, but she hasn't really gotten any results.)
Corrupted or Uncorrupted: Uncorrupted.
Personality: Cassie is outspoken, perhaps too much. Her mother claims it's because she's too worried about her appearance and is trying to push people away, but to Cassie, it's because her power makes her look at everything critically, in terms of what she can change, and she just happens to voice her opinions. It's true that she pushes people away. She doesn't get close to many people, and she doesn't particularly care about people she's not close to. Sometimes she tries to care, but mostly she's doing it to keep up appearances. Cassie's never afraid to tackle a challenge... but only because she's not frightened by the prospect of quitting. Whether it's because she's bored or because it's too hard, or any other random reason, Cassie will set it aside, for later or for never. She doesn't feel a particular need to finish what she's started.
Biography: TBR. (because I initially wrote too much, and it's mostly irrelevant. tl;dr: pretty normal life, yo.)
Trivia: - Likes to draw, sketch, paint, etc. You'd think she has an unfair advantage because she can edit her art to look exactly how she wants it to look, but in fact using her power to get the effect she wants requires just as much practice as any traditional form of art. - Likes playing video games. (She never has to shell out for alternate costume DLCs! ...jk, editing all the animations is way too much work.*) - Dislikes reading -- she always ends up moving the words around on the page. She likes math better. - Dislikes foreigners assuming she's from Paris as soon as she says she's French. (This has happened on the Internet as well as during her trip to the US. (see below)) - Her English is by no means fluent, but having grown up in the Age of Internet, she's certainly had a lot of exposure. She can understand it pretty well. Her accent is terrible.
Other: Per Aspera Ad Astra Why she's in DC: For Cassie's fifteen birthday and her sister's eighteenth birthday, their father is taking the two girls on a trip to America, landing in D.C., later heading to New York and then California.
There's no actual object for her to manipulate, so she'd basically just be changing how the character looks on-screen. For a full 3D model to look right, she'd have to edit the character at different angles of view as they appear on-screen, with the edits from the different angles seamlessly matching up so the textures don't look like they're jumping around. I think the edits would stick to the character, though, so if she got it all working from all the angles, the character would keep looking like that as long as she wanted it to.
Questions: Is the organization something that a lot of people have heard about? Is it generally seen as benevolent? I was thinking maybe one of the reasons for the trip to America was so Cassie (and her dad) could learn more about the organization.
• Name: Terra Arraken • Gender: Female • Write at least a paragraph of a character doing something: "...Really?" she drawled, rolling her eyes. It was way too hot out for this kind of thing. Stella flicked her hair over her shoulder and slowly stood up from the bench, making it all too clear that it caused her unendurable agony. She locked eyes with the young blond boy who had been staring at her expectantly the whole time. "Fine. Show me." Her voice dripped venom, but the child wasn't fazed. He grabbed her hand and half-led, half-dragged Stella out of her beloved shade, down the block, across the hot street, and into a sweltering parking lot. She could see the portal from across the lot -- a huge, orange-red, pulsing mess of a thing. When they arrived in front of the portal, the boy just pointed to it, as if it weren't painfully obvious even to someone who wasn't the town's most well-known gatesealer. That was when Stella realized he hadn't said a word, even when he'd first approached her. Strange. Regardless, she took out her pliers, morning wire, and fringe coolant and got the job done. She splattered on some extra coolant for good measure, since it was extra hot outside. It would keep the fringe worlds from bubbling their way out of the gate while the seal was still closing.
Hey! I'm interested! Maybe some sort of sci-fi thing, or the space plot, or Mirror's Edge? (that was a cool game... I usually don't do fandom RPs, but I guess I've gotta try it sometime =P)
