Aiko Nobuyuki, Classroom 1b
Aiko had finished taking down her notes before the rest of the class, and was left to relax a little. She doodled in her notebook, but had kept her eye on the teacher. One of her classmates, Hayate, appeared to be ill but still came to school for some reason. He was always very quiet and sat in the back corner of the class, but today he had been acting somewhat strange. In the morning he lashed out at anyone asking if he was okay, and he had been holding his shoulder most of the time, as if soothing an injury. This whole lesson however, he had been sleeping, which would be normal, except this was english class, which was one of the lessons Hayate actually seemed to be really interested in.
Then it happened.
Hayate stood up suddenly in the middle of class, and began tearing at his best friend (who had been sitting in front of him), and once he got him in his clutches, he bit straight onto his brow! Everyone around them began panicking, and tried to get Hayate off of Mosu, who was now bleeding profusely with an exposed skull. Other students restrained Hayate, getting bitten in the process, while Mosu laid unconscious. Aiko watched from the other side of the classroom as five students struggled to keep Hayate from attacking Mosu.
And then Mosu woke up. He tore open Chie's ankle, and everyone in the front half of the classroom rushed out, with Hayate running- no, SHAMBLING after them. Chie could not get away from Mosu, as he gnawed at her leg, and her screams penetrated the remaining students' ears; including Aiko's. Everyone backed off towards the back door of the classroom, but Mosu soon caught a whiff of them and stood up, blocking a small handful from escaping. Aiko was part of the small handful. Out of pure fear she grabbed the arm of the nearest boy, Uzo, a delinquent who for some reason decided to actually come to class today. He too was terrified, and pushed Aiko towards Mosu, hoping that she would be bait. This was the moment Aiko decided to act. As Mosu lunged towards her, she ducked underneath a table, leaving Uzo as Mosu's target. Her friends Yukiko and Ryu immediately yelled at and kicked Uzo towards Mosu after seeing what he had done to their friend, and went underneath the table to meet with Aiko.
The trio then attempted to crawl their way towards the front of the class, noticing that a few other students were cowering near their seats. Yukiko began to tremble, and went into the fetal position, crying as she did so. Aiko and Ryu stopped to reassure her, but Chie began to crawl towards them. After seeing what people who had been bitten begin to do, Aiko began to pull Yukiko with all her strength, trying to get her back on her feet before Chie gets to them. Unfortunately, Yukiko was too far gone, and Chie pounced on her just as she looked up at Aiko. Ryu was the one who stopped Aiko from trying to help Yukiko. She slammed Aiko against the wall, and yelled at her to get her shit together, a side of Ryu Aiko had never seen before. Shit was serious. Aiko then looked behind Ryu and noticed "injured" students shambling into the class, recognising some of them as the students that tried to restrain Hayate earlier. It looked as if there was no escape unless...
the window! She looked at Ryu with more determined eyes and said in a hushed yet hurried tone,
"We can't get out through the doors! We need to go out the window!" Ryu turned behind her and immediately turned back, nodding urgently. They opened the window, and Aiko went out first, and shuffled along the ledge to allow space for Ryu to climb out. She assisted her, and they smiled at each other. They were now probably safer than they were before climbing out.
"Now we just have to wait for help to arrive!"All sense of optimism had disappeared in an instant. "They" had smashed through the window between Aiko and Ryu, and grabbed Ryu, and in the ensuing chaos, Ryu ended up falling off the ledge, plunging down three stories and taking Ozu with her. Aiko was powerless to stop this, and could only watch as Ryu's beautiful smile was the last moment she would have with her best friend. The tears began to stream as she moved away from the window, and was now trapped as she watched "them" mindlessly toss themselves out the open window in an attempt to catch her. There was no escape for her.
