@Fubsy@Nikki Moonlight@Polaris NorthThe pack leader waited until the others resumed to their daily lives within the territory, hoping that the little ones didn't understand the meaning of the situation. Rumors were common between them after all. He hoped that they didn't make up a meaning for 'homicide', the definition already being bad enough. Fortunately they were too young to make up something major compared to what the older, more experienced ones knew.
The queens, elders, and mentors, on the other hand, had to keep much more watch now. The queens had to keep the puppies from wondering close to the border, which was going to be difficult due to the curiosity and importance of the puppies learning from their limited area to roam in. The elders were already old enough and have a due date at any time. They had to spread their wisdom before passing into the spiritual realm. And the mentors might not have the opportunity to properly train their apprentices now that the pack was on the look-out.
Crescent Moon didn't have any interest in doing anything to the others though. That was her previous pack after all. She was blamed by the majority of those from the earlier generation. Was defense really a reason to kick her out? Apparently. She just kept to herself, mind blank other than the one goal to listen to the private conversation between the group at the gathering rock.
"Now, it's clear that you all will have to be on high look-out for loners, especially this one. Both Hunters and Warriors will have to work together keeping the pack safe. Hunters will continue hunting food, yes, but will have to stay close to the Warriors who are patrolling." Angelwing glanced around for a few moments, feeling uneasy all of a sudden, before resuming.
"Sadly, as I have to remind you all, the cold is also coming soon. Hunters will have to be outside much more often until we have a proper amount of food for the pack to last, putting them at a higher risk. Warriors, keep watch."The she-wolf tried to get as close as possible to the rust-colored Hunter while they were distracted, trying best to stay within her hiding area. She wanted to get his attention without attracting the others at the same time. Difficult with them being forced to have high caution, at the same time, being all grouped together like that.
The scent. Of course! The Hunter had the
exact scent on him and was the only one close to her to truly know her smell. She had to get a subtle whiff of her scent in there then! The problem was that the others knew when a smell was different from the usual, and hers would be unbelievably close.
Moon took a moment took a moment to think this over, looking around the pack area. The food pile caught her eye, the deer directly on top.
How about that, huh? As Angelwing continued his speech between the members, she slowly advanced on to the deer, taking hold of the closest limb then dragging it out of territory. The absence of the scent that the Hunter and probably the one Warrior would get their attention after the gathering. Fortunately it was ending soon anyway, the leader starting to end his speech.
"Deputy, Rymen," he would say while looking down directly to the wolf.
"The only difference in the schedule now is that a Warrior or two will be going out with the Hunters whenever they go out." Angelwing paused for a moment, checking himself if he should say anything else, before jumping down from the rock. His claws were still out and sharp but he casually told the others,
"Dimissed!Perfect timing. Just as the gathering ended, Crescent Moon was far enough with the carcass with a good scent trail left behind to get some attention.
